Oh. My. Word. It looks huge!
Can't wait.
My wallet is suffering from great turmoil . . .
I knew that it was going to be big, but that looks positively MASSIVE. Should be awesome.
Wish it was announced at Legocon instead
Nah, given LEGO's recent streak, it's probably the Mandalorian Armoury.
I didn’t get an email :-/
Could not wait. I bet there will be some exclusive Minifigures and maybe some extra bags to design to that specific area (One for the Prequel trilogy and one for the Clone wars).
Review tomorrow at 2pm then, I hope?
Holy excitement, Batman!

Rumor is that there will be two minifigures : Mace Windu and a yellow clone.

Had heard this from the lego star wars reddit page the other day, I'm hoping there's at least going to be some arm printing for each of the purported figs...
Speaking as someone who has resisted the urge to buy any of the UCS and 18+ sets, and hasn't purchased Star Wars sets since Episode III, my predictions are that the UCS Gunship will be 1. the second most expensive Star Wars UCS set because LEGO think/believe enough people will pay the price, and 2. It will not live up to the expectations of many of those AFOLs who have have waited so long for it (just remember that this is the same team who are releasing a second Vader's Meditation Chamber with a huge plinth and exposed lift mechanism).
Judging by the silhouette…holy butts, it looks massive and STUNNING. I cannot wait to pick this one up.
That shot looks a bit like a Lockheed C5 Galaxy or Antonov AN-225 in the shadows to me. OK, the wings might be a bit droopy ;-)
Man this is hice.
Far more excited for the prospect of a £650 UCS AT AT if there’s any hope of a release this autumn, although difficult to believe Lego would release two UCS sets in such close proximity to each other.
My expectations are very high, as it is scheduled to be the second UCS I shall add to my collection, the first being not exactly an UCS (Death Star 10188). I have voted for the Republic Gunship in the fan poll, this particular ship is in my top 3 favorite SW design ever. Now, all will depend on... The price.
I would wager that a Jedi Bob polybag will be a GWP or VIP Bonus.
Bob’s too iconic to be missed out!

Still won't be as cool as today's Random set of the day.
This is the announcement you're looking for.
Apparently the announcement is that it has now switched to the Friends theme, is finished in Light Purple and Medium Azur, and comes with several mini-dolls.

I kinda get the feeling it’s that way for a lot of people since this is only like the 3rd PT based UCS set.
Of course, many of the people who grew up with the PT are now aging into the target demo for the UCS market, so we may expect more PT-based sets in the future. Certainly can’t expect any less!
I’m personally in the Nebulon camp, but the Gunship is probably my favorite design from the PT, so it should be interesting at least
If the leak I saw is real, and judging by the above silhouette it is… I’m a bit disappointed actually LOL.

So we're now getting announcements about announcements?

Disappointed that the medical frigate wasn't picked, and a prequel vehicle was picked instead.
The prequels just don't have the same appeal as the OT."
Growing up when the prequels were released I respectfully disagree. I would much rather have prequel sets than original trilogy. Haven't we had enough OT? I think most of the OT has been remade over and over and over again, while the prequels have ships and minfigs that have yet to be in a set.
I hope Lego is starting to realize that those that grew up watching the PT and Clone Wars are now in their 20's-30's and are part of the group buying UCS models.
Not saying they should only make PT, because obviously OT is where the money is at, but there are some nice ships from the PT that deserve the UCS treatment.

-_- Its just that I had to waste 2 hours of my time hoping to see this set but only got to see sets that I've already seen. if they had just revealed it on the con I would be happy and thought my wasted 2 hours would be fulfilled. thats all. I have no problem with whatever they show. just how the set is being shown, however they are definitely setting up the hype.
Edit: @CDM
I love the ship from the clone wars and prequels, but I doubt I could spare the money needed to buy this. Also, being a big minifigure guy, I’ll be more put off if the rumored figure selection is true.

I would have preferred it to be minifig scale with 5 or 6 minifigs personally. I've been holding off on getting the Brickvault one, but I think that's the route I'll go now.

