Our first real glimpse of Andy Serkis' Alfred!
As a huge fan of DC- I'm ready!
Not a bad series of sets! My only real complaints stem more from the movie it's adapting rather than the sets themselves. Honestly kinda wish the movie had some more whimsy to it if that makes sense.
I kinda joke the way you reboot Batman films is to just remove as much color as you can and make Batman whinier.
Although, part of me is concerned that this movie shouldn't be targeted towards kids. Let's be honest, the playsets are targeted towards Children. Batman as a franchise has had a history of trying to sell things not appropriate for the target market to make a quick buck.
These look awesome, but I really think LEGO should’ve invested in a new cowl mold for Robert Pattinson’s Batman. New hair molds are always great to see but the comic cowl mold doesn’t really look anything like the one on this movie.
These look soulless to me in the way that a lot of gritty superhero stuff does. I like Batcaves a lot but this one looks so boring. It would not have appealed to me as a child. And this Batmobile is neither attractive nor does it look particularly fun to play with.
I found the LEGO Batman Movie sets so fun and joyous and innovative. That was one of the themes that got me back into LEGO after decades away. I guess I just enjoy that un-self-serious vibe so much more.
Wow, Batman really does only work in black, and sometimes very, very dark gray!
And the occasional light grey. Tan if he's feeling adventurous.
Seriously though, these sets are almost monochrome XD
EDIT: This is not the fault of the set designers, but wow, that Riddler looks like the most joyless rebooted character design I've seen in a long time. Why even bother adapting the character if you just put a random facemask and a question mark tag on a standard guy?
EDIT EDIT: Looked up the costume and ehm... it's probably because lego had barely anything to work with due to having to work with concept art. Because if not... it's the designers fault.
The sets are not what I was expecting (nor was I expecting sets from this movie, especially 4!)
I may pick up the cheaper options. The Batmobile is just a regular car, which I guess makes sense. But that's part of the fun of Batman is the over-the-top theatrics of it all.
I guess pick a lane, be serious and gritty (which is in the fashion now) or be campy and whimsical (which is a lot more fun for everyone).
I wish them well. I'll have to see how cool Cedric can be as the Batman.
That muscle car Batmobile looks so much better than this year's Ghost Rider one.
I’ve held off on Technic because once I’m in, I’m all in. And I have too many themes that I like. But that car looks really cool. Very tempting.
They desperately need to retire that Batman head. We needed a new mask, and the Bruce Wayne figure doesn’t look like Rob Pat. I expected more from a movie wave.

I think maybe LEGO wants to try and keep their Batman minifigure looking as familiar as possible. This cowl does the best job of representing Batman while still feeling like a LEGO character to me.

“You’re a wizard Alfred!”
Why does Alfred have a wand?
Glorious minifigs!
As a Batcave, it's not that good. But as a train station - it's perfect!
(I do like all of these sets, though. With every Batman set I buy, I always tell myself it's the last one.)
If it's not 1966 it's not MY Batman!
The Technic Batmobile looks incredibly boring IMO, but the light brick is cool.

Why don't you? They make doing magic so much easier!
Although in all seriousness, it's probably a ruler, one of those sticks you can point at charts with during presentations, or a cane.
I'm a DC fan, but these don't look very good..
I think that these are all great sets with fantastic minifigures.
Big Fan of Batman on the whole but apart from the Batcave (which looks pretty neat) the rest just don't jump out at me as anything special.
And apologies in advance to anyone who likes it but that Technic Batmobile (to me) looks a mess.
I REALLY want that minifig scale Batmobile
Batmobile with no fins? Penguin with no hat? Count me out.
Lego: Give us Star Wars and Marvel for 2022
I saw on Instagram that Walmart.com is taking pre-orders for this line. I definitely plan on getting the 76181 Batmobile to see if it's any faster than Ghost Rider's Hellcat. ;)
Batman with all the fun, camp and flair removed.
I am so excited for the interpretation of the Batman character with this movie, and these sets only enhance that for me. Fortunately, the Catwoman and Batman figures are the same in the $15 set as the Batcave, so only need to get 2 sets. I love the new prints for these figures, across the board fantastic. I have to agree with @CM4Sci though, the cowl and Batman head are so wrong for this figure. I will definitely be swapping out the cowl for the short-eared variant, and I'll figure something out for the head. I like the use of the Tom Riddle head, I do feel that it captures Pattinson's gauntness in this movie.
Additionally, I am very interested in those new motorcycle pieces and what we can do with them, it seems like a good new part to allow for more reasonably sized built up bikes, instead of the massive ones we got in 76053.
Lastly, I am so excited to add this batmobile to my collection of minifigure scale movie batmobiles, it'll go perfectly with the 66 version, the BvS version, and the new Tumbler.
Blocky-yes, but I find the motorcycles quite charming, and I'm pleased that they are not massively oversized like some recent Avengers motorcycles. I can definitely see these getting plenty of 'swooshable' play from my kids, although I think the headlight stickers need to go and modded with some actual pieces.
Batmobile is a bit 'meh' but I will need to get it to complete my batmobile collection. Jim Gordon mini-fig is the standout for me, great depiction of Jeffrey Wright : )
As a big Batman fan, this is not my jam.
But to be fair, the movie might not be either.

