Release date confirmed for final LEGO VIP coin
Posted by CapnRex101,LEGO has today announced that the final VIP collectable coin, inspired by the golden Pirates accessory, will be available on the 20th of May.
Previous coins have proven remarkably popular and I anticipate this coin maintaining that trend. Fortunately, it has also been confirmed that these coins will be returning later in the year, providing another opportunity to acquire those which you might have missed.
Have you collected the previous coins? Let us know in the comments.

Anyone want to play a Lego VIP bingo for this release?
- Item sells out in 30 min
- Website crashes
- Following problems Lego make no statement or apology regarding issues
- Scalpers sell them on eBAY for a small fortune
- Lego promise to improve in the future
- Website glitches
Anyone have anymore to add?
Not interested in the VIP coins - haven't collected any (although I may be tempted by this last one as it looks like the old Pirates coins).
However, I am curious to hear comments/reactions to the news of the rereleases later this year. I think it is good news, but understandable to be upset if you've paid a significant sum on ebay for "sold out" coins.

That is just a list of facts.
LEGO can take their artificial scarcity and shove it right up their coin holder.
All the complaining about scalpers... what scalpers? It's one coin per VIP Account. In order to accumulate enough VIP points sufficiently across multiple accounts would take quite a bit of spending indeed. And if that was the case, then kudos.
Got the email earlier and scrolled down to see the news.
I think this is fantastic news and kind of suggests an acknowledgement from Lego that they messed up even if they haven't said outright. I wondered whether they might make a point of getting more produced due to the horrendous mess that it has been so far. Safe to say that it has probably achieved the exact opposite of what Lego planned or hoped to date.
Anyway, I for one now feel slightly more at ease. I have the holder and 4 coins that have so far been released. I was in a panic about the last.............but not no more!!
Never wanted to make money, just wanted the items because I thought they were quite nice and a bit different.
Just feel a bit for any that, quite understandably without news of a re-release, were drawn to a scalper.
Happy Monday everyone!
Honestly, a bit miffed about the re-release. I’d have preferred they learned from this and moved on, but in the end, I’m glad those interested will have another shot. Ideally they’d have made a different set
The coin has no number on the other side, just "Lego Vip"
Literally worthless money.
More life-size items would have been fun. I guess it's better this way though with the ridiculously low production number for these.
I never understood the appeal of collectible coins, but to each their own. Glad to see lego acknowledging the problems regardless
The big question is whether the cases for the new ones will be as crappy quality as the others. The only thing I'll be gutted about is if the v2 ones have decent display cases where the different plastic slabs actually align with one another.
I got the Classic Space coin, as i am a big fan of that theme. The whole process went quite smoothly for me, and there none of the quality control issues with my coin that cropped up with the coins that were released earlier.
"it has also been confirmed that these coins will be returning later in the year" - The $125+ per coin ebay sellers let out a collective groan.
I'm keeping mine, they're pretty cool.
Can someone say Ninjago / Star Wars / Harry Potter / Friends for the next 4 coins?
So am I correct - this last coin will be available the day AFTER the FRIENDS release? So you can't even get both at the same time because you know Friends will not be there on the 20th.
Definitely a very good move by Lego, but still the whiners will keep on whining! Such is the internet.

I'm happy now because I waited with buying them from eBay or elsewhere.

All of the above, man I don't want them but they sure would look great in a display case had they been made better.
Weird, I’ve collected all the coins up to date, but haven’t got an email about the last one...... eek coin FOMO alert!!!!
Can anyone share if the email had any times on it?

Likely Ninjago because they actually did give out Ninjago coins in at least one specific country, 7 of them in total (6 ninjas and Wu) so they do already exist. Plus they still have their Legacy line going.
Now LEGO should produce Lego Bitcoin, which price should be 40-50k $ :)))
@James_Arkham:
How did you miss this part? Castle launched in January and nobody even noticed for a few days. I was able to book my code on the 17th. Pirates launched in February, and most of the comments were about how they were trying to “steal” our VIP points. Octan launched in March, and Europe sold out in hours. I forgot to grab my code at midnight, but had plenty of time to do so later in the day in the US. Space launched hours early and was sold out shortly after midnight in the US, and many people got shut out based solely on where they lived in the UK/EU (as in they were gone before they even showed up in the Rewards Center for some nations).
What happened is the people who claimed these were a giant ripoff learned that you could buy them for $10 worth of points and sell them for at least $20, and suddenly people were scrambling to grab them just so they could resell them immediately. That’s called scalping.