Idk, I’d kill for a Resistance Bomber and Snoke’s Supremacy. Even a UCS Ski Speeder with all kinds of little greebly bits and a display stand that incorporates the red dust of Crait would be a pretty striking model.
Both eras should have their time to shine.
I’m expecting a super nice model and an underwhelming minifigure assortment
@fakespacesquid:
I’m 99-11/10% sure they are not being restricted to a specific announcement date by Lucasfilm or Disney on this one. For one thing, Disney has been trying to Wizard of Oz the PT (pay no attention to the movies behind the curtain!) ever since The Forced Remake hit theaters. When the USC SSD leaked years ago, they rushed out their press release once it became obvious that the cat had just turned the bag into confetti. And the only time they legitimately seem to be restricted on how/when they roll out announcements is when an upcoming film has been subjected to an exclusive media contract with some major news outlet (and all AFOL sites are held to a press embargo until Access Hollywood or Rolling Stone runs an article that concludes with, “and there will be LEGO sets.”)
It does happen, but not for sets based on a film that’s nearly old enough to drink when the only reason they’re doing that set at all is because of a fan vote. The only time I can recall new SW sets based on old movies being subjected to such an embargo is back when the final DVD versions of the OT were released. Lucas himself wanted _all_ releases across the board to happen on the same day, which resulted in that janky LSW game for DS that apparently can’t be beaten, and I think even announcements of new OT sets had restrictions imposed on them. Certainly any sets released around that time were held to a strict street date, like home video releases, where any store caught selling early would be fined by Lucasfilm on a per-item basis.

Only 2 figures? This set deserves tons of splendid figs and at least some exclusive ones!
Why does it have to be huge? It has to be faithful to the source material and it has to be on minifig-scale. Everything else is extra.

Exactly! It IS a big ship, you can make a good 18+ set of it in accurate minifig size and super detailed! Just like the UCS y-wing, x-wing, slave I, … and as for me it could have more than 2 figs or even plenty of them like mos eisley, cloud city, … Those are ucs as well, so why not?

Not to be that guy, but hanging around for 2 hours hoping for a reveal is a waste of time by you, and you didn’t have to; we all know that whatever is/was revealed would be blasted on every Lego site afterwards, which you then can view at your leisure. Seeing it live wouldn’t change anything.

@Clutch_P:
Post-pandemic Speed Champions are more minifig-scale than 75181. A 6’ tall human is roughly 1.8 of those meter thingies. The OT Y-Wing is supposed to be just over 16 meters long, so about 9x as long as an average human is tall. A minifig is 1.5” tall. To be accurate to the height of a minifig, a Y-Wing model would need to be about 13.5” long. 75181 is nearly twice that, at 24”! It’s possible that it’s correctly scaled to the flight helmet, but that’d be about it. Even Toy Story 3 Woody would be a bit too short to qualify for flight school.
The two Millennium Falcons are pretty close (though the Falcon changes quite a bit during the OT, and may in fact be a TARDIS*). Slave I has a cargo hold. The Y-Wing from the OT is just a single-seater bomber with a droid socket. But at least it’s not as messy as the A-Wing, which changes in size from a limo to a sub-subcompact depending on who drew the artwork. And an X-Wing should be about one minifigs shorter than a Y-Wing, so roughly 12” to be accurate (this means many of the “minifig-scale” sets are actually oversized, because the new X-Wing that everyone said was too small is 12.5” long).
* It is physically impossible to fit all of the interior sets from the OT inside the largest of the OT exterior sets (the Falcon changes size and quantity of landing gear over the course of the OT, and the cockpit frames in Ep4 change depending on whether it’s an interior or exterior shot). The first person to build a UCS-scale MF did a ton of research, trying to figure out the “accurate” interior layout, since every official source seemed to make it up on the fly. Ultimately, he started mapping out how the interior would have to be laid out according to movie scenes, and realized it can’t work. Unless it’s a TARDIS, and the interior space is not strictly constrained by the exterior hull.

A Fordo would be classic red while AOTC style captains use darker reds closer to dark red.
As much as I like the gunship, it's not my pick for a ucs treatment. Like some people have said, the ucs version doesn't add much additional detail to the current minifig scale gunship. It's a ship that already has enough details at minifig scale. It's just weird to have a ship to be bigger than minifig scales especially when minifigs are provided with the set. It just so weird to put mace inside and have him only half the height between the hanging handles and the floor. In the movie he could clearly grab the handles easily. Capital ships would always be my choice for ucs treatment.

