New product launches at LEGO.com
Posted by Huw,
A number of new products are being launched at LEGO.com on Monday, 26th April, including the new Star Wars helmets and Imperial Probe Droid.
It is unfortunate, then, that LEGO has claimed that they are 'limited stock' in its email marketing. It's impossible for us to know whether they are indeed in short supply, or whether it's just marketing hyperbole to encourage us to order them early.
So, will you order them now, or risk it and wait until the May the Fourth promotions commence next weekend?
I've listed all the new products after the break.
Star Wars
DC Comics
- 76180 Batman vs. The Joker: Batmobile Chase
- 76182 Batman Cowl
- 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile
Collectible Minifigures
- 71030 Looney Tunes
Marvel

If they show up on our pitiful excuse for a Lego.com here in Brazil, I'll definitely pre-order the helmets and probe... Alas, hope is the last one to die as they say, right?
Hey all the batman sets link to 76180 Batman vs. The Joker: Batmobile Chase.
Thanks, sorted.
Shame there's still no sign of the Shang-Chi sets, especially with them starting to show up on random shop shelves.
Limited stock of the UCS Probe Droid one week before May 4th?
I believe that they're limited in the same way that the amount of breathable air is "limited".
So an anybody tell me when the LEGO Minions Rise of Gru sets are releasing? I thought it was the twenty-sixth.
I received a LEGO marketing email this morning about these sets, and it stated: "Shop early to avoid disappointment". Rather odd/straightforward for them...
The 21325 was advertised exactly in the same way. Hurry, limited stock....and it was never sold out.
I was thinking it was a limited edition and it wasn’t.
Probably same here. It is probably better to wait the first May or another promotion later if they are already sold out.
Here’s hoping the summer Ninjago sets get official reveals soon.
LEGO knows that people will pay full price with no GWP because they want the set day one. They are getting really good at milking these 18+ sets.
Well, this pretty much ruins the May 1st shopping I was going to do. It's going to hard to reach the $110 threshold if the helmets are sold out
I try to avoid buying new sets for May 4th (you never know if they'll come out with a must-have GWP and a steaming pile for new sets), so I'm just going to figure out which older sets I'll b shooting for to get the GWP.
With all the debacles this year will definitely be waiting until Lego fixes their ways.
Frankly, at this point the use of the term 'limited stock' in their marketing seems redundant to me. Lately so many new releases at Lego.com go out of stock so fast that 'limited stock' seems to be the new normal. Why bother? It sucks but sadly it looks like that's not gonna change any time soon.
No Thanks. Lego.
Are all of these “limited stock” or just the helmets and probe?
Don’t forget Shang Chi and Minions
Tomorrow/ 26th
Lego has had high demand over the past year. These days, because many things do go out of stock quickly, I do buy items I want immediately.
My presumption is that such a notice just warns people, hey... these days it is better to buy earlier, because some items will go out of stock fast. While I am sure sometimes Lego knows what will go out of stock fast, due to having a limited stock, I am sure at other points this past year, they have been caught off guard. Better for your average parent consumer to know it is better to buy early these days.
I pre-ordered the droid a while back. It has already shipped I believe.
76188 is the only set on that list I'm interested in so, thankfully, limited or not isn't relevant.
Though I do appreciate knowing the stock is limited as I have a friend who recently started collecting SW Lego and somehow doesn't read Brickset.
Based on what we learned about the lego company these past several years, it's safe to say it's most likely just marketing hyperbole lol
They've done this before - releasing SW sets before May 4th promotions and having them sold out during said promotion.
The first set of helmets sold out very quickly, so they may not be lying, but I'm content to wait for the promotion period and if they're available, great, if not, I'll get 'em on sale somewhere later.
I pre-ordered My Star Wars helmets and droid last month when they had the 2x VIP, they shipped yesterday!
Not really related but anyone know if there will be Architecture sets anytime soon or at all? Really enjoy that line however haven't seen anything yet.
Oh lord, imagine if there was something like a global crisis causing things to slow down and reduce production. Then we'd REALLY see limited stock of many high-demand consumer products.
Seeing as how that hasn't happened at all, lets jump to the conclusion that companies like Lego are just being incompetent for no reason.

Thank you
I suspect the limited stock warning is simply in response to everyone complaining when something goes out of stock. Not that it will prevent people from complaining, but still.
Why would anyone buy with single VIP points and no gift with purchase? If the reason is "because they might be out of stock on Saturday," then please remember that these items will be sold for a year if not two before they retire--they're not 77904 Nebulon B or the Ulysses Space Probe. You could have pre-ordered and gotten double VIP points last week or pre-ordered and received a gift with purchase a month ago. Any Star Wars Lego fan knows May the 4th promotions happen every year. If you anticipate wanting the GWP, then maybe wait to make your purchases until then.
10283 NASA Space Shuttle remains in stock, the first big product release in a while that hasn't moved to either backorder or temporarily out of stock status, a sign the production and distribution systems may be returning to normal. I'm waiting to order it until Brick Friday or another big promotion that offers double VIP points and a high minimum threshold for a gift with purchase. I'll do the same with the Porsche. I don't have to have any particular toy right this instant. Space out purchases for maximum rewards--then you're not struggling to come up with something to buy just because you want a particular GWP.
What @FuddRuckes said.
I will be getting some of these. But I will wait untill they are in a retail store at 20% or more discount. I'm not in a hurry, I have plenty of sealed Lego sets still waiting to be built.