Your math doesn't make any sense. It's closer to $18 worth of points, but that's not the important number either, the important number is $180 because that's what you have to spend more or less to get 1150 points. And considering that three of the four coins never touched that number on the resale market, in reality the only people that it was worth it for were those who had the points or were going to get the points anyways. But it's still not scalping for those three coins. Scalping involves buying up a product and then reselling it for profit. You straight up could not do that. There was zero profit to be made, just getting some of the money back from the money you spent. Yes, obviously you got the sets as well so in general it was a pretty good deal, but you're still spending more money than you make back at the end of the day, and that by definition is not scalping.
The fourth coin meanwhile was the one that was scalped. Because that reached prices of $300 or more and therefore generated actual profit. You could buy $180 worth of product, get the coin and make profit. But that's the only one. You can't scalp something that you aren't making profit on. Period.
FWIW, I am not very keen to collect all of these coins. The cost in points to purchase every one, plus the extra holder, would pay for a good-sized set. Furthermore, one would need to purchase at least a few extra sets in order to claim the coins, since the VIP claim codes do expire after period of time. However, since I happened to want to make a purchase at the same time that the Classic Space coin became available, I decided to splurge and get that one. As reported by others, this was not an easy feat to accomplish, and I consider myself fortunate to have been able to add one of these coins to my order.
Upon receipt, I was very surprised at the size of the coin. Despite having read reviews, the coin was much larger than I anticipated, and significantly more bulky than any circulated coin I know of. I was also quite surprised at the poor quality. The packaging was a simple piece of thin tissue paper with only a single sticker to keep it from unwrapping. There was a significant amount of torn cardboard-like fluff between the two glass plates that looked filthy. The printing on the reverse looked good, but the metallic surfaces of both the obverse and the reverse show signs of defects during the electroplating process. The obverse is particularly bad with a defect about 1/2 the size of my thumbprint. There are also nicks and dings in the surface of the obverse and around the edge of the reverse.
I decided to open up the case to clean out the cardboard fluff, since it was not worth displaying as I received it. The mounting hardware has a Phillips screw on the back, but nothing on the front with which to secure the other side. I was able to apply enough pressure to open the hardware, despite this. Once open, cleaning out the fluff proved difficult to do. Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. The mounting screw threads are very sloppy and do not go back together well. When disassembling the case, I was careful to keep the matching pairs together, but unfortunately, the same matching pairs do not go back together easily. As it stands right now, I was only able to secure two out of the four pairs tightly - the other two are in place, but not entirely secure.
I'm mildly interested in numismatics. So when I first heard the rumour about these coins I was initially keen to obtain them for myself. It's my opinion that anyone with an eye for coin collecting will likely be quite disappointed with the product. I do know where these coins are produced, but they do not appear to come from a proper minting facility.
Completely missed everything about these coins and now I need to know why you´'re buying them?
Seems insane?

I'm sure that if they release a digital "studcoin", there will be plenty of people willing to place their bets.
I'm happy for getting another chance at obtaining the Space coin, the only one I was interested in but had no chance of getting because of TLG's terrible website performance.
How about the space probe returning too? lol
I have every single one except for the last one.
I have them all so far. Quality of the first 2 was poor (complained and got my points refunded) but the last 2 have been better. Setting my alarms right now for the last :)
If they could improve the quality and availability of the collectible coins and cases, they could be a decent promo. I'm surprised they're going to try again with the same designs. I'd rather see more variety of logos from the subthemes, especially from Space and Castle.
That said, rather than collectible metal coins I would prefer something which is also useful in MOCs, like large tiles or other buildable Lego parts with full color prints of classic theme logos.
Always thought they were asking too many points for these especially with the quality issues people have reported. I am interested in a few but don't know if I will bother when they become available again.
For those who purchased from ebay , buyer beware. If you are OK with overpaying for something just to have it please don't bother complaining after the fact when the perceived value based on what you over-payed tanks.
@CapnRex101: "inspired by the classic Pirates accessory" ... you may want to clarify that this refers to the gold-colored coin in the center, and not the one with the Pirates logo on the left.
I managed to snag the space coin, but their quality is pretty poor and the casing was really dirty/smeared. All in all quite dissapointing and certainly not worth the prices on eBay.
I didn't buy them the first round. I won't buy them the second round. But hopefully others will get one without paying ridiculous amounts on the aftermarket.
Unless, just the same people buy them again so they can try to sell them again... Does it say limit 1 per VIP account?
I didn't have interest, so I never looked into the limits. And I love coins overall, but didn't want to buy these. Weird.