My guess is that it's probably a pipe. And if it is, watch out cuz he'll probably get canceled for "smoking."
well i like those streetlamps up top
that's about it

I’m sure it’s not. LEGO does not allow depictions of smoking in sets.

To me, it’s a really cool car, not a really cool Batmobile. If that makes sense. I agree, as a Batmobile it’s a little boring.
I wonder if (kind of hope that) the new Stuntz flywheel will be incorporated into non-City sets. My kids have played with two of the Stuntz bikes for a week, and they enjoy them infinitely more than the massively oversized brick-built bikes that usually come with superhero sets.
Somehow Batman is a character that feels like he has been stuck these last few years trying to repeat the Dark Knight Trilogy in terms of tone and grit. I loved the Dark Knight Trilogy, but seeing future Batman film adaptations seeming to ape the monochromatic grittiness without the flair those films had is starting to get... dull.
I am just waiting for when Batman's 49th reboot attempt comes around and somebody finally decides to go back to a full on camp 60's style, or even a retro Golden Age throwback (Batman in the Art Deco era he was born in). Until then... I guess going to see Batman in the movies is just going to be a dark affair.
Eh, teenage me would have been all over this forced darkness though... AND there are some neat minifigures. The architecture of the BatCave is kinda neat too, so hey strip it down and rebuild it into a proper train station or something.
I think these look awful. It isn't hard for me to get sucked into any (and most) themes, but there's nothing here that looks even vaguely good. Ironically the technic set looks the best of the bunch, but I'm not into technic at all.
I am surprised by the relatively positive response to the new motorcycle elements. New pieces are usually interesting, but these seem incredibly restrictive. I can imagine motorcycles constructed around them becoming extremely repetitive, even though these three look reasonable.
These sets look a little sparse and cheap but will do the job for anyone looking to fill that Batman Lego completion need.
42127 THE BATMAN - BATMOBILE on the other hand just seems like a total non-event.
also the US gets these on Nov 1st. Uk Jan 1st?
These sets make me even more concerned for the movie. The movie with test audiences was so bad that it had to be re-written. With these sets, it shows that there are 3 villains (2 if Catwoman is an anti-hero). I just feel like that is too much and that one of them will ultimately have barely any screen time or character to them (ie. Bane in Batman & Robin). Plus, LEGO released the amazing Tumbler and 60's batmobile recently, compared to this new batmobile that doesn't really have a character or charm to it. Easy pass for me
Yeah, pass. I'm sure Lego did their best from what they had to work with, but these just don't seem very fun to me. If you took the Batman minifig out and removed the brand label, these would not sell.

Have test audiences ever been right? I'd rather let the writer and director put their actual vision on screen and let it stand on its own vs higher-ups endlessly tinkering with it so that the focus groups push the right buttons

The alternate set images do indeed show him using it as a pointing stick
Is that some new kind of stud shooter that Penguin has?
It's the same Batman sets we get every one or two years: minifig Batmobile, large scale Batmobile, Batcavern computer and Batman bike pursuit.
They aren't looking bad though. People complain that Batman is too dark, then when we get something exaggerated and campy like 1960s series and the Schumacher films, people complain it is too colorful.
I thought this film was going to be called "Patzman" after the horrific mis-casting of R-Patz as Bruce Wayne.
The motorcycles look like they belong in a 4+ set.

The classic "mis-casting" before we've even seen a full minute of him in the role. The same happened with Keaton, Heath Ledger, the list goes on. Just because you only associate him with one movie doesn't mean he hasn't had a career's worth of excellent performances
@Orange_Jooze said:

Good catch, I initially assumed it was https://brickset.com/parts/design-41812 but it looks like it's a combination of that and the current stud blasters. Wonder why we've got a new one so similar to the previous?
There are many black pieces in these sets.
Nice! Maybe Lego can do Batman in a castle next? Like medieval Batman? Spin-off type of thing? 3000 piece castle with like Medieval Batman and Joker facing off.
I'm really stoked for the movie, but these sets don't really win me over. Especially the Batmobile, sadly. I love the movie's rendition of it, but the both the Lego and Technic versions miss the mark. I'll probably get the Lego one, but I'll need to make some modifications...
The placement of Battinson's screaming head front and center in the full-box-contents picture of the Batmobile is ... really something.
That's an easy 'Nope' from me - they all look so disappointingly boring...
These all look great to me. Not perfect, but still great. I am so unbelievably excited for this movie!

