Keeping up to date
Posted by Huw,
There's always a lot going on here at Brickset and unless you visit multiple times a day you are likely to miss some of it.
So, I thought it would be useful to summarise the methods available to you to keep informed, and introduce a new one.
- If you're a regular social media user you'll find our articles posted on Facebook and Twitter, and selected ones on Instagram
- If you use an RSS reader, our news feed can be found at brickset.com/feed and a feed containing new sets, inventories and instructions is at brickset.com/feed/activity
- You can subscribe to a daily email digest at Feedburner and to the newsletter we send out every other week at SendInBlue
- Finally, we've just added browser notifications and you've probably already been prompted to receive them. You may also see a bell in the bottom left corner of the home page which, when clicked, provides a summary of unread/recent ones.
I hope you find some of them useful!

Not related, but what happened to user reviews been able to be rated helpful or unhelpful?
I removed the feature because (a) not enough people rated them and (b) it encourages negativity.
This is the right moment to thank you for still supporting RSS. I have chosen to not have social media accounts and I can't stand to be forced to use them.
That bell icon is really distracting. Is there a way to hide it?
Got browser notices for a day or so now - BS updates just often enough for it to be helpful, but not so often it annoys me - well done!
I'm glad that the notifications were put in place. I suggested them on the suggestions page but would it be possible to filter which notifications you receive like just reviews or just articles etc.?
Yeah ... um... I may or may not visit this site way too many times a day...
Guess I need a life...
@Huw there is a bot of Brickset in telegram too:

I am in the same boat as your future president. I visit the page many many times a day.
Much appreciated, thanks bigman Huw

It's the only way to efficiently keep up to date with LEGO news across all the different outlets. I subscribe to about 30 feeds to do so.
The notification bell icon is pretty annoying, when it popped up the first time I thought it was ad related, as several sites put ads in the notifications (or they're just ads), so I just added it to adblock.
Please use a less intrusive way to inform us of useful features, thanks...

That's really too bad that people would use the ratings for negativity. I never noticed that with the few reviews I left.
I'd vote for more posts being included on Instagram. It's how I stay connected to the Lego world besides coming to the Brickset website 3-4 times a day. Thank you for all that you do!
And here I was just refreshing the Brickset home page every so often...
The Brickset site just keeps getting better. Thanks Huw :)

Lol I was just thinking the same!

It stands out because it's a fresh addition to the site, give it a month and you probably won't notice it unless you're inclined to do so. Personally I thought it was a bit intrusive at first but really it's out of the way, and with dark mode I have started to forget about it already.

Negativity? Or the only way to give feedback on reviews in the absence of any way of being able to provide constructive criticism?

Completely agree. Some "reviews" were so stupid, annoying, unhelpful and basically a waste of everyone's time that the unhelpful rating was the only way to show that they, well, were just that, unhelpful. I sometimes wonder why people even bothered to write "reviews" that contained like two or three lines full of spelling errors, wrong grammar, and a gist of "this is the best/worst set ever" without going into any details at all.
After having come across far too many of these so called "reviews" I have stopped reading user reviews altogether and only stick to staff reviews.
Thank you for the updates and info!
