Pictures of this year's May the Fourth Gift With Purchase, 40451 Tatooine Homestead, have been found in the LEGO instructions app.

It's the fourth in the series of Star Wars vignettes featuring locations from the original trilogy. The spend threshold to acquire it is believed to be £/$/€ 85.

We'll be publishing our review of it later today.

By in United States,

These are really cool.

If they ever bring back Lord of the Rings it would be an incredible theme for some landscape/monument vignette sets like this. Or just a straight up architecture subtheme.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Rather weak and boring imo. I miss minifigs ;(

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I do like the idea of these, just bothers me how out of scale everything is

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don’t think any of the parts are unique to this set. So with the instructions - and maybe even without - it shouldn’t be hard to replicate this vignette with parts you already have or can get on the secondary market or through Bricks and Pieces.

Gravatar
By in Jordan,

Looks pretty good! I especially like the cliffs and the landspeeder. I can also see a printed tile on the sandcrawler.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fourth? I’ve got the Space Slug, Hoth, Endor, and DS2. There’s also another pair of microscale scenes at a slightly larger scale depicting this same scene and Dagobah.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I actually prefer these cute little scenes to minifigs. Oh well, I guess I'm in a minority.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I reckon half of of us could make this at home with even more detail and it'd be cheaper!
The Endor version was better..

Do better lego!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm very happy with this reveal and it will round out my trilogy microscale scenes perfectly. Tatooine and the Lars family homestead made a powerful impact on child me.

The slug and the others you mention are not the same size/by the same designer.

By in Spain,

Without an exclusive minifigure, I do not plan to enter the Lego store.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The complaints over no minifigure are kind of silly to me.

Like, for years people complained of exclusive, difficult to get minifigures that fetch a hefty sum on the aftermarket.

The switch to models that can easily be replicated picking up pieces off Bricklink is a good one, IMO.

I wouldn't mind if they brought back minifigures, I guess, but if they do IMO it should be something like variations on existing figures. To use Ghostbusters figures as an example, something like Peter Venkman would be available in a set and something like slimed Peter Venkman would be a GWP or Con exclusive.

Presumably the date tile and the sandcrawler are printed. The tile from last year's was printed."

They may well be printed, but the date tile isn’t essential to complete the scene, just the set. As for the sandcrawler’s door, I reckon the vehicle would look as good with a plain tile. YMMV.

I’m inclined to agree with @legoavenger14 that many Bricksetters could do better with already owned parts.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This could quite easily do double duty as a Mandalorian scene with minor chane

Gravatar
By in Poland,

By changing the subject: Please tell me, when will you post the second part of review 43101-13 LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates Series 1?

It was supposed to be in February!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I - for one - am a huge fan of these dioramas. This one will make a fine addition to my collection.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What happens if you part pay for your order with VIP points so that the balance due is less than £/$/€ 85 ? Do you still get the promo? Anyone know the answer to this?

As long as the initial amount is over or at the threshold for the GWP, you will get it no matter how many points you use to reduce the end amount.

I just wish they would announce some discounts on Star Wars sets for the weekend. We didn't have any 20% off last year did we? I can't remember right now.

Yes, you get it.

I can't speak to this SPECIFIC promotion, but historically I've found you need to be paying a £/$/whatever value in excess of the stated amount to get the benefit - including free shipping, GWP and so on.

As for the diorama itself - I've got nothing against it, but I'm also not desperate to get it either (might be different if I had the others in the set, but I've got none of them). I will say I prefer them to the minifigs they used to do though!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I really like this one.
Only thing I dislike is the Disney logo on the box ;-)

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Love it! Best since Hoth.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does it bother anyone else that on the base of Hoth set the studs are on the right and on the other 3 the studs are on the left. I had thought joining them all together might look good.

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

This one is better than some of the other MTF promos of this type, but I would still like something new and different

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

This is very ugly no offence

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Divisive as usual, but I'll always come down on the side of a substantial build over a single figure. Plus, as has been said, if you miss this you can recreate it a lot more easily than you could an exclusive figure.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I quite like it -It’s better than the Endor one at any rate IMO

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

It’s nice but for the big ugly sign.

Gravatar
By in Israel,

"I can't believe they're doing another Luke's Landspeeder!"

Just kidding.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like these microscale vignettes (except for the Endor one) and this one looks like one of the best. I love the depth of the homestead. Much better than just a flat thing like the Endor one. And it's a lot of parts to get for free, which I'm always happy about.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ah nice one. Looking good!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don’t usually buy Star Wars but if this is the GWP for the R2-D2 set then I may just have to get it.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ehh, not that exciting, feels like too much parts were put into the landscaping.

Gravatar

@PurpleDave said:

Some of those weren’t GWPs. The Space Slug was a convention exclusive, as were the Dagobah etc.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I must admit that I side with these sets over a random exclusive mini figure...

