Summer Vidiyo sets revealed!
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has just published a press release concerning the summer Vidiyo sets, which have also been added to LEGO.com.
The new selection consists of eight sets, which will be released in 1st August: Bandmates series 2, two new BeatBoxes and five 'regular' sets. I've added them to the database and you'll also find images of them all after the break.
43108 Bandmates Series 2
43109 Metal Dragon BeatBox
43110 Folk Fairy BeatBox
43111 Candy Castle Stage
Includes 2 minifigures Candy Ballerina and Blue-beary Guitarist with accessories, 14 random BeatBits and 2 special BeatBits (carousel horses and top hat & cane dance). Make changes to the real-life LEGO model to change the scenery in your VIDIYO music videos – like switching the heads to create a digital ice cream forest or chocolate canyon background. Measures over 13 cm high, 14 cm long and 17 cm wide.
43112 Robo HipHop Car
Includes 2 minifigures Sing Bot and Bass Bot with accessories, 14 random BeatBits and 2 special BeatBits (robot sounds and graffiti artwork). Make changes to the real-life LEGO model to change the scenery in your VIDIYO music videos – like switching the heads to create a digital high-tech garage or graffiti car park background. Measures over 8 cm high, 18 cm long and 12 cm wide.
43113 K-Pawp Concert
Includes 3 minifigures Bunny Guitarist, Kitten Keytaris and Flying Unicorn Singer with musical accessories, 14 random BeatBits and 3 special BeatBits (matching costumes, black and pink filter and K-Pop dance poses). Make changes to the real-life LEGO model to change the scenery in your VIDIYO music videos – like switching the unicorn head for a cat head to see the video backgrounds change. Measures over 13 cm high, 14 cm long and 30 cm wide.
43114 Punk Pirate Ship
3 minifigures Squid Drummer, Shark Guitarist and Mermaid Violinist with musical accessories, 14 random BeatBits and 3 special BeatBits (surf on a shark, cannon salute and pirate dancing). Make changes to the real-life LEGO model to change the scenery in your VIDIYO music videos – like swapping the skull head for a shark head or changing the treasure chest speakers to cannons. Measures over 19 cm high, 24 cm long and 18 cm wide.
43115 The Boombox
Includes 4 minifigures Alien Singer, Leopard Guitarist, Fairy Singer and Vampire Guitarist with musical accessories, 14 random BeatBits and 4 special BeatBits (motorbike, magical fire, neon paint costume and synthwave style music). Make changes to the real-life LEGO model to change the scenery in your VIDIYO music videos with a choice of 4 different heads, speakers and lights, each inspired by a different music genre. The life-size Boombox model transforms into the biggest VIDIYO stage, measuring over 16 cm high, 23 cm long and 35 cm wide.

These as actual music related play sets for kids, not involving the use of the app, actually look quite good.
The "Summer Vidiyo sets" alone sounds quite surprising!
Now we can expect series 1 to reach even lower prices as shelves are cleared ready for S2
The only extra interesting part seems to be the CLEAR TRANSPARENT WINGS here:
https://images.brickset.com/sets/AdditionalImages/43113-1/43113_alt2.jpg
Anybody else sees anything extra ordinary? Do let me know.
I have no interest in Vidiyo as a concept but must admit that some of the minifigures/minifigure parts are cool. The dragon and folk fairy in particular appeal to me as does the squid head piece.
Shame that many of the Bandmates are just opposites of their Series 1 counterparts, but there’s some unique figs in there.
That Boombox stage is pretty great though.
I actually like the look of these. Prices are decent, lots of parts in interesting colours and some nice new moulds for hair, heads, instruments and so on.
I wonder how Vidiyo would have been received if these had been revealed at the start...
Surprisingly cool, especially the bigger sets of the line.
might pickup the punk pirate-ship
I hate how much I want every single one of those awesome minifigs.
Trans-clear legs? Dragon figures? I'm onboard.
Although, looking at it, a few of those figures are just repaints from series one. Phew. That'll make this a less expensive exercise.
LEGO VIDIYO: Now featuring some actual construction!
These look vastly better than the previous range and the minifigures continue to impress.
Transparent legs! How long till we get a trans-clear force ghost. At least one good thing might come out of the change to murky transparent plastic.
So many cool minifigures....
Please tell me, when will you post the second part of review 43101-13 LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates Series 1?
I'm waiting and waiting.
I spy some nice new parts. Always good to get more musical instruments. I like the axe guitar. The transparent legs caught my eye too. And a few more album cover tiles!
Why weren't those stages in the first wave? This is something kids can actually play with, good!

