Give us a chance! It's takes a lot of faffing about to do so and it's probably wasted time for themes of little interest because they'll most likely be up on LEGO.com tomorrow at which point we can gather the images more easily.

These are so cool.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Some lovely design work here.

Gravatar
By in France,

Some of them look very toyish, and that is exactly what they are, but in the end that Hydro Bounty thing is something surprising, unexpected, and beautiful.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

Ninjago and Atlantis had a child...
But seriously, these are awesome!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Those Ninjago designers just keep giving. Those sets are like eye candy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those Dragons look really good, especially the Fire Dragon, and I'm not even a Ninjago fan.
The Hydro Bounty has a real Jules Verne vibe about it.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

That Kai dragon must be one of the worst designed Ninjago sets.
However Sea dragon looks magnificent and regall.
Shame we havent got underwater King minifigure.
As ususal the most interesting character is ommited...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The dragons are fantastic! I’m completely in awe of the color combinations in Hydro Bounty and the Temple. They look very fresh. These sets really create a beautiful visual new underwater world.

Atlantis is back babe!

By in Netherlands,

OH MY FRICKIN' GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME I'm so sorry for using so many caps. But these underwater sets are just eye candy. Okay, the two small ones are pretty mediocre, but that dragoooon.... It's so unbelievable pretty! I love everything water-related, it's my favorite element and I love swimming and the ocean and submarines and sealife etc etc. Of course I have some bias to an elemental water dragon because of that, but even ignoring that I still think it's one of, if not the best dragon LEGO has ever produced. Then I looked at the temple of the endless sea, or as I'm calling it from now on, City of Atlantis 2.0. It's so much bigger than I'd imagined from those leaked pics and unlike the diving figures and vehicles this fits perfectly with the Atlantis sets! And then I saw the hydrobounty... I can't find words for how stunning this is. It's just the perfect large submarine, lots of windows, sleek and white, yet it also has some really daring elements like the odd shaping and golden bits sticking out but somehow it just works so dang well! These three are some of the sexiest models LEGO has ever produced. I'll gladly sacrifice my plans of finally building a small city of my own to acquire these gems. I'm kinda worried about the other rumors for Marvel and Star Wars though, my budget is far from infinite...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ninjago going Alpha Team... can only assume Ogel is behind this

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Love the mini sub build scattered all throughout the underwater sets.
I'd like a fleet of those.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Ninjago meets Atlantis meets Elves? :-D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The ninjago designers consistently hit it out the park compared with the licensed theme designers...

I guess they have the distinct advantage of being able to let creativity run wild and design something cool, while Star Wars or Marvel designers have to stick to an existing design, so when it isn't accurate enough it lets fans down, and it means we're rarely amazed at what they come up with

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Hydro Bounty reminds me a lot of the ship from Atlantis: The Lost Empire (GREAT movie by the way, highly recommend), but with its own Ninjago twist. I want it.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Not bad. They’ve done quite a few good ones, but I don’t know if I’ll pick any up.

Aquanauts coping and seething at the moment

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I was doing so well, thinking maybe I could save some money, and then the temple, water dragon and hydro bounty stole my wallet!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Just had another look, and absolutely love how the graphics on Lloyd’s mech match the stepped armour plates.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Ultra Sonic Raider is beautiful

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's almost as if Ninjago had become the catch-all for creating any unique sub-theme that isn't City. We've had pirates, ghosts, neon tinged video games, and now a return to Aquazone.

I wish that Lego would just do more original themes, but it makes sense for them, financially, to simply bank on an established IP.

Me: Ok, this year I'm gonna spend less on Lego sets.

Yeah, I am torn between the water Dragon and that undersea village.

Gravatar

So... SCUBA-ninjas.

Right.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Hydro Bounty reminds me of the Sword of the Ocean from the LXG movie. One of the few good things about that movie...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like it’s time to bring my Aqua Raiders out of retirement!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the Water Dragon, definitely planning on picking it up. Will probably get the Lloyd mech and maybe the Temple too, but it depends on what else I want this year. The other sets all look good too, though I feel like the head on Kai's dragon is too small.

Gravatar

Awesome! Long overdue for a Nya-focused subtheme. (Heh, sub theme)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Never been one for Ninjago (the sets I own are all from mixed boxes) but my goodness the Hydro Bounty and that temple are works of art!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Ninjago is Legos best theme ever. This is how Legos own stuff should always look like design- and creativity-wise. The Hydro Bounty is just gorgeous. Such a cool Jules-Verne-Vibe.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It may be aimed at children (and have a TV show - I have never seen) but Ninjago's knack for deftly re-inventing itself with really clever (and more reasonably priced) sets always seems to have some which will also keep AFOLs interested - this wave with hints of Jules Verne and Steampunk offers up the Ninjago Nautilus in the Hydro Bounty - which looks fantastic and now on my ever growing Lego list...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice use of the big cargo bay doors from 10283 as the glass ceiling on the Bounty. I think they might be the side walls too, but it's hard to tell from this angle.

