Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 8

Posted by ,

75981 Harry Potter Advent Calendar has already provided some interesting items during the first seven days and I think yesterday's gramophone was particularly appealing.

I anticipate continued quality today...

Having completed the first Triwizard task, Harry returns to Gryffindor common room with the golden egg. A dark red sofa therefore arrives next, featuring medium nougat 1x1 round plates which represent feet. The shaping is fairly simple but I like the rounded corners of the sofa and dark red was the most appropriate colour choice, reflecting Gryffindor's traditional house colour.

The most interesting element is undoubtedly the metallic gold egg though, which returns from 75946 Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge. That is probably my least favourite of the modern Harry Potter sets so another opportunity to acquire the egg is welcome and I love the metallic gold finish across this component.

Overall - 4.0 - Models like this sofa have appeared in several Advent Calendars, although I like its Gryffindor colour and the golden egg.

It looks like you were lucky with the color consistency of the dark red bricks... my sofa is crazy inconsistent. One of the 1x2 tiles, the 1x4 tile and the slopes are really really bright compared to the rest :(

It's the 1x2 plate that's much darker than the rest for me.

Still, that egg is going in my prefect's bathroom when the calendar is done!

I'll be honest, had the Hungarian Horntail been better I would have bought that set and also, does anyone has the part ID of both Ron and Hermiony Butter Beer from the HP CMF 2?

I also have some inconsistency in the colouring, which rather ruins the look a bit.

I'm missing a 1x2 dark red plate. The bag was ripped, so it may turn up loose in another door. I did what wiggling and poking I could into possible crevices, without opening up the remaining days, but nothing has been discovered.

No matter how glammed up he got, Humpty Dumpty spent the entire ball sitting around waiting for someone to ask him to dance...

People just don’t appreciate eggs nowadays

That’s because he’s known to crack onto people. I’ve told him that’s not white and it’s certainly no yolk!

I like this entry. Can slot it straight into a Gryffindor common room, and since I didn't get the Horntail set, it's great to have another way to get the egg.

Same for mine - the 3 1x2 plates are a lot darker than the rest of the elements. :(

Maybe those old minifigs that didn't have arms?

But those also didn’t have bendable legs to sit!

When that happened to me in a previous year, I just opened the side of the box and pulled out the "guts" and found my missing bit. You have to be a little careful pushing the tray back in. I found it easiest to open all the already open doors fully to ensure they didn't snag on the tray.

On mine, the tiles are just a tiny bit brighter. It's not noticeable unless you're really looking.

@Aardtacha:
I've never once popped open any of the doors on any LEGO Advent Calendar I own.