We were not sent them all so probably won't be able to.
I wonder why they didn't lead with this. The BeatBoxes don't seem to be selling on their own, this seems like a much stronger wave.
*gulp* actual good sets from... Vidiyo?
Now it looks like Vidiyo replaced Hidden Side, as it uses the same AR and all kinds of turning knobs to activate different scenarios in the app.
This looks to be everything that Vidiyo should have been from the start. These look like a better selection of characters, and some actual building. I'd been thinking of putting together something along these lines as an MoC, so if the prices more reasonable than wave 1, some of this might actually find its way onto my wish list.
Those figures !!! Wow!!!
That Boom Box set looks cool, it's a day-one purchase for me (day one of it being 50% off).
The 'world' of Vidiyo seems so much more together now that there are some structures for the figs to use and inhabit. I can see the various bands or factions making a lot more sense now. Prior to these 'proper' sets being shown the whole thing seems too much of a randomised mess for my liking.
I'd quite like an outrageous metal band now...
The Vidiyo sets are dope, I love them
Why are punks rockers pirates in this series? Not a complaint, I'm just wondering where the logic or idea came from
I have no real interest in the app, but I'm tempted to get The Boombox for various reasons, among them the fairy's wings, the axe axe, and all those different-colored tiles. And It looks pretty cool in boombox mode, too. And heck, another vampire guitarist! My Marceline would have someone to jam with!
Am I the only one who thinks the Robo HipHop car looks like it was attacked with fried eggs?
My personal favorites: the blob-guy, the squid and the “axe” part.
That BOombox is a must buy
I love them all. The pirates will join me for sure.

Probably for no reason other than kids in focus groups thinking pirates are cool.
They are really going all out with the minifig molds, hope they can get use in other ranges in the future otherwise that's a lot of money to have spent on making molds for a line that so far seems to have flopped. In Australia there has been up to 50% off these at various times, pretty sure Amazon have them on permanent discount. Got a few of the blind boxes just out of curiosity, guess a minifig collector would love them but otherwise don't get the appeal, but then I'm on the target audience lol!
Some cool parts in this wave, but as a set I only would like to have the fairy figure.
However, there is no way that I would pay 20 Euro for this, even 10 seems overpriced to me, so I probably will never get it. :(
The fairy figure includes a stylised bass clef on her wings. I love it when the designers include little details like that in their creations.

