By in United States,

The TV and UFO are awesome

Gravatar
By in United States,

The way to vote is kind of wonky. Of the 15 options, you have to click on that option's page and vote there.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are all great. Decisions, decisions. The astronaut figures looks like a Playmobil figure. :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I want them ALL! Forget Gift with purchase I want to buy a complete set of them!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ursa Major, delivery rover, journey of an astronaut, UFO, and the classic logo would be great. Not sure which I’ll vote for, but several quality options for sure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

UFO and biodome are my favorites, probably vote for UFO since it’s more likely to win, but good builds all around

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My money is on one of either USS Cardboard and Journey of an Astronaut. Seems like the sort of thing Lego would offer for a GWP......

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Wow. There are some amazing options here.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

That Mars biome looks great

Gravatar
By in United States,

Delivery Rover

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Voted for Classic Space LOGO! I always really like these IDEAS GWPs, and this will hopefully be a continuation of that. Ursa Major and Journey of an Astronaut would have been 2nd and 3rd if I could vote for more than one....

Gravatar
By in Canada,

My favourite is USS cardboard.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Omg that cardboard one is soooooooo cute! I love it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Let's go Lego Delivery Rover!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some of these are just so fantastic!

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Voted for the Classic Space Logo!
PS: Why is publicity in Brickset website so annoying now?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Classic space logo for me by a mile

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love the cardboard one and the observatory, but the logo gets my vote!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Voted for the Mars Research Biodome- great set that could be perfect for MOC's and two astronauts promoting future space missions. Though I liked many more!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know, all of these are so good!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can we just have them all please? That would be amazing!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These builds are all so cute and well-designed! I voted for the Journey of an Astronaut but I love The Classic Space Logo and Bob's Unexpected Space Adventure too. Can't wait to see which one wins!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would buy more than half of these if they were available for sale or GWP!

But my vote went to the Mars Research Biodome.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, can we get like 5 of these?? The CS fan in me certainly has his preferences, but I love the simple artistry of Ursa Major. But wow, several of these are fantastic and it's a shame only one will be picked.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am so excited that my Classic Space logo was one of the ones that they picked! I'm not even sure how to put it into words!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think no matter what it is a given something classic space themed will be present, either a figure or the logo. That's all you AFOLs ever think about! ;)

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Ursa major got my vote, really pretty!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hello LEGO, please may we have 15 gifts with purchase. Thank you.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Where is the option for "All of the above"?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Classic space logo for me but happy with any

Gravatar
By in United States,

Most definitely Ursa Major.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ursa Major and Classic Space Logo are so charming. Those are standouts for me, though I would be happy with most of them

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ursa Major, Journey and Cardboard are my top 3.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Blimey, I would BUY 7 of them, never mind have one free, come on Lego whoever wins can you please consider others, or get Bricklink to make them, benefiting fans, Lego and designers.....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow. These are amazing.
I find both the journey of an astronaut and USS cardboard equally heartwarming. I would love to see both of those released together as a set, because they both speak to aspects of the same journey... the impact of childhood and the journey from childhood to adulthood to become an astronaut.

The alien abduction one... goodness I love that one. Bob’s unexpected space adventure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A lot of quality entries making it very difficult to narrow down to one to vote for.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If I could buy _all_ of them, I would probably pick up the TV, Ursa Major, the delivery rover, USS Cardboard, and _maybe_ the Mars biodome. If I can only buy the winner, I'd be okay with the blue rocket or the CS logo. But only the UFO gets my vote.

I would vote for yours if I could but I’m barred by LEGO from participating in Ideas :~(

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I voted for the Observatory, as it is so amazing for its size! Looks like a real Observatory with everything necessary inside, even as it is only a "booth" size! :D I also liked the UFO and sympathize with the Classic Space Logo.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I voted for the Discovery Rover, it's a bit like an update of 894...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ugh, I can't believe we can only vote for one! Well done, all entrants!!!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Wow, so many great entries. That's a very difficult choice! I would definitely buy many of these if they were sets.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I thought the USS Carboard was quite a creative idea.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

If Hello From The Moon were to win i reckon lego would need to make the 'image' in the TV screen black and white. Light grey classic space minifig with a white classic smiley face - absolute winner if they made it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

