Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 9

Posted by ,

Several important artefacts appear throughout Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and various such items have emerged during the last three days of this Advent Calendar.

Perhaps another will arrive on day nine...

This table appears reasonably generic, lacking distinctive detail. However, I like the arrangement of the legs which are connected between a 3x3 cross plate and a 4x4 round plate. The resulting structure feels perfectly sturdy and I think the contrast between dark brown and reddish brown elements is successful here, with a dark tan component on top.

The accompanying bottle is equally simple, although the orange flower which forms the stopper provides welcome colour. I wonder whether the vacant stud at the centre of this table provides a clue to a subsequent model in this Advent Calendar. Hopefully we will find out during the coming days!

Overall - 3.0 - Unfortunately, this table lacks particularly distinctive features but forms adequate scenery for the Yule Ball.

The orange flower is meant to presumably represent a pumpkin, assuming they are trying to recreate the Pumpkin Juice bottle frequently found in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios parks. https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Pumpkin_Juice
It’s a shame they down have a darker brown bottle as it would be more recognisable.

I don't know what's to come, but I put the grammophone on the table, and it looks excellent. The grammophone in the film stands on a similar table, so I think that might be what's intended.

Pretty dull build today, but I know we have trees and presents to come so I don't mind this one.

Good point! The bottle is available in trans-black so I wonder why that colour was not chosen.

@CapnRex101:
And if you believe the official naming system, that color actually _is_ trans-brown. If you believe it...

I bought one of Wicked Bricks' 'Christmas Tree' wall displays for the HP Calendar. They seem to agree with @J0rgen & @CCC and have the gramophone sitting on this table.

3/5 is way too generous IMO. 2 or 2.5.

I prefer to use the BrickLink colour names because they seem more descriptive of the actual colours. Either works in the case of trans-brown and trans-black but various names, such as brick yellow, are not particularly descriptive in English.

As long as one is consistent, I do not think it is important.

And really, aren't all the yellow shades brick yellow? :)

By in United States,

It occurs to me that there’s just enough room next to the bottle to put Harry Potter’s table in the center of this table. Obviously that’s what it’s meant for! Seriously, though, if they spread a model across multiple days, I’m pretty sure they try to make them consecutive days. In this case, the table arrived today, so whatever goes on it should be yesterday (gramaphone) or tomorrow (Educational Decree 30: There will be _no_ discussing which gift is scheduled for the following day).

There is a photo of the advent calendar builds on the Lego website for this particular set number. If you scroll through the images available, there will be at least one with all of the builds. Be warned though, it would be spoilerish if you do not know what is coming ahead. In the photo, the gramaphone is on top of this table. So yes, they did intend for it to go there.