That's just how things arrrrr
Finally! This is what LEGO should have done from the start. I’m not sure if I’ll get any, but I do appreciate the fact that these are fun and overall good sets. Looks like LEGO finally understands the balance between apps and LEGO itself.
Now we just need a TV series, stacks of lore and maybe a video game or two and Vidiyo may end up being successful.
The punk pirate ship (43114) looks nice, although I'd prefer some different colour choices, e.g. olive and tan instead of cyan and coral.
The Pirate Ship seems like the perfect, crazy parade float which some unknown teenage sensation would be aboard lip syncing to a generic overproduced top 40 track.
For punk rockers as pirates, it sounds more interesting than fairy pirates. I see they've added the violin to the pirate ship. Ha! I did that already, too, to my Black Seas Barracuda. When the violin piece came out in the CMF Series 21 I added it to Redbeard's cabin.
The Boombox is cool. It's like a mix of Dots + Friends + The LEGO Movie 2.
Now these are actually sets! And damn... I do like them!
Especially the stages and the musicians' instruments, being a big musicfan... Gonna have to show this to the kids, ... and maybe ... :p
The Metal Dragon 43109 looks like the devil in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina!
I see a mermaid and a vampire I would like in the bandmates, and a couple of the sets look pretty nice too. SINTAX is right about the pirate ship, and makes me like it even more.
I don't know if I like how many parts and character themes are being reused here because it makes Vidiyo's apparent lower budget more clear and it was initially unclear if they were new designs for the same characters or new characters. The translucent parts are also odd and I think they'd all look better solid. Still, there are some figures I need to have (the slime guy, the vampire lady, alien drummer) and the hip-hop robot characters seem the most cohesive with the new members. I don't feel motivated to get the pirate ship, but the kraken character is cool.
EDIT: I love the "axe guitar" joke with the vampires, and I just realized the bears are translucent because they're meant to be gummies.
@Brainslugged:
Never. Not as a standard minifig, at least. Legs, arms, head, hair, and pirate hooks are fine. Torsos, hips, and regular minifig hands are forbidden due to how fragile the material would make them.
More fuel for the furry fandom! And scaley fandom, too.
Some of these figs/sets are really intriguing, but it seems so overpriced for much of it that I will be waiting for significant discounts if I purchase at all.
Yeah, I'm just waiting for the summer waves of Marvel and City to be revealed tbh.
I'm kicking myself for ordering some BeatBits on Bricklink last week. I wasn't expecting to buy any more Vidiyo sets, and thought it was as good a time as any to get some of the 'random' tiles.
If LEGO showed these sets off when Vidiyo was first released, people wouldn't have shat on it so much.
I think the sets are ok, but not really interesting. The sets don't have much interesting parts.
This theme has so much color and energy to it. I just wish the prices were a bit more reasonable - it's a really tough sell at the current price point.
Glad to see the violin come in more sets, I'll be looking for that to show up on Bricks and Pieces!
I might drop a couple of the boxes on Shop LEGO and get some of these instead (that Dragon dude.....).
I like the robot with a beatbox-shaped head. Very meta.
They should bring back Hidden Side and retire Vidio. At least Hidden Side had a cool app.
I'm just gonna say that I am in complete love with this line of sets! They are so much better than the winter 2021 line of sets, and I'm dying to get those bandmates series 2 sets.
*sees the dragon mini figures*
*eyes my piggy bank while slowly reaching for a hammer*
But in all seriousness, this is what I was hoping for from the start! The play sets are nice, and include multiple unique mini figures. It feels less like the theme is using the app as a crutch now.
So... why wasn't this the launch wave? Much more impressive than wave 1.
Happy to see a very colorful theme to get some actual LEGO builds!
The price tag seems too high.
Insta-buying all of these day one. Hopefully I can find an untouched bandmate box again...
I like some of these. I liked some of the stuff from the first series. But I can't justify the expense, especially on trying to "feel" a box...People have posted line-ups with how they are oriented in the box, but the new boxes I've felt through to grab those figures ended me with duplicates. So I can't gamble with $5. So these too will have to be a pass, unfortunately.
Maybe prices will go down and bricklink will be affordable for grabbing the exact figures I want. (although no stores seem to have the few, so I don't want to pay extra shipping from different stores.)
I don't know how this theme is selling. It looks like the Bandmates are going more than the BeatBoxes, which...yeah, of course. $20 is too much. I wouldn't be super surprised if Vidiyo ends after this wave or a third. I just can't see it as a long runner given LEGO's track record in app themes and this line already jumping into heavy parts reuse. However, I won't say it's wrong for failing as I don't agree with the app approach, prices and blind-boxing. I will be sad if we don't get a witch character, though.
In the end, though, I think the UMG contract will determine its longevity.
So for 10€ more you get a second exclusive minifigure, 300 extra parts to build an actual set that adds play value without a stupid app, minus the portable yogurt cup and meanwhile the Beat Boxes still costs 20€? Does any one else feel ripped off?
And is this color scheme based on expensive market research of Gen Alpha test subjects or just another cake day special? Compared to Vidiyo, Friends colors look actually pleasant and realistic.

I think the CMF line has really made Lego put minifigures as the focus over the last decade...for better or worse. Better...as in we get some neat minifigures and stories built into various sets. Worse...as in too much focus on minifigures and not buildable worlds. Sometimes it seems like they focus too much on the minifigures.

I'm very confused by your assumption that Vidiyo has a "lower budget"? Yes, it reuses new molds from the first half of the year—most themes do—but the Vidiyo theme has had a huge number of new molds (including both figure parts and the many parts of the "beatbox" containers), not to mention the huge number of printed tiles. So of all criticisms of the theme, being low-budget feels like one of the least applicable.
Anyway, for my part, I think these look very cool! Fun builds with no shortage of color. I like how complete the various stages look—I had sort of expected them to be mostly facades for scanning the figures but these go above and beyond that, with most of them including plenty of details not just on the front but also "backstage".
All I know is that I’m going to get both of those dragons, one way or another!
^
You're right about the new paraphernalia like the BeatBoxes and the tile prints. I think I was reacting to things like the conspicuous part reuses within the theme and lack of double faces in the Bandmates which make the minifigures feel like they're less than they could be compared to things like the CMFs. I realize now that it's just that there's no difference in standard between the set minifigures and the Bandmates--the Bandmates tend to feel like minifigures from sets, and that's an approach I can understand even though it initially clashed with my expectations for LEGO's mystery figures. I still find it disappointing that the Bandmates aren't quite as deluxe as CMFs, but now I understand why that is.
I'm in, but will wait for the Clearance prices. The current wave is still sitting on shelves wherever I look.
So basically the took the playset concept from Hidden Side and combined it with the shield concept from Nexo Knights.. and they did it well! This might be LEGO's most tech-immersed play theme yet!
I remember commenting when this theme was first announced that the first wave should have been buildable stages for the characters... and well, here they are finally.
Now if this had been wave 1, I'd have had more interest in this theme as these look like really good builds rather then the boring plastic tubs and blind boxes we had up until now. Heck, I'm actually kinda tempted by the boom box.
That said though, are these good enough to stop the theme from being a failure? Wave 1 is sill on massive clearance pretty much everywhere, and with an app thats proved unreliable at best, are they going to tempt in any new or repeat customers? As is... I think people just want them mostly for the figures rather then as an interactive experience.