There are several of these that are excellent! I love USS Cardboard, but Journey of an Astronaut gets my vote.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It was tough between the UFO and the Classic Space Logo, but I feel like the Space logo is going to get more support so I voted for the UFO.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Tough pick, all are great... But Commuter Capsule is something absolutely special for me. It has feel of Valve's The Lab or something similarly playful and comforting.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I could not go past the classic space logo, but all of these are great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What a wonderful idea to have a competition to create a future gift with purchase that will hopefully go with an anniversary Classic Space set! These are some of the best builds at this scale that I have seen. I narrowed my list down to: Ursa Major (for its simple beauty as a piece of art), Delivery Rover (for the clever and pure fun of the idea), Observatory (for its outstanding use of parts at that scale to create the scene), Bob's unexpected space adventure (the X-files / Simpson's fan in me just loved the execution and idea), Classic Space Logo (let's face it, Classic Space was my first Lego love), USS Cardboard (I did this as a kid and it bought back so many great memories) & Journey of an astronaut - which got my vote because, as a teacher, it has the capacity to transcend toys and inspire young people, especially women, to dream of a career in Science and Space. That said, congratulations and all the best to each of these 15 outstanding entries in the competition!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Classic space logo is in a league of its own. Next would be the ufo.

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

These are all so amazing, I don't know what to choose!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I went for the observatory, as I don't think Lego have ever done one before. Though I really liked the USS Cardboard, it's daft, fun, and I can totally relate to it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is the vote actually open? The Ideas page says it'll be open from March 15th until March 22nd so I'm not sure if clicking through to an entry's page and voting there is actually voting for it or if there'll be another page for voting on Monday - very confusing!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are sooooo good. To bad i made my big lego purchase already, gotta wait a other 6 months.

And I forgot to enter something :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ursa Major is strikingly beautiful.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ursa Major is beautiful in its simplicity.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

If the rumours of a Shuttle are to be believed then I think the Astronaut is the only one worthy BUT I love all of them, some more than others but I would consider all of them viable builds :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

There are some awesome entries here! This will be hard to select just one....

Gravatar
By in Australia,

“Discovery of a new planet” please Mr LEGO
... or “USS Cardboard “
... or “Classic space Logo”
... or “Bobs space adventure “ ... would be my top 4 choices :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

As others have said, I'd gladly pay real money for several of these sets! For me it came down to a very hard choice between the observatory and the Mars biodome--the biodome got my vote--but I wouldn't be unhappy with any of them. They were all fun, represented a variety of approaches to building with Lego, and would all be worthy winners!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted for URSA Major :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ursa Major is the best.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The chances of a new colour Classic Space minfig? Purple or Brown?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For encapsulating the sheer joy of childhood, for me it has to be USS Cardboard.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

In my opinion delivery rover and UFO are best

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

For all the woke people The Journey of an Astronaut appears to be a no-brainer.
The less woke people will spread their votes.
The Journey of an Astronaut will win.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I voted for the Observatory. Unfortunately, I think not all the finalists the best 15 out of 1534, and of course I would liked to have had my entry selected.

The USS cardboard seems to be very popular. Just reminds me a bit too much of the Rocket Ride.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s either USS Cardboard or Journey of an Astronaut for me. Decisions, decisions...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Journey of an Astronaut is lovely in how it manages to tell a story and show the passage of time even on such a small scale, but the USS Cardboard also has great charm. Bob's Unexpected Space Adventure has terrific parts usage - I don't know how I'm going to choose!

Gravatar
By in United States,

USS Cardboard. Brilliant. I love this. Classic Space Logo is also very cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

tough call but i finally decided on Bob's Unexpected Space Adventure

Gravatar
By in Germany,

While there are several awesome options, my favorite by far is the Delivery Rover.

Has the most Classic Space feel to me.

Runner up is Ursa Major for the sheer simplicity of the concept while offering such nice parts usage.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How on Earth are you supposed to choose from that lot? They are all absolutely fantastic!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That lovely Ursa Major... Voted. I hope it wins, and otherwise I will source the parts on Bricklink and thank the designer. It is so perfect.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted Classic Space Logo, but that Ursa Major was hard to pass over!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ursa Major. For the striking visual appeal. Simple and cohesive.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Such a hard decision... So many great options!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers:
More “Classic Space” than the Classic Space logo?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Adventures of the USS cardboard is incorrect. USS stands for United States Ship and it only applies to those ships which are active in the commission of the United States Navy. The United States Navy would not commission an aircraft that is for space. Hopefully, this title is changed if this idea wins, because it is misrepresenting those ships commissioned by the United States.