I had the same expectation that it would be UCS X-Wing / Y-Wing size.
And this actually means Hasbro 3 3/4 inch actionfigure scale in our reality.
I hope a minifig scale version is just around the corner, now that they can use the UCS as a blueprint for a downscaling similar to Sandcrawler and Slave One.
I finally have enough disposable income and want to spend it on 3 copies of a 100% perfectly scaled minifig LAAT/I of which one gets converted to a Muunilinst 10 (which deserves its own set, even if only as a Comic-Con exclusive), rather than spend the same amount of money on an unnecessarily large version. The current moc instructions don't really catch my sense of design, they are too curvy or are hellbent on using as many pre-2010 pieces as possible so one model would cost 300€ through Bricklink.

The last UCS prequel set was 11 years ago, and that set’s poor sales are presumed to have put them off the idea of more PT sets up until a vote proved that it was viable.
Lego: do you want a UCS Nebulon-B starship (zero complete sets thus far in Lego), a TIE bomber (zero sets thus far in Lego), or a Republic gunship (multiple complete sets thus far in Lego, in minifig scale)?
The Internet: The Republic gunship!!
Lego: LoL K. Here is a(nother) kick@$$ model of the Republic gunship.
The Internet: Why is it so expensive? Why is it so big? Why are there only 2 minifigs? Why is the minifig selection not exactly what I would have chosen? Why is it not minifig scale? Why doesn't Lego ever listen to the fans?
Lego: [facepalm]
I'm just going to pretend it is a super-sized minifig scale Gunship. A prototype super duty kind of Gunship, larger than the regular ones. Modify the cockpit depending on how it looks, maybe swap out the ball turret seat for a regular one, and just pretend it's all super-sized lol. Minifig scale problem solved for me. I saw the leaked back of the box and I'm stoked

Same here, I expected the first UCS after this Prequel drought, and with the human scale model out of the way (Obi-Wans JSF) to be a Venator since they were so essential to the clone wars. Then add a Lucrehulk in Trade Federation white as a counterpart with interesting shape. I would get those in a heartbeat if they are 400€ size and don't go overboard like 800€. Important would be to scale the Venator to the ISD, so it is far smaller, or make the Lucrehulk as big as possible and then scale the Venator to that. Invisible Hand is probably what ends up getting a release instead of Lucrehulk, but Lucrehulk would be the more interesting choice.
LAAT/I, AT-TE and MTT also need UCS treatments the most like all fig scale vehicles in that size range but they need to be minifig-scale or close enough, with all the important parts hitting JUST RIGHT! Like how Slave One, Millenium Falcon and the hopefully upcoming AT-AT are simply perfect. Just imagine an MTT with the full 112 battledroids in the box on the rack. Ok, I can still live with 60 but just make it huge.
Aside from those I can understand why Lego is hesitant about the prequels UCS. Munificient, Recusant, Octuptarra droid, Acclamator, Republic consular cruisers, Podracers, everything looks nice and imposing but has so few screentime, you would have to be unrealistically obsessed with the vehicle for reasons, that you simply don't share with most people.
But that is the thing, all of these are just as weirdly second-rate as Nebulon-B and TIE Bomber, let alone B-Wing, Sandcrawler and Imperial Shuttle. I can understand wanting them, especially B-Wing would be sad to not be there when all other alphabet wings are there (hopefully soon U-Wing, in correct minifig scale) but do so many people really need the other two that big for their one-scene wonders? Would have been smarter to make the main prequel ships before going that deep with OT.

"
It's because those who grew up with the prequels hadn't reached adulthood until now."
I dunno, there are a lot of us who have been part of the "adulthood" club for 7 or more years, give or take lol"
The last UCS prequel set was 11 years ago, and that set’s poor sales are presumed to have put them off the idea of more PT sets up until a vote proved that it was viable. "
So it was a calculated move from Lego to have chosen the possibly least exciting but still justifiably prominent Prequel ship as an UCS only to use that sales failure as a justification for going full OT for an entire decade so all major OT vehicles can get the UCS treatment before most the OG 1977 kids have reached their 50th birthday?