LEGO lured me into AFOLdom in 1993 through its minifigures and my collection remains minifigure-centric. So the current focus suits me just fine. I appreciate that not everyone feels that way though and would have no objection if LEGO did more System sets without minifigures. I suspect, however, that putting minifigures front-and-centre is a winning formula with kids, so not a strategy LEGO is likely to abandon anytime soon.
I'm curious as to what LEGO's definition of "metal" is as I listen to Trivium
What are the names of the minifigures for 43108 and there respective themes?
That Boombox has some Pop-up Party Bus vibe.
Doesn't bode well for sales though.
@Snaz said:
"So you're telling me that the first wave was profitable enough that they made a second?"
The second wave would have been released regardless of the first wave's sales, since development and production for both waves likely happened around the same time. It's possible they held off on beginning work on a third wave until they knew how the first performed.
@30MG2012 said:

Their names are included in the press release linked at the beginning of this article. There don't seem to be any new music categories in this wave, so they all fit into one of the previous themes, like Monster Metal, Candy Pop, K-Pawp, etc.
So there's an error in the release date. The rpess release states that the Beat Boxes and the stages release on June 1st globally, except in the US where it's on August 1st. Then the Bandmates Series 2 releases on October 1st worldwide.
Now this is what I hoped VIDIYO was going to be, and I'm glad it's going this route.
Also, I need that violin.
looks like the Pirates Theme is really making a comeback
@Snaz said:
"So you're telling me that the first wave was profitable enough that they made a second?"
No. First, they don't develop one wave at a time. Wave two was in development before wave one even released. Second, Lego has a contract with Universal about this theme, which probably specified X number of waves.
Gretchen, stop trying to make VIDIYO happen, it’s not going to happen.
It looks like the HipHop car has chrome gold round plates and brick, but it's probably the way it's rendered.
It’s great to get a white acoustic guitar with the bandmates but it’s a missed opportunity to provide at least one of them in one of those funky colours they use so much in this theme.
I like both stages and the Pirate ship!
But Lego Hurry up and give us the Summer Marvel, Dc and Star wars sets now.
That’s the first time I’ve seen empty sprues presented as a piece in their own right, in the pirate ship.

LEGO is becoming so expensive that it’s only a matter of time before even empty sprues command a significant price on BrickLink! :~D
@Sandinista :
Everything seems to combine an existing genre of music with a type of character. Of the ten known Vidiyo music genres, K-Pawp and Discowboy were clearly paired up to work puns into the names. Some, like Pirate Punk, seem to be paired based on what feels like it fits best with the music genre (I mean, seriously, if Jack Sparrow was in a band what else do you think they'd play besides punk?), while others don't immediately jump out at me (Tropicon?).
@jrbookworm:
You know, one of the earliest heavy metal songs was called Helter Skelter, released by a little known band called The Beatles...
@Wrecknbuild :
I'm pretty sure the trans-yellow parts you refer to are trans-yellow, not chrome-gold. Gold parts can be seen on the hubcaps, which have a very different, flatter color.
Are those white 1x5 plates at the very front of the boom box stage?!
A while back I joked with my friend about combining the CMF Dragon Suit Guy and Atlantis Hammerhead Warrior to create a dragonborne. Guess this has got a better solution!
That Vampire rocker is literally Marceline, complete with axe base. The Dimensions Marceline had a brick-built base while this is a custom mold though. I may be getting me hopes up but full fledged Adventure Time sets? A man can dream.
That slime guy could be recycled for a minifig sized Clayface in the future. Not just the mold, but even most of the printing. I see you LEGO.
The colors on the pirate ship and boombox are a bit all over the place, but otherwise these are fantastic. On their own they're great sets, but they also add a ton of extra display value to the old figs. I have no idea why the boombox one in particular was held back till now, should've been a part of wave one, but who knows this may save the theme!
I know some people have complained about repeated molds but I don't mind it. One of my favorite things about LEGO is meeting new races and species of minifigure, and giving ever single one the same head gets old fast. I hope the dragons and gummy bears get even more recolors in the future, they're awesome!
@GSR_MataNui:
You mean the trans-red head with a giant mouthful of teeth? I’ve made three of those. Not as “dragonborne”, but for other reasons. One was just because I try to put that head on as many of the CMF mascots as I possibly can, and the other two are the baby dragons in the “Mama Dragon” vignette from Aquaman Vs 2: The Sea-Quel.

