Third collectable coin now available
Posted by Huw,The third of the VIP collectable coins is now available at the VIP reward centre at LEGO.com.
This one features the logo of the monopolistic LEGO City energy supplier, Octan.
If you're collecting them, don't hang about: the previous ones didn't last much beyond a day.
Update: They've all gone in UK/Europe...

How exciting. Hooray.
I am not looking forward to when the Space one gets released... It'll be gone within 10 minutes.
Is it as 'well' made as the previous ones?
Let’s keep positive about these. I personally really like them. Got mine ordered a couple of hours ago :-)
How many people who haven't bought the rest of them will just buy the space one for the aftermarket purely because the other 4 are worthless without it......
I cant imagine the prices they will fetch
Got the code, now to decide which wish list item to select to also get the Amelia Earhart GWP.

Me too... I think some people are expecting a Royal Mint proof coin, rather than the nice little gift shop souvenir that it actually is! (plus the compensation I got for not receiving the grotty Porsche post cards, that I didn't even want, more than covers this and the next 2 coins!)

I am hoping that Lego anticipated a higher demand for the space token and produced more of it.
However, even if they did it will probably won't last too long.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever had anything go out of stock when they already possess the redemption code. Obviously having the code should make an item 100% secure, but with Lego's recent stock and supply issues i'm never quite so sure!
I already have the Castle coin. I missed getting the Pirate coin. Wished Lego kept it a bit longer. The one thing i don't like is that Lego.com allows for one promo code at a time of purchase. so now I am buying a single key chain at a time just to get the rest of the coin sets.

I share your concern although I haven't heard any related complaints. Nonetheless, I just placed a little order to help me to the coin rather than waiting for the GWP later this week. And that purchase will get me the points for the next coin anyway...:-)
I was waiting for the Space coin, and just ordered this one. The Pirates coin looked fine.

My exact thoughts. It's a bit nerve wracking to hold onto the code and not use it immediately, but I have the code so there's essentially a coin "reserved" for me until I use it, right?
Octan... they make good stuff; music, dairy products, coffee, TV shows, surveillance systems, all history books, voting machines and coins!
Who gets this? You cant even use it in MOCs lol

Once a coin voucher is "claimed" you have 60 days to redeem it. The product is basically reserved, so there should be no rush to use it today. I still haven't redeemed my Castle coin yet as I am waiting for the Amelia Earhart Tribute.
@deansl1882:
I kinda want two of that one...
@lordofdragonss:
Oh, I’m sure someone will build a MOC around at least one of these coins before too long.
who is this for? are there really lego fans who want this stuff?

An Octan office building lobby with this coin imbedded in the wall might be an interesting idea.
Yikes! Sold out already......
Tulip mania!

Yes they cost £7.20 in points but sell for around £40 on eBay so clearly the demand is there. I’ve got all three coins and display set so far (though obviously just redeemed this coin, not received yet). Nice little collectible and something different.
...This is fine.
To bad, already sold out
That's why I'm not rich. My mind doesn't even think about buying this to resell later. I have no interest in this, but buying it to resell at a profit, didn't occur to me. Now I'm wishing it did.
@Huw Do you know if these went on “sale” at midnight?

I think that they went live not long before @Huw posted this. They were certainly not there at 09:30 GMT

Then you are one of the good ones... leave these for the folks who actually want them and will enjoy them.
@Huw, should there be a database entry for this one? (like the other two)
Whew! Forgot to cash in my points this morning, and couldn’t get through to LEGO.com to see if I could do it over the phone. As of 4:15 Eastern, the Octan coin is still available in the US. One closer to being sold out, now...
@RichardRSA:
For that, I’d go bigger. Think an Octan skyscraper with one of these embedded on each face near the top. For Classic Space, maybe a SHIP with one mounted on the forward dorsal hull. I’d get a little weird with the other two, and have a treasure cart with an armed escort for Castle, and pirates digging a hole on an island to bury the Pirates one. The last coin should be the easiest to build a MOC around, but being just a plain LEGO logo, it doesn’t really suggest ideas the way the other four do.