But I hope that both sides of the debate are satisfied if LEGO eventually announce a Star Wars Collectible minifigures series...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love these things. Hopefully the Probe Droid is in stock come the 1st.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cmon Lego. Give the people what we really want. Let us take a survey for the coming years on what could possibly be made. I get it if someone bought the previous vignettes and they want to complete the set but we need something different going forward.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah right. Oh wait, the site just crashed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw:
I mean, I knew the convention pair were at a much larger scale, but I know I’m not the only one who always counted the Space Slug as being the first set in this series. As I recall, there was a lot of complaining that they’d done the same thing as Brickheadz and Microfighters, where they made the first release incredibly rare before giving everyone access to the second release on. I haven’t actually built any of them yet, though, so I wasn’t aware that there’s a size difference.

@Mr__Thrawn:
Nope. Lars Homestead and Dagobah were (one from SDCC and the other from SWC), but the Space Slug was some sort of in-store event that required you to RSVP to an invite so they could send out exactly enough copies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Easy pass.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Knew I should have held off on buying the Probe Droid. Oh well, gives a reason to buy the Darth Vader helmet and something else small to get to the threshold.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks good...

Wait I just realized my intials are MTF. Seriously I solved so many advanced cryptography puzzles and have frquently used "infinately many" to secure information beyond NSA reach, yet with three small letters you owned me - do I get extra freebies because of the miracle of it? How about a free imperial shuttle polybag? Maybe a dots polybag?

I know maybe a reveal of 30626?
(SPOILER ALERT on that last one)
;-) look it up on brickset you will understand there "is" a spoiler shown be warned

(30625 is Blue Milk Luke, Obi-Wan was 30624)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

why would they do the same scene again? it looks good but why not so something original??

You might have missed the memo, any action Lego takes needs to be met negatively. Updated minifig of a previous character? Boo, we've already gotten them before and now my collection won't be complete. Minifig of a new character? Boo, exclusives are bad and I don't like the character they chose, they should have done *person who got 4.6 seconds of screentime.* Vingettes with exclusive pieces? Boo, I want minifigs and now I can't build it without getting those pieces (because lord knows I won't be satisfied with something that doesn't look exactly like the box). Vingettes without exclusive pieces? Boo, I want minifigs and what's the point if none of the pieces are exclusive?

As the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then you're perfect for the comment section"

@SMC said:

That's definitely weird for Hoth to be the odd one out, but looking at the build it seems relatively straightforward to build it in reverse without substantially changing the layout

Gravatar
By in United States,

This would have been a good set to include an Aunt Beru figure that we've never gotten...heck, up the threshold to $100 if it helps.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it. It looks cute!

This is original for anyone not at some convention (only 317 brickset users claim to have it), and also wanting it to match in with the style of the others in this series."

I cant really argue with your response, I only "have" it because I downloaded the instructions and ordered all the parts from Lego. I guess I'm just feeling selfish and would have liked something "new" :)
LOL

By in France,

I wasn't a big fan of these diorama sets before but this one totally does it for me, I don't quite know why !

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Brick_Belt:
The minifigs were only difficult to get if you forgot that May comes after April. Unlike some GWPs, I’ve never heard of one selling out in a matter of hours. Do they run out? Sure, if you’re waiting until the final hours, they may be sweeping up the confetti by the time you arrive. Get your order in the first day, and you should be fine (except the Shadow Arf Trooper if you didn’t notice the checkbox to confirm that yes, you did want them to give you the GWP you qualified for). Show up a year later, and absolutely those minifigs could be very expensive (except Hoth Han, because...well...)

@Brodie:
85 before discounts are applied. In North America, it’s also pre-tax. Watch out for the pennies, too. Buy an £84.99 set, and it will probably not count as meeting the £85 minimum. In the US, we’ve sometimes been granted leniency where an advertised $85 spend may in fact be set to trigger at $84.99 or even $84, but _NEVER_ plan for that to be the case.

@ch1ma3ra:
Promos and free shipping are triggered before you enter payment info. Once you’ve qualified, they don’t care how you pay for it. VIP points count as money towards the purchase, not a coupon for a price reduction, which is an important distinction.

@imemine98:

This is a May 4th GWP. Any SW purchase that meets the spending threshold will qualify, not just a specific set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a huge Star Wars fan since 1978 and an obvious Lego fan, I don't know why anyone would want this bland, unplayable, out of scale, micro landscape of sand, much less why you would make a large purchase for the sole reason of getting this GWP. Granted, I'm not much of a micro scale enthusiast, but some of the previous micro scale GWP sets were much better than this. The GWP Batmobile blows all other GWP's out of the water. I'd much rather have that or sets like the Amelia Earhart plane or Vintage Car as a GWP.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

This is great but isn't this one a SDCC set?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I love these mini dioramas, but not when you have to make an 85 buck purchase to get one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Tatooine is *probably* my favorite location in the Star Wars universe. Very excited for this one.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

*sigh* I was hoping that by Lara Homestead they were doing the Binary Sunset scene.

Also don’t ask why they decided to omit a collectable Owen and Beru. I still like it overall though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At last a May 4th GWP that I could care less about. While I would like to purchase the new R2 on day one, I won’t have to stay up late just to be disappointed by TLG terrible website issues or their micro scale inventory on said GWP.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Beautiful!
The minifigs, or microfigs are hilarious.
I prefer by far a construction set than a minifigurine. More parts, more interesting building experience, more to see, more possibilities to build other things, etc.