3000 of each coin for Europe. But why bother with facts when you can moan.
Considering how long some of the other "tat" available as VIP Rewards was available, I'm not even sure 3000 was a poor estimate on TLG's part for the production run. The first coin certainly lasted a while, before FOMO/people wanting to make a quick buck started to strike for the others.

i have another one to add,
-the listing isint there at the time it was supposed to , and is added at a random time when no one is online, and bots/scalpers get them
@papasmurf1964:
Space has the same funky pinkish-yellow as the Castle crown.
@fulcrumbop:
Ninjago and minidoll Friends, maybe. SW and HP coins probably fall under a license held by another company.
@TheBrickGuru24:
650 gets you $5 USD.
700 got you the case.
1150 got you one coin.
1300 gets you $10 USD.
1800 got you the Ulysses.
1950 gets you $15.
So, you’re right. It’s not $10 in points. It’s exactly $9 USD worth of points, which is half of what you were claiming. And it doesn’t matter if people were making more money off the points than it cost to acquire them. It mattered that they were scooping up these coins and reselling them for more than the points were worth in cash. Even being limited to one per person (at least one person cheated this by using family members’ accounts to grab three to resell), this had a devastating effect on coin stock when people were already in a panic over the Octan coin, many more people wanted just the Space coin vs any of the previous three, and (in the US at least) an early launch meant that people who expected it to be available for a few hours to a few days showed up early on the 1st and still found it was sold out, with scalpers listing them for hundreds of dollars per coin. And what was supposed to be a fun little souvenir for VIP members to collect became an unaffordable nightmare for people who had already picked up the 5-coin case and perhaps coins they were less interested in just so they could have a complete set.
I believe this is all brilliant story telling by lego marketing. At first introduce the coins in scarce quantities, let the hype and fomo do their work, and then release the rest of the product later in the year, so that everyone spends their hard earned vip points for an otherwise worthless gimmick.
Ooh. It’s my birthday on 20th... this could be a nice little present if, IF, I am lucky enough to get one!!
Cool, I look forward to the opportunity to purchase the full set now using all the VIP points I've accrued over the past year missing out on the VIP exclusives I wanted most. -__-

Why would anyone be upset about it ? If someone paid X amount on eBay they must've thought it is worth it for them for that price.
At this point, you could probably make a bingo for VIP releases.
Not after the debacle of the last release......thanks but no thanks
@TheBrickGuru24
The coins cost 1150 VIP points each, which in the U.S. is worth about $8.85.