Which photo? He's on one of the side flaps of the Technic set, not screaming, and the bottom right of the System set, also not screaming
^ The default picture of 76181 in the database. I mean the minifigure head, not a movie still.
I like the sets. The penguin and riddler look dope. The car looks great, and i am intrigued by the metro station as a batcave. Didn’t knew about a new batmanmovie in the making.
Bland sets. I'd like to see sets based on The Gotham TV series.
No ones talking about the new shooter penguin has
A Technic Batmobile?
Looks verrrrry different then the System one in the Penguin Chase...I really think the shape has not translated well, what with the colored pins and gaps everywhere.
Won't the pieces inside of the wheels on the Penguin Chase Batmobile spin around with the wheels? The u-shaped tiles?
Also, I find it funny that it comes with a decapitated head...
@TheOriginalSimonB:
The best live-action Penguin I’ve ever seen was Robin Lord Taylor in Gotham. No hat.
@Cooliocdawg:
It looks similar to the EMP gun from the Dark Knight trilogy.
I really am not a big fan of the films, but the Batmobile goes down as one of my favorite film cars. I love the current version. Seeing a Technic version is unusual. I'll likely go for 76181 due to my budget, but I still prefer 42127.
These renders(?) looks strangely desaturated! I know they're not colorful to begin with, but the colors themselves look off. That being said, I really like how the details on the Batsuit are done. I hope we get some adult-targeted sets for this movie!
Movie doesn't look interesting, and these sets even less so. Probably the best of these is the Penguin chase car, and that;s just a glorified Speed Champions set.
Watching the movie trailer, I really can't fathom how you get a bunch of 8+ sets out of it, either.
Lego really needs to make a dual-molded Batman cowl already! I'm tired of seeing "workout headband" Bruce Wayne/Batman.
I agree with others that the Technic Boatmobile looks incredibly boring.
As for the movie... well we're going the Spider-Man 3/Amazing Spider-Man 2 route with 3 villains, so give that track record, I wouldn't get your hopes up for the franchise.
I'm not impressed by the vehicles at all. I know its adapting the movie, and they're going back to doing another 'year one' batman which means he's not fully developed everything yet... but still, they look incredibly bleh and boring and the minifigure Batmobile seems massively off scale. That Technic Batmobile too... did that finish designing it? It looks like they didn't compete it before telling them to send it for packing.
Guess the minifigures are okay, but the sets aren't doing anything to make me want to add them to my collection, or making me want to go and see the movie.
At least the new bikes are kinda descent,...I guess,
Not much to say otherwise: the batcave looks bland, empty and boring. Same goes for the figures: no color, no excitement,...The car is rather ordinary looking for a batmobile. If batman wouldn't be near it, it could be any car really...
An easy pass for me!
Very lame to be honest
Sets look fine, but I'm not digging the new Batman aesthetic. I'm not inherently objected to redesigns, but the Bat-gear and villains had so much character and memorability, and what they've been replaced with looks so generic, like it could be from any TV cop drama.
Though I've been surprised before, I thought the Gotham series was going to be bland/forgettable and I ended up loving that!
Oh boy.. Time to buy another batmobile for the collection. However isn't that going to be a quick 'chase' if Penguin does not even have a motorcycle?!

"Yer a wizard Alfred!"
That makes sense.
Excited for the movie, not for these sets though.
Is that a new rail piece without ridges in the bat cave/station? Or am I out of date?
These sets look very, very black :)
I really like Batman, but for some reasons not really in Lego form.
Really like the system Batmobile and Batcave, with some tweaks they'll fit with Apocalypseburg. Just need to crank up the dark and grittiness even more.
I collect Batman themed minifigs, but this line of minifigs I will skip. Not because Lego did bad job, but because this characters are away from that comic feel, no masked villains looks and all.