From my personal experience, I was too young to watch any of the OT films in the cinema, but I was a young adult when the PT films were around and I saw all three in the cinema. So I was kind of growing up with the PT films too, and I have quite fond memories of many scenes. Particularly the podrace has remained a favorite of mine, not least because I had the PC game to go with it. Awesome graphics and game play back in the day.
That being said, when it comes to ships based on Star Wars I still prefer the OT ones as those somehow felt more real. And being all physical models they actually were more real than the all CGI ships and vehicles of the PT films and everything current.
It's the same with Star Trek. I much prefer the visual effects scenes of films like The Wrath of Khan or The Undiscovered Country over any of the reboot films since 2009. To me there's just this feeling of "ah that's just CGI" versus physical model shots which, when properly done, just have a far superior look and feel imho. Simply not as artificial and unreal.
Hence I am excited to see this UCS version of the Republic Gunship, but I don't think I am going to buy it.

A thousand times, yes.

77904 may not have been revealed when the vote concluded, but it does now exist. And for the TIE Bomber, you’ve got 4479, 75008, 911613, and 912171. If you got 4484, 4485, 4486, and 4487, the bonus parts build another TIE Bomber.
I love how they're really starting to embrace and promote the community between the survey about the AFOL website and having David Hall on this livestream.
You got to love that they made an announcement about an announcement.
However, I personally wish that they would just announce that they will reveal a calendar of announcements for when official announcement will be teased for the release of highly anticipated announcements of what Lego designers will be eating for breakfast on the morning of major announcements.
Honestly, I have no idea what a traditional Danish breakfast is.
I just noticed the email describes the sneak peak as "world exclusive." What does that even mean? It will only be shown on Earth? Just my luck that I'm currently off planet...

While the original minecraft version from 2003 is sort-of valid, I don't think the others really count.

I guess that comment was only aimed at people like Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk.
;-)
@PurpleDave
I saw the leaks and I'm happy to say that it does have balls.

Is it wrong that I would LOVE Star Wars minidolls?!?"
NO! Lol
3 hours to go!
If we are to get more prequel UCS sets due to the success of this gunship, then I would love a Naboo starfighter. Bigger than the 10026 from 20 years ago please. It has such a nice design and will bring some much needed colour to the Star Wars UCS range.
My expectations are this will be very expensive. Probably a good looking set, but very expensive…
I’m buying this if I can convince my parents it’s not a crazy purchase

Good luck, you'll need it.

"Only 2 figures? This set deserves tons of splendid figs and at least some exclusive ones!
Why does it have to be huge? It has to be faithful to the source material and it has to be on minifig-scale. Everything else is extra."
Most UCS sets aren't minifig-scale and don't have more than 2 minifigs so I'm not sure what gave you that expectation "
I had the same expectation. I assumed it would be something in a similar style to the UCS Y-Wing ( 75181 ); minifigure scale and super accurate."
Exactly! It IS a big ship, you can make a good 18+ set of it in accurate minifig size and super detailed! Just like the UCS y-wing, x-wing, slave I, … and as for me it could have more than 2 figs or even plenty of them like mos eisley, cloud city, … Those are ucs as well, so why not?"
Neither the UCS Y-wing and X-wing are true minifig scale."
Exactly - no one in the real world actually looks like a minifig, apart from maybe Danny Devito or Patton Oswald. So it's impossible to say what measurements should be. The UCS Y-Wing looked super-stupid with a minifig in the seat, meanwhile the UCS Slave 1 is actually still too small - Slave 1 is a surprisingly big vessel. But Boba in the cockpit looks right-ish. The UCS MF has minifigs too, and again is probably too small, but looks great with them through the window.
Not saying I'd be upset if the gunship is minifig-able either. Don't mind getting best of both worlds where it makes sense.
@MainBricker:
When will got the very first UCS sets (X-Wing and TIE Interceptor), I found that a Technic fig fit perfectly in the X-Wing cockpit (it helps that they used a Technic seat), while the TIE Interceptor pod was small enough that I could only get a MASK action figure seated inside.

Easy to see why you were waiting, you commented 5 minutes before it was supposed to be revealed. The time is listed in the article above.

My mom went crazy when I bought assembly square. They might also tell me that I already have because I rebuilt the 2008 gunship. So I hope they don’t kill me