Discowboy was definitely motivated by a pun, but K-Pawp seems additionally engineered for appeal given the real-world genre's popularity and the K-Pawp characters' large total and use of animal themes. Tropicon (I've also seen it spelled Tropico which feels more right) is apparently tropical-themed techno music and seems more like the "summer party" vibe or the "let's not use dark teal and purple on everything" vibe, as its representatives use lighter colors and are party-coded and lightly dressed. In that respect, the tropical and techno themes both feel appropriate for that mood, even though specific archetypes don't seem to have much to do with who ends up in that genre. I also feel like they kind of limited themselves with the Monster Metal genre since the Slime Singer and Zombie Dancer don't quite seem to be invoking the metal genre but will end up there by default because of their theme.
I think these new characters are pretty easy to identify for genre, and even though I was confused by the Boombox Fairy Singer, she's probably just another Fantasy Folk and thus a bafflingly similar figure to the other one in this wave. The Leopard Gutarist is probably K-Pawp by default, even though the figure doesn't match super well visually. I'd guess the Karaoke Mermaid will be the second in the Samurap genre due to her Japanese theme and similar colors to the Samurapper.
I really like that pirate ship.
Find it odd they're releasing Series 2 of the Bandmates though when I've never seen Series 1.

Like the one at the back of this picture? https://brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/s18_cmf_fantasy_mocs.jpg
I swear wave one has just hit the shelves at the closest Walmart to me. Crazy that wave two is coming already..
@8BrickMario :
K-Pawp, for those who might not be aware, is a portmanteau of K-Pop (Korean pop music) and Paw (animal foot), but it appears to have started out as Kitsune Pop. The mashup came before the punny name. I wonder if they would have changed things up if the mashup had been different from the start, but judging by the K-Pop band I've recently seen in a TV commercial, overly-cute animals seems a logical pairing.
@Zander :
Yup. Well, except the ones in my vignette are sitting in a nest and are about to be served a nice, fresh, juicy Aquaman. Ironically, that was supposed to be just giant birds, but a one-year delay in the construction of that MOC gave that CMF just enough time to make it to market, and I couldn’t resist making the change.
An alteration to have hydraulics on that Hip Hop Car is in order.
@8BrickMario:
When we first saw the Wave 1 sets, and found out that bands were limited to three characters, I started trying to match them up. The Candy Pop band was the easiest (for a good reason), and a few others weren’t too hard to piece together, but things fell apart by the time I got to the cowboy. Turns out there were more than six bands represented, and the cowboy was the lone Discowboy band member, while Candy Pop was the only band with three members in the first wave. I also thought four band members fit Pirate Punk when there were only six bands known (pirate, shark, werewolf, and banshee, with the last to being thrown in mostly because the shark was the closest similar minifig, and they didn’t fit any of the other genres even a tiny little bit). One thing I found useful was paying attention to their equipment, as it seemed like no band would have two members filling the same role. So, if you identified a drummer, you could just skip over anyone else with drumsticks.
Then @CapnRex101 posted a full list of the music genres, and which band members went with each, and everything made a lot more sense. Now, with Wave 2, I think we’re going to find that there’s no strict limit of three band members for each genre, so you could potentially have at least half a dozen genre-appropriate characters from which to pick your specific trio. Or you can always cross genres when compiling a band, I’d guess, since nobody has complained about being restricted to Candy Pop because that’s the only genre that currently has three band members.

It would appear so! Everyone is talking about the excessively colourful and somewhat weird minifigs and LEGO has snuck this reveal right under our noses without much fanfare at all...

Pun intended ;~)

Yes, indeed they are!
That green blob guy’s headpiece would be perfect for a DC Clayface minifigure. I mean, it’s been almost 13 years since they had Clayface in LEGO Batman The Videogame, and he was a minifigure in DC Supervillains. Besides that, I might pick up a few sets, but I’m not that into this theme.
