LEGO has uploaded images of the Looney Tunes minifigures to the Malaysian part of its site, although they are not yet listed in the US or European online stores.

I've added them to the database: you can view them all here. Look out for our review later today!

That's all beautiful, folks!

By in United States,

My local toy store (Washington DC area) has them, somehow.

Which is doubly weird b/c their shipments from Lego have been slow and spotty according to the owner, and somehow they get a product that’s not supposed to be out until next month. Go figure.

@Huw, just to let you know that Lola Bunny has the group shot of all 16 as her image rather than a close up in the database.

So the cheese wedge piece is now a literal cheese wedge!

An IMMEDIATE purchase. Details are outstanding! These I covet more than I did the Simpson release. Local store (Nashville, TN USA) told me yesterday they did not yet have. Will return to the store myself for these figures (I usually just send 17yrs old daughter) as I need to be sure of each individual character.

By in Netherlands,

They are growing on me. My wife wants them so i had to make peace with them eventually. Better sooner than later.
RoadRunner would have benefitted with some feathery prints on his torso. I now see why they didn’t use blue hips. It would made his torso too long, making it look that he has short legs. But this way he looks too bland. Maybe Big Birds legs will make him look nicer (not more accurate)

Entering uncanny valley as far as I'm concerned, on the whole these characters just don't translate well to minifigure form at all with some especially notable low points (Tweety sticks out to me in that respect).

I'll remove if but for some reason she is not shown in the group shots.

By in Ireland,

I love this series so much. My only complaint is that Lola doesn’t have a printed basketball. I don’t even care if Road Runner and Tweety don’t have bird legs somehow. It’s enough that they have amazing moulded heads, they’re Lego figures after all they should look like Lego. I just hope they bring out a second series eventually with Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, and Tiny Toons characters.

Maybe it's a European (Austrian?) thing, but Petunia, Lola and Marty hardly ever appeared in the cartoons I was watching as a kid. Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd and Pepe Le Pew are more prominent charactes IMO.

Expect prices for green lantern torsos to shoot up now that people can make an accurate Green Loontern :)

By in Ireland,

I think Pepe Le Pew has been a recent victim of cancel culture unfortunately, I would also have loved to have seen a Lego figure version of him, but it seems unlikely. :( And maybe because Elmer is always carrying a shotgun around, we might not see him in minifigure form either. :(

Same here in Germany, where the characters mainly appeared in a cartoon series called "Mein Name ist Hase" when I was a kid. It became a cult classic, but unfortunately the original was redubbed sometime after the Eighties and the classic version was never broadcast again. Shame really.
There was also a show about Speedy Gonzalez ("Die schnellste Maus von Mexiko"), but some other characters I have never heard about nor seen, like this Martian guy and Petunia Pig.
This, plus the bad translation of characters like Tweety or Roadrunner severely limits the appeal of this series for me.

Only the Martian and that's it.

Ah, was wondering if Road Runner came with anything. Is that bird feed?

Everyone except him looks top-notch BTW

It probably would have been too big/expensive for a CMF, but it's such a missed opportunity for them to not have used the spinjitzu tornado piece for the Tasmanian Devil.

What’s the official release date of these?

It’s 2021. I’m sure that cat has filed a restraining order against Pepe LePew by now. As for Elmer, who knows? LEGO made Reaper and prominently advertised he was carrying Hellfire Shotguns, so I doubt the realistic firearm is a concern for them.

@Spike730:
You couldn’t (accurately) remember seeing Lola Bunny as a kid unless you were born in the 80’s or later, as her first appearance was in the 1996 film, Space Jam (this is also why she has the most complex styling of all these characters). Petunia Pig was an infrequent sidekick to Porky in the early days, until Porky was relegated to sidekick status himself. She continued to appear in merchandise, but it sounds like she mostly got the occasional cameo after that.

Of the three, Marvin is by far the most famous. Originally only appearing in five shorts (four vs Bugs, and the famous Duck Dodgers in the 24-1/2th Century short), he didn’t even have a name until much later. Between Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action, he saw a resurgence in popularity that led to him becoming probably one of the ten most merchandised Looney Tunes characters (Bugs, Daffy, Taz, and Tweety are probably top four, but I could see Marvin being 5). He’s probably had more screen time in the modern Duck Dodgers series than in all prior appearances combined. One of the more interesting times he could be seen was in 1977. George Lucas like the original Duck Dodgers short so much he requested that it be shown before the first Star Wars film.

