I can see myself using that piece for a turret on a spacecraft, with the close-together studs for a double barrel.

By in Australia,

This would be great in a Blacktron moc! I want 10!

It’s incredible what seeing a piece out of context can do for your imagination.

Is this the first license-specific RPotD we've had?

Hang on, I had a comment under a Minions article on how the new head piece could be used. I'll copy and paste it here. Though unfortunately there isn't really a way to make a 3x3 smooth cylinder, I was talking about the 2x2 ones:

"I can't help but feel this theme has been a massive flop due to the movie being delayed. However, the Minions have some nice pieces which could appear elsewhere. The heads could be round snot bricks, used to attach pontoons to bottoms of helicopters and submarines, like part 6042. The hair stalk could be used for foliage. The minion pieces would work well for more NPCs in the Mario theme, particularly the villain Fawful."

I could see this being used as a hub for some sort of turret, with the barrels coming out of the eye connections

Great piece for a moc as the navel in a Beijing bikini.

Discombobulated Bob, eh?

Kudos to LEGO on making Minions that look decent, and like Minions, without making them more like small action figures, as did MEGA (and whom I can't stop buying).

@Norikins :
I’ve picked up dupes of everything they’ve released so far except the two Brickheadz, the blister pack, and the keychains (one copy each). I have no idea what the sales numbers are, but Minions are popular in general, and it’s not just LEGO sets that have been pushed out over a year before the film will finally land. Would they be selling better if the movie was actually out? Yeah, but probably more because people would know to look for Minions merch than that they’d suddenly develop an interest because of the fifth film.

All seven shows we’ve done since the first wave of sets released has had Minions on it, and they’ve always generated positive comments. So far, all I’ve done is put a giant Kevin (simplified from his Lair build, so he doesn’t open) with Bob/Stuart/Otto on the layout, and the last two shows I added a guy in a banana costume running in terror. I do need to figure out two more scenes I can add, though, since we’ll have three layouts up the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

@brick_r:
It’s Otto, not Bob. The three Minions from the first film are 2-wide, with whole “heads” that include their mouths. Otto is the only 3-wide Minion, so they didn’t have to make him height-adjustable, and simplified his design a bit as a result.

Like a Blacktron ship!

@Kynareth has the right idea.

Sometimes it takes a little more creativity to use space parts in a MOC.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Seeing a minion scalped like that is surprisingly unsettling

My thoughts exactly! I need to make a gunship that uses it for a chin-gun or something.
