FYI, on a happy note - you can also currently purchase a new, sealed copy of 76052 Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave on Bricklink from a US seller for $220 plus shipping.

By in United States,

I’ve never heard of Zavvi, but since it’s been brought up here I assume it’s legit. I’ll check it out!

Does that batcave really suck or something? Why is it lingering after years

Just now taking a good look at the Batcave set. Those Nuclear-age computes are kinda cool, and it appears that Batman is secretly building a TARDIS in his basement

By in Norway,

EDHS1989 - It didn't downright suck but many found it to be overpriced, around here it cost around 300e or almost the same as two modulars. It does have a number of nice/attractive parts (like the Batmobile, the minifigs, the printed wallpaper pieces, the old computers, the back facade and a sticker saying "DICK"), but there was too much "fluff" driving up the price, no proper place for many of the parts and the blank section below the office looked bad. Also weird how the set itself focuses on the nuclear reactor (it's far more substantial than in the TV show itself) while it's not mentioned in the set description *at all*, presumably 'cause nuclear power is evil/non-PC nowadays.

I actually found this set at 40% off and had big plans to mod it, unfortunately it still sits unopened in my backlog pile.

Zavvi and IWOOT are part of the same company, which is totally legit.

With the way LEGO sets have been in such terribly short supply for so long at the U.S. Shop at Home site, an alternative source is welcome, even if the selection is limited. And any price that is 5% or more off retail makes up for the lack of VIP points.

By in Germany,

I think I remember getting this set directly from LEGO Shop at Home some years ago at Black Friday at something like 30% off. Haven't gotten around to building it yet.

By in Puerto Rico,

I tried ordering something on Zaavi a while back and then thought it was not legit. The company ended up telling me they were out of stock even though when I placed an order it was in stock. Got my money back. So is this a legit website?

It's a great set but the price didn't seem to go up after it retired..."

Interesting

Absolutely! A UCS 1966 Batmobile definitely required to show Batman at it's best. So much better than the 1989 imposter!

The bat cave set is also in Singapore lego stores right now although it is overpriced

Good point... I'd rather get a used one cheaper from an adult seller though.

By in Australia,

These were $399 AUD in Australia when they were still in production. About a year after they retired Target must have found a bunch out the back of a warehouse somewhere and chucked them online for 50% off. Frankly, even at $199 AUD it still felt slightly over priced but I couldn't pass it up. Vehicles and minifigs are awesome. I'd love more 60s and 70s TV themed stuff.