If you spend $x and then later find the same thing for significantly less, wouldn't you be upset? Doesn't matter what you perceive the value to be. What matters is how much you got it compared to other people.
If I thought it was worth $100, but found it for $10, you'd be ecstatic. If you had FOMO and "had" to have it for your collection and only wanted to spend $10, but had to spend $100, and later it was available for $10 again, wouldn't you be upset?
@OneIsLit:
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a US silver dollar coin, but the size looks similar to a US Kennedy half-dollar (which is rarely seen in circulation unless you specifically ask for them at a bank).
@Lamarider:
You’re saying this on a site frequented by adults who obsess over news about toys. It shouldn’t surprise you at all.
Basically, in January, someone noticed that two items had shown up in the VIP Rewards Center. One was a metal coin with a crown on the obverse, representing Castle. The other was an empty 5-coin holder that showed the Castle coin, plus coins for Pirates, Town (Octan), and Space, with a fifth coin bearing the LEGO logo that kinda looked like the old chrome-gold coins from various minifig themes. Collecting the full set (5 coins plus the large case) would cost you points equivalent to $50 USD off a purchase, so people were pretty divided over whether it was a waste of points (or that it was an attempt to steal our points), or if it was a cool collectible that many of us had started saving our points to buy.
This is something that came with the switch from VIP Red to VIP Blue about two years ago. Instead of just offering a 5% discount (which they still do), they’ve tried to offer alternate rewards, which have included a solid metal keychain of Han Solo in carbonite, a solid metal keychain of a 2x4 plate (both much larger than 1:1 scale), and a bunch of prints based on various high-end sets. Old VIP GWPs also come up for those who may have missed out during the original promo. And there was a second satellite that’s designed to fit in the payload bay of the new Space Shuttle Discovery set. And there have been website crashes, last-minute delays, and scalpers hammering the available stock before the people who actually want to own these things can claim them. So, it started out nice, when the worst we had to deal with was defending our choice of burning points on “worthless” trinkets to people who were clearly angry that we would spend our points on these over rebates.
@dbbunny:
Do we know a time yet? The only e-mail I got just notes the date. They may plan to make a more specific announcement the day before.
@BrickTeller:
Hey, if the prices tank low enough, I’d love to get more of these, and have ideas for possible ways to build MOCs based around all of them. I just can’t afford extras at current prices, and wouldn’t risk theft of, or damage to, my only set.
@Sethro3:
So far, all five released items have been one per VIP account. We don’t know yet if the promised rerelease will be treated as a reactivation of the first run (old limits carry over), or if they’ll be treated as new items (old limits are expunged in favor of new limits). As much as I’d like to get more, I hope they do the right thing and carry over the old limits so scalpers don’t get a second shot at them. Or just commit to keeping these in stock long-term and let people grab as many as they want.
@Nytmare:
And clearly by “exactly $9”, I meant “I didn’t get enough sleep last night.”
Love my Space coin! Could have easily snagged the others, but wasn't interested in them. I'm still enjoying my Ford Mustang key chain more though... which ironically is about the size of a coin but spins :)
Heck, I didn't even know which coin was yet to be released until I read this thread (I'm the odd duck that worked endless overtime during covid), though I now wonder (after the whole vote for the anniversary set episode of "How the VIP Turns) if Lego will add a Bionicle coin next year?

- Item itself is underwhelming
- People get angry at Lego
- Some crazy entitled person says that Lego should make one for every V.I.P.

Look dude, I've been around the block. I know you like to argue. I've even been on your side for the most part. But you are not correct here.
The resale market doesn't care about what LEGO points are worth within the site. They absolutely do not matter to it. You cannot scalp something where you are not making profit back. It's that simple. You want to talk about people selling them for much more expensive prices than the cash amount you are giving up in terms of money vouchers on LEGO.com to get them, sure, that's technically correct. But it's also not relevant. You spend $180 on LEGO and sell the coin for $100, you aren't scalping. Scalping by definition means "resell at a large or quick profit." That's not profit in any shape or form. You're just being smart about how you spend your points.
Now, taking advantage of the opportunity to sell those coins to other people who didn't get them first-hand? Sure, you can definitely say that. Like I said, it's smart. But it's still not scalping without a profit. In fact, some of those secondhand buyers get a bit of a deal of their own in a way on the coins, in that if they just want the coin and don't want any sets (and I have met a few of these people), they can pay half as much or less on the resale market than it would cost for them to accumulate enough points on the site, plus it saves the hassle of selling the set(s) they bought that they don't want. Buying something that you don't want just to get something that you do isn't desirable to many people. So not only can you not scalp something if you're not making a profit, you aren't even screwing some people over. You're helping them.
And again, I'm not referring to the Space coin here. That one people were definitely scalping and making a profit off of. No question there.
All that said, you are right about the $9, i have no clue how I got $18. I think I misremembered 650 points being worth $10, not $5. Seems like my bad math would work if that were the case.

Slight side note, I suppose if you sell everything you bought plus the coin, that could be considered scalping. It just has to include a profit by definition. I actually do understand what you're getting at, but you're forgetting that part. That's all I'm saying.

Isn’t the final coin meant to be the Gold one?????
We got the pirate on a few months back??