At midnight there was only vidyio stuff. I reedemed mine at 3 P.M. (CET) - it seems it was added just recently, the remaining stock was not shown yet, neither the description. At that time, the vidyio posters were not yet added.
I am so affraid that I will miss some coin and the collection will be ruined. BTW I collected coins well before my LEGO passion, so this is great product for me. But they should made more and the price is horrible. On Wish/Alliexpress, they would be max 2$. I expect they will copy those coins for sure...
Just to check, the gold coin "coin" was not yet released? only Castle, Pirates and now Octan?
PS:
Can you update the brickset listing for the case with pictures?
here are official from LEGO: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/collectable-coin-plastic-case-5006473
Sites for the rest
castle: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/lego-castle-coin-5006472
pirates: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/lego-pirates-coin-5006471
Octan: ???
Space: ???
Gold Coin: ???
Have these released at predictable times? Like the same time every so many days?

Quick! Stock up on 40461 before the price goes even higher!! Don't forget your GME, too!
@bossbast1:
Correct. Castle and the large case were January, Pirates was February, Octan is March, and I’m expecting Space will be April with the logo coin wrapping things up in May.
@supervir2:
The Pirates and Octan coins definitely went live on the first of their respective months. We don’t really know when Castle and the large case showed up because nobody was watching for them, as they were not announced. I have confirmation e-mails for the January releases dated the 18th, but I don’t remember if I cashed in points right away, or if I took a few days to do so. Pirates I remember climbing into bed when I remembered that it was after midnight on the first, and getting up again just to grab my code. I’m setting alarms for the next two, so I don’t forget. For the US, I’d assume midnight on the 1st of the month, Eastern (so if you live in a different time zone, make sure to account for the time difference).
First two coins were gold, now this third one appears to be silver... I'm baffled.

Yes, also Space seems to be silver, so basically 2 colored gold, 2 colored silver, 1 plain gold.
At least there is some variety there, but it might be distracting if you want to have clean display :D
@PurpleDave thanks for the info. I was expecting the same, there was just that one leak for the plain gold one and I thought it would be the next one in line, not the Octan.
Regarding the release, I would check regularly, but especially on the 1st-2nd of the month and maybe middle of the month as well (when the bunny house promo will be released)... just to be sure.

I ordered the first two a month after I got the codes and the castle coin wasn’t on the site anymore. I received both without a problem other than I was not able to put both codes on the same order.
They are releasing these things too quickly, I don't have enough VIP points to get this, so I have to buy something again. I really wish Lego would space these out a bit more.
^
Yes, same here... just not that confident in Lego warehouse's stock keeping abilities! But at least there don't seem to have been any anomalies with reserved items to date.
Am only interested in the Castle coin (which I got already), the Space coin and the plain Gold coin. Not a fan of pirates nor City sets.

Wow, seeing all the stress over coin availability makes me glad I'm not interested in them.
Good luck to you guys who do want one.

Why? Does everyone need to agree with you?

Bit harsh. No not at all. We’ve pretty much smashed the negative comments, quality control, poor paint job, lack of stock, released too quickly etc comments on the previous 2 coins. Thought it might be nice to focus on the positives of this one. But hey, if you want to negative, then fire away.
Arrived today. Good enough quality, as per the last two. Although maybe not quite good enough to don my white gloves to carefully place into my airtight glass cabinet!
Well someone can now get the one intended for my. LEGO.com banned me from ordering from the website so cannot get these VIP Rewards shipped to me :(
Still trying to find out why I was banned...
@winbrant:
There was a period maybe a year or two ago when they blocked some people. One person who claimed to have been blocked said they bragged to the person taking their order by phone that they were going to immediately turn around and flip the sets for a profit. It sounded like other resellers were also getting banned once they got caught.
LEGO Brand Retail policy seems to be that they are only intended to cater to end consumers, while the commercial sales division expects minimum orders that are beyond the capacity of your average reseller.
So, if you've been buying sets just to resell, it's possible that they found out and that's why you got banned. If you don't do that, maybe they cut you off in error and you can get it reversed.
Another possibility is that you didn't actually get banned, but that you violated the lifetime limit on some particular item. There have been reports that if you've previously ordered the stated limit on any item, any future orders that include even one copy of that item will be cancelled in full. Purchases made through physical LEGO Stores don't count towards your lifetime limit, nor does your previous online purchasing prevent you from buying in stores, but you also can't get these coins from a LEGO Store.
In a pinch, you might be able to pass the code on to a friend so you can at least get the coin you spent points for. If they did have a legitimate reason to ban you, this does, however, bear the risk of expanding that ban to whoever redeems your code for you.