Lego has certainly realized this. Think about all the original themes that were made in the past ten years but got overshadowed by Ninjago. Chima, Nexo Knights, Ultra Agents, Hidden Side, etc. Now Lego designers can basically do whatever projects they want because they know people will buy them if the Ninjago label is on them. I'm actually all for this because we get previously explored themes with a Ninjago twist.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Amazing! These sets are really nice. That Sea Dragon is especially magnificent and I'm very excited for another Ultra Sonic Raider. Thanks for the news!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I usually don't follow Ninjago, but some of these are top notch. I may have to look into acquiring some of them. New headpieces are neat. The colors work well. The dragons look solid.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw, spotted another new road plate (the rare short one!) in
[71749-1: Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty]
71749

And there are colored road plates in the new wildlife set!
Could you add a new brickset tag that tracks sets with these new road plates (8x8, 8x16, 16x16)? That would help a lot!

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Are those transparent 10283 Space Shuttle bay doors in the 71756 Hydro Bounty?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the Hydro Bounty!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really don’t like the snake headed guys having feet, like a reverse mermaid.

Gravatar
By in United States,

these are beautiful sets. the only 2021 Ninjago sets I really wanted to get were the 10th-anniversary sets but with these water sets, I just can't resist.

especially the Hydro Bounty and the water dragon.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

the city and bounty are an instant buy.
Not sure about the waterdragon...want it for the parts; but it looks off for some reason

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm SO glad I opted out of the previous Ninjago wave knowing this one was coming along. It looks like the wait will have been worth it!

Finally a water dragon, and a whopper at that, and looking great, and get a load of the printing on that head!

The colour scheme on the endless sea set is lovely, and it has a kraken :D

That bounty sub is covered in so many cool gold trimmings, and lots of bits that will be new to me, plus the overall design is awesome.

Mini subs!!!

Plus I think there will be lots of scope to mix these into stories with my son to include our other undersea sets.

NYA YOUR TIME HAS COME.

This is one wave I might have to resist watching the JANG reviews of so I can appreciate it all for the first time in real life. I'm properly excited!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think 71754 has a flapping wing function, and it seems to be looooooooong!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Everywhere is the form of the cockpit of a set of 71736!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The head molds on the wyrm in the temple set remind me of Liopleurodon. I suspect we'll get one in the Jurassic world sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Normally I'd be really excited seeing these sets and seeing how cool Ninjago continues to become, but seeing this wave hits different for a couple things:

1. Knowing it's the last wave that Kirby Morrow voices Cole.
2. Having seen Seabound. I won't spoil it for anyone.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are awesome. I'm a big fan of underwater LEGO themes and Ninjago, so this is right up my alley.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Snakes with swim fins. Awesome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not a Ninjago guy, but im intrigued by those dual molded cockpit pieces.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does anyone else find it odd that they'd make a submarine and give it a glass roof so when you're underwater you can look up? At the sky? No? Just me? 'Kay.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just built the boulder blaster a couple weeks ago and was thinking that the windscreen piece would go great on a submarine. I was right they look awesome.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I wonder if the fact that each ninja gets their own personal mini-sub, means that they'll all be able to dock inside the main bay of the Hydro Bounty? There probably isn't enough room for them all, but it's interesting to have them split up between different sets like they almost always do with some type of collectible weapon.

I was wondering something similar, but my first instinct was to hope for some kind of 'form-up' function, maybe like the Nova Corps Star Blasters from the Marvel MCU, but your idea makes a lot mores sense :)

My only minor worry is that there only seems to be four mini subs in the range, and that might activate my IPOC (Irrational Pursuit of Completeness)...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This first photo of Fire Dragon 71753 makes it tricky to really 'get' the shape of the dragon, but I think it might be a similar form to 70908 Batman's Scuttler.

I don't think I can justify buying another red Ninjago dragon, but I totally understand the whole "red=cool, fire=cool, Kai=cool"-metric at work in most Ninjago waves. I wonder if sales of Kai-based sets really are significantly better than those of the other ninja.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ComfySofa IPOC must be pretty frustrating, especially when Ninjago creates variants of some of the Ninja in a particular style but not all of them. I mean, here Nya is getting an NRG variant when most of the others got theirs...nine years ago. I would be interested to hear about that Kai set sales thing too; I personally don’t feel the character warrants all the attention he gets, just because he’s the red guy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Are they FINALLY giving Nya the focus and her own Dragon? I sure hope so!

Funnily enough I've been on and off thinking of a water themed Ninjago line and I guess the official designers are on the same wave(heh)length! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ComfySofa:
I noticed that, too. I see red (Kai) in 71755, white (Zane) in 71754, and both black (Cole) and jade (La-Loyd) in 71756. Nothing for Jay or Nya, though arguably Nya shouldn't need one.