It’s the gold coin, that represents an oversized gold treasure coin from back in the day....
Already got the Castle and Space coins, and I will also get this Gold one as planned (did not care much for the other two coins)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Gotcha! Thanks :)
So you just go to the VIP page on 5/20 and "hope" the offer is available and you click redeem?
I've never done coins before. I won't be too miffed if I miss out on this one also. But realizing it resembles the classic gold coin of my LEGO youth, I may have to look into this one. The rest I didn't care about.
@TheBrickGuru24:
Now you got it! You spend $180 to get $180 worth of LEGO sets (possibly more, depending on sales and GWPs). They balance each other out. If anyone was trying to run multiple VIP accounts to pick up extra coins, you can’t immediately tell if the sets used to earn those points were resold as is, parted out into a Bricklink store, or absorbed into a collection, but they’re still receiving those sets.
Anyways, nobody was really concerned with the first two coins fetching $20 a pop, and you’re right that some people may have preferred to just buy them at that price. In the US, Octan lasted at least long enough for me to grab a code in late afternoon, but it was sold out in Europe when a lot of people got up that morning. Everyone was in the same boat for Space.
As one of the early collectors, I’ve been staring at the uncomfortable fact that some of us (myself included) may have contributed to the surge in speculative demand. When the Castle coin was reviewed, there were a few people who seemed angry at those of us who had decided to collect them because they felt it was a scam to “steal points” from VIP members, and were trying to convince us to stop collecting them because they were “worthless”.
The easy counter-argument was that you could take about as many points as it would cost to earn a $10 rebate and turn them into $20 cash. It didn’t really kill the debate, but it probably got a lot more people looking at coins as a way to boost their effective VIP discount. When people started bandwagoning, demand swamped supply, prices skyrocketed, and even more people tried to scoop them up. And yet somehow we still get comments about how these are “worthless garbage”.
@Sethro3:
We don’t know what time of day the last coin will get posted. The Castle one snuck through without anyone noticing right away because we hadn’t heard of this offer before. Pirates and Octan did launch around midnight, I believe. Space launched hours early the day before it was due. And this coin has been delayed from the 1st to the 20th. When the Ulysses got delayed, they changed the launch from midnight to 9am in the US Eastern time zone, so that’s still possibly what will happen for 5.
When it does go live, if you have the required 1150 points, you enter the VIP Rewards Center, and scroll down past the two rows of rebate vouchers and the “Earn Points” section. In the next block, there are several coloring pages and art prints. The coin should show up in the upper left corner position when it’s added. Click on the coin (if it doesn’t say “Sold Out”, then click the “Redeem” button, and you should receive a code both in a pop-up confirmation window, and in an e-mail from the VIP service. Once you have a code, you have 60 days to redeem it. To do so, you’ll need to place an order online or over the phone, and add the code in a field on the right side of the screen. If you do it right, the coin should show up in your shopping cart. You are limited to _ONE_ physical reward code per order, and one of any specific physical reward per VIP account. If you cashed in rebate vouchers, you can still spend as many of those on the same order as you want.
I've managed to get all of these (from constantly checking the VIP rewards page) and I haven't had any of the quality issues that the early reviewers had.
Perspex cases all clean with no scratches, and no dust (or anything else in them)
VIP logos all good quality printed
Enamelling on all coins looking good
I don't know if mine are the exception or the norm - as lots seem to moan about the quality, but also lots seem to be happy with them.
But really pleased that those who missed out on them, get another chance to get them, as I think they look great on display.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a US silver dollar coin, but the size looks similar to a US Kennedy half-dollar (which is rarely seen in circulation unless you specifically ask for them at a bank).
"
According to Wikipedia, the Kennedy half dollar is 30.6 mm (1.2"), but this coin is approximately 45 mm (1.8"). That's a 50% larger indiameter.
@Minifig_Jez:
All five of my logos look clean, some of the plexi has micro-scratches in the surface (especially Octan, which I think had partially unwrapped itself), the paint looks pretty clean (aside from the “pink-lemonade” crown and planet on Castle and Space respectively), and only the Pirates metal looks a little rough around the edges. None of them have pristine plating, though, as there’s always a tiny hair or fiber evident. But again, nothing like the Castle review here, which makes me wonder if the first coins were produced while they were fine-tuning the process.
@OneIsLit:
I mean, I was probably still in middle school the last time I saw one in circulation. Clearly they’ve shrunk since then.
Kidding aside, maybe I am thinking of the silver dollar (though I don’t think I’ve seen one outside of a display case). Or (and here’s a weird thought), my dad’s parents got commemorative wedding coins from Canada for all the grandkids, with Charles and Di on them.
@TheInfamousBobaFett:
Incorporate a Pooh print into a MOC that doesn’t involve a picture frame or easel. Stick a Pooh print inside the little minifig pouch on the Classic Space tote bag.