By in Australia,

Just like Mcdonalds did here in Australia when they released Looney Tunes characters they virtually had them all except for Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd. I just cant understand why these two characters have not been included in this release. Unlike Mcdonalds who also included Foghorn Leghorn Lego also didnt include him either. They even had Granny of tweety and Sylvester fame. I love the characters but Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd and Foghorn Leghorn were three great characters from Looney Tunes. I would even argue some of the funniest cartoons included Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. The three cartoons are of them in Ancient Rome, Yosemite Sam with the dragon as a Knight and the one where they are fighting from fort to fort. So sad.

I'd gladly trade Lola Bunny and Petunia Pig to have two more iconic characters like Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam. And since the Roadrunner looks so bad as a full-sized figure torso/legs combo, I'd rather a smaller Roadrunner be an accessory that comes with Wile E Coyote and we use Roadrunner's figure spot for Foghorn Leghorn. That way we get the three major missing characters and this set actually feels complete. If they really want to add either Petunia or Lola, then make Tweetie an accessory to Sylvester and use that spot for one of them. Again, an easy solve if the person designing this set actually knows Looney Tunes well enough to correctly select the most popular figures.

It's curious why they'd leave out Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam from a Looney Tunes set. Is it because they happened to have cartoon guns as their most notable props? No, we see Marvin the Martian has his laser gun. And the lack of a matching "Duck Season" sign is hopefully a "sign" that there's going to be a second series of these that includes the missing iconic characters. Elmer could have his shotgun and missing "Duck Season" sign as accessories, and Yosemite Sam would have his two six-shooters and perhaps a little cartoon dynamite stick.

By in Australia,

I love them all, although I do think Petunia and Lola are slightly obscure characters compared to some others. I’m thinking Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Pepe Le Pew and Foghorn Leghorn.

Oh well, hopefully a series two is on the way.

For those who are complaining about the inclusion of Lola and Petunia, I just read a comment on another site pointing out that these are the only two females in this batch. Twelve minifigs, ten male characters, and two female characters. That presents a gender ratio that hasn't been seen since S2-4. If they do a second series, there again aren't that many notable females left to pick, and the two at the top of the list (Granny and Witch Hazel) would work best with minifigs in this group (Sylvester/Tweety and plain Bugs, respectively).

I'm glad I already assembled my Green Loontern, aside from the head. I took action as soon as I saw that we were getting them. I also bought the Mighty Micros Superman torso to make a Super Rabbit.

By in Austria,

Wait what? Tweety isn't female?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Spike730 :
Nope. There’s been some confusion over that, between the pitch of his voice and the exaggerated eyelashes (making this possibly the first male LEGO minifig to have eyelash deco), but there have been a few Looney Tunes shorts that confirmed that he is, in fact, male. Frankly, the bright yellow plumage should be a dead giveaway, when you think about it. Male songbirds are often brightly colored, while the females tend to be camouflaged to blend in to their nesting grounds.

Now, that does not mean Tweety wasn’t counted as a third female by the CMF team. But if he was, that was a mistake. It would perhaps explain the huge gender disparity, if they thought they’d at least managed 3:1 instead of the actual 5:1 ratio.

While that's a neat data point, I'm interested in the set having the most popular Looney Tunes figures, not trying to force arbitrary ratios. We can't change what the cast's ratio was back in the day, and we also can't change which characters were most popular. Skipping popular characters to include lesser ones purely for the sake of arbitrary and transitory sensibilities is everything wrong with everything today. Not including several of the most popular characters is a greater "sin", imho.

@yacoub :
Currently, the CMF wave with the biggest gender imbalance is S1, which is 7:1, having only two females (Cheerleader & Nurse) in a batch of 16 minifigs. If you drop Lola and Petunia for any mix of Elmer, Sam, and Foghorn, that would hand this the record with 12:0, and result in a lot of uncomfortable questions regarding how they could even do a Looney Tunes series if they couldn't figure out even a couple token females to toss into the group.

Besides, no licensed CMF wave has packed all the A-listers in the first batch because then if you do a sequel series the best you've got left to offer is B-listers. You've got several of the most popular characters, and you've got some less popular characters to balance things out. That's pretty standard.

Is Porky the first instance of part 970 in Light Nougat?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CopperTablet:
If you mean hips, then yes. Nobody expected to ever see that part produced. Yellow hips (with black legs) exist, ironically, because Castle minifigs tended to get the codpiece look, but the expectation was that we’d never see hips in this color because they’d have to give a yellow minifig a fleshie codpiece or pants. And instead we get a fleshie minifig that’s naked from the waist down. Never in a million years would have expected that one...