@SearchlightRG:
I see a funky watery looking character in 71754 and 71755 who looks absolutely nothing like the four NRG variants. Is that what you're referring to? If so, I don't even see the point, since the existing four NRG outfits all share a similar design aesthetic. This looks like they came up with a completely original design and slapped the NRG name on it because it's one that they hadn't used for Nya previously. Then, for the core four, who already got NRG minifigs, that kind of shuts them out of getting minifigs in the same style, because they already have their NRG forms.

But this is just one of the problems you end up with when you start out with evenly-matched characters, add one to the mix a few years later, and then another one some time after that. Where the first group has already advanced through several "levels", you're left with the choice of having new characters auto-advance to the same level (thus skipping all the previous forms), or having to work through all those previous forms at an accelerated rate so you don't skip any steps.

The former isn't realistic, as the other characters couldn't get where they are today without learning all the associated lessons and techniques (even though, like the Karate Kid, those "all-powerful" techniques immediately get rendered powerless in the very next chapter). The latter isn't very exciting, as you either condense years' worth of lessons into a Cliffnotes format that renders them meaningless, or you take years to catch up and basically sit on the sidelines until you do.

Oh it's maddening sometimes, and yes, especially in the often hap-hazard world of Ninjago sets :) I find myself not buying any if I can't have all... weirdly it affects mostly the buying part, not so much the building and playing aspects.

He wouldn't do so well in a Ninjago/StarTrek crossover...

Hmm, the mini subs look identical except for two coloured pieces per side, a couple of stickers, and the two weapon heads. I'm hoping to be able to moc Jay's and even Nya's relatively easily to get a full fleet to escort the new Bounty. That should satisfy the completionist in me :)

I've got plans for a modified Ultra Stealth Raider 70595 in which everybody on the team gets their own sub-vehicle to pilot :D

@ComfySofa:
So how does that work with these guys:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&q=deepstone+%2Dlightning+%2Dshoulder&catLike=W&catString=759.949&sortBy=N&sortAsc=A&catType=M&v=1

Looking them over, all five of the guys have weapons tucked into their belts. Nya doesn't. All five of the guys have black outfits. Nya's is dark-red. All five of the guys have black shoulder armor. Nya has gold. Four of the guys have belts, straps, and mask in their primary color. Cole has dark-bley because black wouldn't stand out against a black outfit. Nya has dark azure. All five of the guys have octagonal logos on their chests with a kanji character in the center, four of which match the color of their belt. Cole has the same thing in orange. Nya has a circular logo featuring a wave. Cole is kinda the odd one out from the five guys because his elemental color isn't what they used for his accent color, and his chest logo is bordered by a completely unrelated color, but Nya...she's literally wearing her original Ninja outfit with gold shoulder armor. No, seriously, the prints are the same, and Bricklink even catalogs the torso and legs as being the same prints.

Or look at the DX minifigs. The core four came out at the same time and had (mostly) matching designs. Cole was once again the odd one out as his dragon was the only one with a different shape for its head. But then they did the Target cubes and released a DX La-Loyd. The head was a different shape, the accent colors on the head didn't match the look of the other four, it's the only DX outfit that shows two forelegs, and it has a different style of mask.

As for the mini-subs, in the Bounty set, Kai and Zane in scuba gear have the weapons from their mini-subs clipped to their guns, and Cole has something similar to his in the Sub Speeder set. That makes it easy to figure out the weapons for the Jay/Nya mini-subs, because they are also in scuba gear with gold weapons clipped to their guns (the sai is fine by itself, but the spike probably needs a handle like Cole's drillbit). Where you're likely to have a problem is those triple-curved slopes that form the sides of the hulls appear to be printed, and I don't see anything similar for Jay/Nya in any of the sets.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Am I the only one seeing some sort of "computer-Wu" inside the front cupola of the Hydro Bounty ?

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of the best Ninjago waves in a while, in my opinion, which is saying a lot given how great they all are!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave that is indeed who I am referring to. That variant of Nya is officially referred to by the descriptions on the site that released these images as "NRG Nya". To my mind she's probably closer in feel/spirit to last year's Spinjitzu Burst figures, which only half the Ninja received and she was not one of the lucky few. However, the time to introduce a true NRG Nya would probably have been six years ago when she was first made a member of the team. Still, maybe we'll get lucky if Lego does a set featuring the Preeminent next year...

@ComfySofa indeed. Fortunately such a crossover seems highly unlikely, both due to the differing tones of the two franchises and the fact that last I heard Star Trek was pretty chummy with Mega-Bloks. Then again, it may only be a matter of time before Ninjago gets a space wave...

@yellost the Hydro Bounty's minifigures include two "Wu-Bots", presumably automated crew for the Hydro Bounty given that the majority of the Ninja probably don't have the first clue about how to drive a submarine. Images of the back of the box also indicate that a section of the Bounty can turn into a small mech, which I would expect one of them will pilot.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@SearchlightRG:
The six Ninja are also too busy scuba diving and tooling around in those mini-subs to be bothered with trying to maneuver the giant sub around underwater obstacles. Unless that's why Jay and Nya don't have mini-subs...
