Today's random part is 18674, 'Plate Round W. 1 Knob', which is a System part, category Plates, Special Circles And Angles. It was introduced in 2015 and is still in use today. It's been made in 17 colours and has appeared in 894 sets, one of the first of which was 70738 Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty.

I have 505 of these? I'd have guessed maybe a hundred!

Actually it is my favorite piece of the year 2015! and why? You can make minifig R2-D2's head able to turn. I still wonder why I did not see it blogged anywhere and myself was a little lazy for that.

I build Lego sets with my family. One person builds, one finds the bricks and one reads the instructions. We therefore have names for a lot of the common bricks. This one is a round camera plate, as we call the square version a camera plate. Can’t remember why.

Ah that Discworld favourite, the Wizard’s Round Plate has a Knob on the End!
Well, I have about 120 of these. And they're mainly medium or dark stone grey. Or white. So I instantly assumed it was all Star Wars (37k pieces of my collection come from that theme). But it's actually mainly Marvel (with 'only' 23k pieces). The white ones are all over the place.

Oh hey, first RPotD that I own. I have just six of these, looks like... all from post-dark age sets. For that matter, all from sets I got as Christmas gifts on various years, meaning I've never actually bought anything containing this part.
It's... a piece. Not a part that left a strong impression on me one way or another, though.

You can use these with 15535 "FLAT TILE 2x2 ROUND W. HOLE Ø4.85" to get a two plate thick antistud to antistud reversal.
