Our friends over at Promobricks have reported that one of their readers has been able to purchase two hitherto unknown Monkie Kid sets in the Dusseldorf brand store.

80025 Sandy's Power Loader Mech and 80026 Pigsy's Noodle Tank contain members of the Kid's gang piloting more weird and whacky vehicles while battling various enemies. A third set, featuring a myriad glow in the dark elements, is revealed in the back of the instructions. Head over to Promobricks for a look.

I haven't really gotten into the Monkie Kid stuff, but I do like that noodle tank.

By in United States,

Whoa! That third one looks awesome! A glow-in-the-dark skeleton mech?

By in United States,

Can't say I ever expected to see the words noodle and tank in the same sentence, but here we are.

I'm keeping my eye veeeery closely on these. Why? Cause I noticed oddities with 80015 (the Cloud Roadster) and to a lesser degree 80020 (the white jet) - they seem to have a fair whack of intentionally easy to detach 'modules' that don't serve an immediate purpose separated, but which remind me a -lot- of various combining Super Sentai-style mechs. Especially the roadster - that engine, the side intakes, and the front wheels are all very 'standard' removable. I think it'd be frankly incredible if they managed to have several of these vehicles combine together into something bigger - whether it be a huge mech or just a really cool vehicle - and these are the kinds of things I could easily see being part of a bigger whole.

By in United States,

I'd love to see a battle with the power loader mech against the demon bull king! Imagine that breaking out in the streets of Beijing, with the other heroes joining in to help.

Also, ditto on the Aliens flashbacks. Sandy saying "GET AWAY FROM HER YOU B****" is kind of amusing.

That ... would be an expensive epiphany if it becomes true!

Yeah I'm -hoping-, if this is the case, that it's not more than 4 sets. My vague thought is something like the roadster and jet being the 'legs' since the main bodies are long and rigid, and perhaps the noodle tank is a lower torso and waist? That would, of course, require the turntable to be -very- stiff to hold up the whole thing.

OMG! The news just keeps coming!
The subject matter of the sets isn't entirely surprising for those who have watched Season 2 of the show, but the ways they're realized is definitely a surprise!

Sandy's Power Loader Mech in the show was piloted solely by Mo, which led me to expect it to be much smaller (maybe even a small build to go with a different, larger set). Instead it's HUGE and the Sandy Bigfig pilots it! It definitely seems to suit him, especially with the large crescent staff!

Pigsy's Noodle Tank showed up briefly in a "Food War" episode between Pigsy's Noodles and the Speedy Panda Convenience Store. In that episode, Speedy Panda had been bought out by the Gold and Silver Horned Demons from last year, who sadly don't seem to reappear here. But the more normal-looking business owner Pan looks great, as does Lee from last year's Panda Store now relegated to mascot, and Tang in a goofy-looking tank top! The mech itself looks great, too—I love how the cockpit is shaped like a noodle bowl!

And that mech for the Lady Bone Demon... WOW. I'd noticed how themes like City, Friends, and Harry Potter had been using more glow-in-the-dark parts recently, but this absolutely blows that out of the water with a MASSIVE number of glow-in-the-dark parts.

I'm honestly surprised the Super Sentai-style mech fusion hasn't come from the Ninjago range. It's the perfect range for it.

It's surprising that they haven't give it more of a try - the Voltron was a really good execution considering the limitations and how they had to adapt something that was not made of Lego to begin with. Something from the ground up engineered to 'work as a Lego set' could be really fabulous. The first thing that comes to mind for why they'd do it for Monkie Kid is the popularity of the Chinese sentai-alike Giant Saver which has some really high quality figures, outdoing some of the real Super Sentai stuff - maybe trying to compete with that would be an interesting angle?

5 fingers on one hand on that mech!

Noodle Tank is giving me major 70726 Destructoid vibes

Seems like the large Monkie kid mechs have a habit of using large quantities of first gold, and now glow in the dark pieces.

By in United Kingdom,

Anyone else confused by the announcement of three sets but only two in this article? :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is there a reason you can’t just show us the third set?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ and ^^ Have you actually read the article? The answers are there.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Where’s the third set? Or is it just a typo?

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are just ridiculous... and I love them! Though I feel the Noodle Tank should have brick yellow spring missiles.

Yes, but why couldn’t they just show the picture on brickset.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Oh man... they looks so amazing, like many other sets of the theme I wish I could have purchased, but...

I REALLY wish to know WHY the Monkie Kid sets aren't being sold in Brazil. It is the ONLY theme not being sold here. Even the D2C, Ideas and Vidiyo sets are sold normally, arriving only one or two months after the rest of the world. Already asked on the local profile on Facebook and even sent an email but had no answers. It is so frustrating...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not into The Monkie Kid theme overall, but man, they are producing some great sets!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The best one of theses is the one not pictured, but monkey kid sets always feel poorly priced so I haven't yet bought any.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man, that Bone Demon Mech would be great for Ninjago; bring back the Skulkin with some female members this time around.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Monkie Kid has quickly become one of my favorite new themes. I really like Sandy's mech, and while I'm not too interested in Pigsy's tank, I will likely also be picking that up to use its parts in my Pigsy restaurant MOC I'm building with pieces from the first wave's foodtruck.

Thank you. That is understandable.

By in Canada,

I think the designers are having a lof of fun with this theme.
I'm guessing the generally higher prices allows them to go crazier than normal.
A lot of wow factor.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope really hope Mei gets a White Dragon Horse Mech after these. I just love that color scheme and design style.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does the noodle tank remind anyone else of 70726 destructoid?

Gravatar
By in United States,

My reactions:

Sandy’s Mech: “oh, wow. sweet mech. very chunky.”

Pigsy’s Noodle Tank: “well, looks like SOMEONE takes corperate rivalry a little too seriously. I mean, even Mr. Krabs never went this far.”

The third one: “COOL! Another boss monster for our heroes to kill by whacking one leg repeatedly. You know, as one does. Oh, and the glowy bits are neat, too.”

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I absolutely love the theme but it’s waaay out my price range unfortunately/fortunately.