Yes, exactly. Those who used their points on the coins without a doubt were using their points in the wisest way possible. And there were those who caught on well earlier than everyone else. I was also one of those people. I admittedly got a little lucky with the timing. But I was one of them, and now that I have the four coins and the case, and soon hopefully the fifth, I plan on selling the set off for some cash back on all the sets I bought. However, unless I manage to get $1000+ back (I won't), then I'm not scalping. I'm just getting a great deal on the sets.
It's also important to note that I would have never bought into the coins if I hadn't seen the Castle coin sell for $200 at least twice one evening. I specifically remember that. So while yes the prices did take a steep dive, for a tiny bit it actually appeared like you could make money from buying LEGO or at the very least, get LEGO for free. That was what got me involved, because it's not like you're going to say no to that. That said, I'm still happy with any money I make back, because it's still a great deal. They are definitely not worthless to me :)

The US dollar coin is even smaller. It's only 26.5 mm in diameter. Maybe there's another variant? Here in Canada, we had silver dollars up until the introduction of the Loonie. The Canadian Prince and Princess of Wales Canadian commemorative medallion from 1983 is getting close in size though. It took a bit of Googling, but it appears to be 38.1 mm.
@OneIsLit:
There have been a ton of US dollar coins in our history. The earliest wasn't even produced domestically, as the Spanish "pieces of eight" silver dollar (minted in Mexico) was declared legal tender in the US until 1857 (and at roughly 38mm, were the basis for many US dollar coins to follow). A 1776 "Continental Currency" coin that is believed to have been intended to be valued at $1 is about 38mm. The earliest form of silver dollar minted by the US Treasury was 39-40mm. The 1804 silver dollar from 1834 (it's...complicated) is 37-40mm. I can't find a diameter for the Gobrecht dollar, but have reason to believe it's the same as Seated Liberty. Seated Liberty is 38.1mm. Two dollar coins minted in gold were 12.7mm (thicker) and 14.3mm (thinner). The US Trade Dollar (a rare example of a coin that was demonetized when it's melt value reached $0.80) is 38.1mm. The Morgan Dollar, Peace Dollar, and Eisenhower Dollar (I _may_ have one of these from childhood) all stuck with 38.1mm. The Susan B. Anthony dollar changed that by reducing to 26.5mm (slightly larger than a US quarter dollar coin, which proved exceedingly unpopular). The American Silver Eagle was minted with a $1 face value, but made of one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver bullion (worth considerably more), and is the largest at 40.6mm. The "gold" Sacagawea dollar, Presidential dollars, and American Innovation dollars are all 26.49mm so as to work with vending machines and turnstiles that were developed for the Susan B.
So my medallion is 38.1mm as well? Once again, going back to the Spanish "piece of eight" for dimensions, which would explain why for years I thought it was an actual Canadian dollar coin (until I started paying attention to the design and realized there was zero mention of currency value). I know it's not legal tender, but if the size and weight match close enough, and the market value dropped low enough, people could have used those as slugs for coin-op systems.