There is a small gwp, DOTS Mini Frame for ($35) purchase, Apr 26 - May 9.
Also I see the May store calendar is released, but it doesn't have any new information.
@bbalit:
They'll have 2x Points for May 4th, plus the GWP. So, as long as someone orders right when the promos go live, you'd get both.
@FuddRuckus:
I try to order older SW sets for May 4th for that very reason. Nobody is going to be scrambling to get the Stormtrooper or TIE Pilot helmets, but the new ones will be hit pretty hard next weekend.
And the continued availability of the Discovery could just be that many people swore off buying it at all, or opted to wait until there was some promotion they could pair it with. As it happened, the only promo up for grabs on launch was the Classic Space coin, which you had to buy with points, and then place an order for pretty much anything to pair with the code and trigger shipment. So you could still push off purchase of the Discovery until later.

10283 Space Shuttle is second after the 10295 Porsche 911 for major releases that have managed to stay in stock. However, 21325 Medieval Blacksmith and 21326 Winnie the Pooh both went out of stock (North America market). So it's still rather difficult for us consumers to predict availability.
@Nytmare:
That would be the Porsche set where they announced at the last minute would not come with the limited gift pack in North America, which they ran out of in two seconds in Europe? Do I see a pattern here?
71030 Looney Tunes minifigures 1-pack has a limit of 16 online.
66667 Looney Tunes minifigures 6-pack has a limit of 18 (not sure if this is available in all regions).
Also the three Minions sets were released today, at least in North America region. Are they delayed in Europe? No word on the upcoming Minions polybag -- maybe it could be a gwp later in the year?
There are two Minions Brickheadz sets that also quietly released today:
- 40420 Gru, Stuart and Otto
- 40421 Belle Bottom, Kevin and Bob
I see the United States has the Shang Chi sets, how come they’re not released in the UK yet?
I'd like to get the May 4th GWP set, and combine that with the 2x VIP point offer, but I have already pre-ordered the Probe Droid from JB Spielwaren as they had a cool SW offer for May 4th as well. So I really don't know what to buy from shop.lego.com to get the GWP as there are currently no other SW sets that interest me. Perhaps I'll just buy the GWP set later from Bricklink.
Honestly, I'm glad that they're marketing these sets as limited stock. LEGO has done an abysmal job of keeping sets stocked up in Australia recently, and by that I mean the last 5 years. It's been a consistent since well before the pandemic. Picked up the 66 Batmobile today at the certified store, about to start building it, but the Star Wars helmets and probe were sold out.
This is such a scummy tactic. Lego should either wait until the "May fourth" (aka May first) promos go live to release new sets like this. Or if they offer them early they should at least allow unlimited backorders since presumably these new sets are meant to be continually produced and sold for quite some time. I have been trying to buy the cantina and sith art sets during a promotion since they released and they have always been out of stock. I wouldn't mind waiting for them if Lego allowed backorders. But apparently saving a couple bucks on a GWP they would need to include in my order is more important to them than my satisfaction and loyalty.
With how poorly Lego has been treating it's biggest supporters for so long now I am tempted to try to sell off my huge collection and take up a different hobby.
How is it that companies and goverments haven't adapted to COVID?
I preordered the probe droid but honestly not sure why I did as I could probably get it in stores before I get it from Lego. The other two i'll wait on for May 4th weekend. If they're not available then i'll wait a few months and get them when they're 20% off at Target or elsewhere
Limited stock... Every stock in the world is limited, so it's like saying the Earth is fla... I mean round!
This is only marketing, intended to create hype and a false sense of urgency to boost demand.
One would think TLG has hired plenty of Wall Street wannabe's lately...

You say that but in the UK the TIE Pilot helmet has been consistently out of stock on Lego.com since its release.
Or wait a month (at the most) until all the non-exclusive stuff is 25% off on Amazon.
@Qwickshot:
Fair enough. But for me, I’ve seen it in the local LEGO Store, I’ve seen it at (I think) Target, and I’ve seen it on LEGO.com on a day when nobody cares about trying to order SW sets. There’s a pretty decent list of 2020 SW sets I would still like to grab, so I’m probably fine. And if not, I can try for the new helmets and Probe Droid.

Not available in Australia yet either. No idea why…
April 26th came and went. Stock still full on Lego.com. Yawn. Nice one at Lego but we know your foolery. :) wake me up when it’s May 1... zzzz...zzz.
I’ll wait for the next Double VIP Points event to pick up this next wave of super hero sets.
So limited that the purchase limit for the probe droid has gone up from 2 to 5!