LEGO may be keen to avoid any confusion with the US Navy given its policy against portraying modern military themes. But USS in this entry’s case probably stands for United Space Ship, not United States Ship. USS is a Star Trek designation so the name is only ‘incorrect’ in the sense that LEGO doesn’t have an ST licence and therefore lacks the right to use it (though, strictly speaking, copyright doesn’t persist in a name anyway). My guess is that LEGO would change the name to Adventures of the Spaceship Cardboard should it win.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh hey! They're still going with the USS Cardboard even though i doesn't comply with their new rules about having the name of the Ideas project on the pics. no one can do that now, which is dumb, now no one can give out the specifications and point at an exact part that they need to describe! What was the reasoning i wonder. Maybe more stupidity ruined another thing (I want you, Kinder Eggs!) by putting inappropriate words in the pics... Aghh, I'm voting the USS Cardboard, maybe.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My favorite is Discovery of a New Planet, I would be happy with any of these as a GWP.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Zander:
You absolutely can copyright a name. You can trademark a name, too. But copyrighting a prefix like USS becomes problematic because you've got both the United States Navy and Paramount's Star Trek using it, which effectively prevents anyone else from claiming copyright on the "USS" part. You could still copyright the full name of a ship, including the "USS" part, like "USS Corkblower"*, but that still leaves a seemingly infinite range of options for "USS Something-Something".

@CaptainVictoria:
The rules change said that after a certain date, no cover photos could have text added that wasn't part of the model. Anything that was already in the pipeline got grandfathered in, which appears to include several of the projects in this contest. These are just the finalists, though, so I'm guessing the entry period closed before that rule was even announced.

They're all good, but my favorites are Ursa Major and the Observatory.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Astronomy lab would go well with my Harry Potter collection, but I love the Ursa major one.

No, it’s a common misconception that you can copyright a name, but you can’t: ‘Names are not protected by copyright law’ copyright.gov . That has been challenged in various jurisdictions and pretty much universally upheld. If I produced mortar for real bricks (not construction toy ones) and wanted to call my mortar Brickset, I certainly could. Huw would have no recourse under copyright law.

The letters ‘USS’ by themselves aren’t distinctive from a legal point of view, so could not be trademarked either. However, if they were in a design (font, colour, arrangement etc) that rendered them distinctive and therefore possible to associate with a particular product or brand, that design could be trademarked. Returning to the Brickset example: if Huw trademarked the BRICKSET logo (and possibly even if he did not), its colour, font and the boldness of ‘SET’ would confer protection under trademark law. If my Brickset mortar’s name/logo was written in lower case italics with alternating red and black letters, it would not violate Huw’s trademark and I would be free to use my name/logo.

Some US states allow you to trademark a business name alone when you register an enterprise there, but those trademarks aren’t necessarily recognised by other US states and not recognised at all internationally.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ursa Major or the Classic Space Logo are the best designs! Hopefully one of those will win!

You're right, I definitely thought that cardboard box was commissioned by the United States.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Zander:
I dug into a bit, and yes, it turns out you can't copyright the name itself, but it's also true that the name can be protected under copyright. Lets look at the most famous copyright. Disney copyrighted Steamboat Willie. Under that copyright, the character Mickey Mouse is protected, including the name "Mickey Mouse" A number of years ago, before Disney managed to swing their final copyright extension through US Congress, they were scrambling to stick every major version of Mickey Mouse into a logo to claim protection under trademark law, because the instant Steamboat Willie fell into public domain, so too would Mickey Mouse lose any protections enjoyed under copyright law.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Surprised no actual mini-fig spaceships made the final 15, as mention 'Lego space' and that is what everyone thinks off, especially as even the larger classic space ships only used less than 250 pieces. Although there were lots of designs similar to previous ships, there were also plenty of original concepts which had my vote, mainly as difficult to recreate yourself when they use difficult to find pieces in new ways.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ambr:
I count no less than three minifig-scale spaceships, excluding ground craft. Commuter Capsule Docking has a small capsule that appears capable of seating a single minifig, though it doesn't stand out much from the scenery that surrounds it. Discovery of a New Planet has a 50's pulp-style rocket, and while it might be "standing room only" (but so was Apollo 11's Eagle lander), the opening hatch indicates that the minifig should be able to fit inside. Finally, there's Bob's Unexpected Space Adventure, and while the alien pilot may not be a proper minifig, I have no doubt that there's enough room to fit one inside the cockpit (once you extract the tentacle monster that's presently seated there).