Absolutley. I'm getting heavy Man of Steel vibes from these sets.
They also make that lame impression a lot of sets that are based meerly on concept art or production stills make. The Shang-Chi car chase set come to mind.
And they look ridiculously simple next to also being plain. Feels like the designers just threw these together in an evening and didn't try at all (altough to be fair, they definitley weren't given much to work with in the first place- though to be fair again, these sets didn't need to exist and they just could've made some fun Batman stuff instead). And the price tag on that Batcave is awful as well.
One good thing that stems from all of this is that this means the movie won't be rated R.
Of course the fanboys will whine about it a lot, but they'll shut up once the'll preorder the Blu-Ray box-set of the inevitable R rated "Extended Edition". Those suckers...
They look good, but I’m slightly worried about the muted colours. Using the TMNT movie and Lord of the Rings sets as precedent, they don’t seem to sell well among kids.
Oh well, I’ll be sure to get the Batcave in particular.
"I only work in Black... and sometimes really really dark grey". Beyond the figs, these might be the least interesting Batman sets Lego has ever released.
Not sure about the movie, but the new Batmobile looks pretty sick. Its not much money, so Ill probably pick it up to add to my other two Batmobiles.
How incredibly boorish
That Batmobile looks more like a Ghost Rider car than a Batmobile. Even the Kilmer and Clooney ones still looked like a Batmobile as silly as they were.
Dull, dull, dull and dull.
DC LEGO has shown occasional bursts of interesting sets when it’s expanded beyond Batman. Then LEGO gets drawn back in and it’s more of the same.
I get pretty bored with the endless stream of Batman oriented set lines but these do actually strike me as kinda cool and stylistically distinct from what we usually get. This new movie looks very Nolan-ish and I'm down for some of that gritty street-level realism every once in a while.
If these were any more boring, you’d lapse into a coma just looking at the pictures.
Well that’s a few hundred dollars I won’t be spending next year.
They really should focus on DC Comics-based sets with a broader range of DC’s many characters beyond the Batman Family because that’s when they make great sets and I buy them.
Not only does the set itself look dull and colorless, but LEGO even desaturated the image in post.
Also, what's with the figures not being posed?
I like these! I suspect I am the odd one out, I am not a fan of the whimsical batman, I much, much prefer the grittier personas !
I must say that the Technic BatMobile is by far the worst Technic set I have seen in a long time. If I have to be honest, my 14yr granddaughter can almost build a better looking car and she’s not employed by Lego. She is currently building 42124 Off Road buggy at this time. Why did Lego not have the designer of the Mac Anthem or the Defender work on this model? I will pass on this set and save my money for the Titanic set.
@Brickman193:
I can’t see Serkis’ face in anything and not think of how much I hated his voice in LotR. It didn’t help that we saw his face with that voice during the Sméagol/Dèagol scene.
@xboxtravis7992:
I feel like TLBM is as far in that direction as they can get without driving away all the actual Batman fans. Taken as a while, B:TAS is fairly dark, and it’s clear that this “kid’s show” was aimed straight at adults the whole time. It becomes even more obvious if you watch JL/U right after, as the rest of the characters have more cheerful personalities, but Batman only changed clothes. If you want to blame anyone, look to Burton. After the 66 show, the comics got campy to match, and drive sales down. By the time stuff like The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, and The Killing Joke came out, the character was all but forgotten. Then Burton turned him into a blockbuster movie, and people started reading the comics again...right after they killed Jason Todd, and Batman was becoming unhinged prior to the introduction of Tim Drake.
And for Golden Age, do you mean back when he used to carry a gun?
@CapnRex101:
I like the two generations of modular bodies. I was really hoping the Stuntz bodies would be compatible with the previous modular frame. This new kiddie frame doesn’t excite me one bit. Maybe I can figure out something to do with it, but it’ll most likely just sit in the box.
@TheEpicLuke:
Justice League got rewritten. Look how that turned out. I still haven’t opened my copy of the Whedon Hack.
@sir_vasco:
I have a coworker who gave up on Gotham, and the very next episode they introduced Zsasz, a character he loves from the Arkham games. That was when an realized it was really a 10pm show in an 8pm timeslot.
@PixelTheDragon:
Excali-bat is the TLBM Batman from Dimensions, so he can be tricky to find in the Bricklink catalog. Other Castle-y Batsuits include Wizbat and Tartan Batman. Castle-adjacent gets you Baturion and Buccaneer Bat.
As a Batman fan I feel no attachment for these, beyond their dull appearance. They just don't seem to have any life in them.
I was kind of hoping the sets would have something interesting, as this movie looks like a complete trainwreck. But none of this looks very interesting.
Sorry, LEGO. It’s not your fault.

Best bat cave ever... not that it had any significant competition.
Not Lego’s fault but…
…that doesn’t look like any kind of Batmobile,
Just a black car.
(I hope it looks better in the film)