I agree that it's a good move by Lego, but less so about the 'whining'. Maybe you'd call your boss/teacher/mother a whiner, but I doubt it, because you'd realise how disrespectful that would be.
If I was to choose my least favourite aspect of typical internet discussions, it would be the ever-present name-calling in response to people expressing their opinions. If complaining is what you like least about the internet, maybe don't log on to complain about complainers.
(I have no skin in the game on this topic, so no, I'm not "butt-hurt", but then maybe I'm just a "snowflake or a "social justice warrior")

Yup. For me, Lego is about the 'actual' Lego rather than the t-shirts and other merchandising. However... I'm fully aware that if someone gave me one of these coins, and I knew there was a full set to collect, I'd have to focus REALLY hard to convince myself not to obsess about completing the set.
My brain is broken and Lego knows it! :D

I've never bought anything from LEGO but sets/minifigures (keychains included), but if they put out a shoe that is geared towards adults and looks good, it'd be really hard for me not to splurge for it. I still regret missing out on the NFL team themed Pegasus 37's.

No complaint... merely an observation that some people will never be satisfied whatever Lego do!
Very curious to see how LEGO will screw this one up.
And also curious to see if the "later in the year" promise will actually be fulfilled or if it'll be like the Black VIP card for the poor souls who foolishly bought the 2nd UCS Millennium Falcon at full price.
@djcbs:
Hey, I would have bought UCSMF2 anyways. I wouldn't have taken my last couple hours of paid time off to wait in line before the store opened on launch day, but I still would have bought it. Probably not for May 4th, though, so I have no idea if I would have earned double points or what GWP would have come with it.
Aaaand... the website has already crashed
Has anyone managed to get one before the infamous “VIP is offline”?

I don't think it was available before maintenance. More likely they're gonna drop it at a random hour to prevent crash. I'm waiting second hour now and it's ridiculous... : /

I read elsewhere that these don't land until 9am BST. I did check though at 00:00BST on the off chance that they let a few slip through the net.
Past midnight on east coast of US and no Vip coin showing up in rewards. Guess they are also releasing at 0900 like UK?

Thank you very much for providing the exact time. I managed to get one.
9:00am BST and it told me VIO was offline
(I got worried!)
9:02am BST it woke up and coin successfully redeemed
YAY - I have a full house of all 5 !
It's live in the UK now!
I just redeemed one, with emphasis on ‘just’. VIP rewards centre is clearly creaky and had to refresh the coin redemption page multiple times before it worked.
Just redeemed mine ;-)
Sold out (UK) in minutes already, AGAIN! Lego VIP clearly not learning!
They're live on ebay already as well :(
Fortunately having managed to redeem my points I wont need to head that way.
Redeemed! Yes! My precious, shiny coin... :-D

Wow, sub 10 minutes. Seems you've got to be real quick. Lets hope Lego do re-release them all later this year for those that have missed out.
Lucky enough to get one in UK, but echo the comments above. For it to be sold out in 10 mins is just bonkers.
Sold out in under 7 minutes, but website held up better than last month. A bit slow, but no total collapse this time!
I managed to get the first two coins before the hype. Struggled with the third and phoned up lego who added one to my basket. Could not get onto the website for the fourth space one as it had crashed so missed out on that one. Then just managed to get on this morning and get the last one before it sold out in 7 minutes! I’m very glad they will be reissuing them so I can hopefully get a space one to display the full set. My stand looks weird with a round coin shaped hole
Was this released in the US at the same time?
At 6:01 AM PST I got the coin and code. I already had a cart with a set in it so at 6:02 AM PST I was fully checked out.
The system work for me this time. (It did not work for the Space coin or the Probe set.)
@bezetkace:
I was checking repeatedly since 8pm last night. The US site was normal without the coin for most of that time. Right around 9am everything but the LEGOLAND and LEGO House tickets disappeared from the Rewards Center, and a tiny note showed up at the top saying they were adding new rewards. When the full page came back up, the last coin was in the usual spot. There was no "maintenance" page this time. That's a default redirect when the site gets overwhelmed with traffic. The queueing system seems to work great, but they have to manually turn it on. They only do that when they anticipate high server load, and it's only set up to work on the main LEGO.com site. If the server load comes from another part of the site, I expect it'll still crash based on what I've been told by customer service.
@Michael40Plus:
They sent out an e-mail promising that these would be reissued sometime later this year, so it'd be a pretty big problem if they back out of that now.

I'm well aware of those, but they're a bit too "much" for me and kids are more likely to wear them than adults. I'm talking like implementing LEGO in a subtler way, something that doesn't stand out as much and that adults would be more interested in than kids. That's what I want.
