A new brand store has opened its doors today in Barcelona. The 800 sq.m store at Passeig de Gràcia 9 is the third of the new-style flagship stores and the first non-certified one in the country.

If you visit today or tomorrow and spend in excess of €75 you'll receive this store associate figure as a gift with purchase. Other GWPs will be available during November, including 40145 LEGO Brand Retail Store from the 12th to the 14th of the month.

The decor inside the shop is heavily influenced by the work of Gaudi and many of his famous buildings in the city feature as large scale models.

You can view photos of the interior taken by Tms95 after the break.

Looks nice. Would it be too much to ask to get the Dallas Northpark store in a larger space?

What does a store in Dallas have to do with a new store in Barcelona?

Hello form Barcelona!

I have had the opportunity to attend the opening of the store this morning. The store is beautiful, huge, incredible! With sculptures such as the Sagrada Familia and other emblematic buildings of the city.

In Barcelona we are lucky to have two other stores from the brand, and some other specialists, but this one is of another reality.

In the waiting queue, the atmosphere was already a party of that was already anticipating. There was great applause from all the employees when we entered the store, what a moment! I will definitely never forget it!

All the best!

The store looks amazing, but that GWP is just horrible. I think I'd probably let them keep it!

Man. The MOA Lego store in MN is SO LAME compared to some of the other stores around the world. I mean, I guess they have cool sculpture and stuff, but not IN the store, but above it.

I guess what I'm saying is, this store looks dope.

Wow, that looks awesome, love the Gaudí art! Enjoy, fellow LEGO fans who live in the area :-)

By in Estonia,

Nice to see a proper effort, might these be the most beautiful store sculptures to date?

PS It should read: Free nightmare if you spend in excess of €75...

By in Netherlands,

It seems LEGO really tries to push their "tourist" city stores to a next level in terms of decorations.

Even was very visible if you compare the Amsterdam LEGO Store to the Utrecht LEGO Store , Amsterdam being right next to Dam square and other tourist attractions, while the Utrecht Store just has this Shopping Mall appearance.

And there is still no Lego Store in the Czech Republic...

Looks like the same exact tree that the new NYC store has as its centerpiece, although the small builds on top of the leaves are different.

I love the Gaudi influences in the store decor!
Would love to go back to Barcelona and visit this flagship store.

At least you have a local store, any LEGO store is better than no LEGO store. Lol

Wow. These decorations look better than a lot of stuff you get to see at our Legoland even.

I think this format is only for flagship stores, not every store. In the UK that means London and maybe Edinburgh. But the downside is that the stores are not as easy to shop in because of all the tourists taking photos. The Leicester Square store is cool but if I lived in London I might well prefer to go to a non flagship store for regular shopping.

We can only write about it if people tell us about it! Was a store associate figure available there too?

Store figure available, already on bricklink for £100!

Practically every shithole on the Earth has an official LEGO Store but the Czech Republic where LEGO is manufactured still does not. :(

If they use this brickbuilt minifig design for a North American opening, will they add the yellow apron?

@daewoo:
It actually might be. The Schaumburg store near Chicago relocated from 3rd to 1st floor, and into a smaller storefront. Many people park on the ground level, walk the length and breadth of the 1st floor, and only venture up into the treetops when they have a specific store to visit (and only do so at the closest escalator or elevator to that store). This type of shopper only becomes familiar with stores on the first floor, plus a few select destinations in the upper levels. From things I’ve heard, it also sounds like the wealthier the shopper is, the less likely they are to want to drive up into any parking garage. Combined, this means a broom closet on 1st can move more product than a palace in the penthouse.

@lordofdragonss:
Did you submit photos? @Tms95 did, and here they are. It astounds me how many times someone can be the only person standing there, asking why nobody else is documenting what’s going on.

@RUL:
In the US, some markets like Chicago can have several LEGO Stores in close proximity, while most entire states have none. If you lived in Detroit, the only one in the entire state could be over an hour away, depending on exactly where you live. For much of the state, a round trip would take all day. For the rest, you’ll need to book a room for the night. As you get into the western half of the contiguous 48 states, you might need to book a flight. If you live anywhere in Alaska (keeping in mind that the second largest US national park in the state is about the size of Belgium), you’ll probably need a flight and a place to stay overnight.

Having a LEGO Store in your home country does not necessarily mean you’ll ever be able to visit it, or that it’s worth doing so except as a lifetime experience. Ironically, the very reason they make parts in the Czech Republic may be the same reason they don’t have a store there. Wages are lower than further west, but LEGO Stores tend to be planted in high-income areas where they’re more likely to do brisk business. Hence why there’s no actual Detroit store.

What does the PAB wall look like? I have seen some some deviation from the standard circle cubbies posted in a Facebook group, now I'm wondering if the newer stores are trying something different.

By in Germany,

That new GWP is awful, 3 stores opened in Poland this year and all three of them got this crap too. People lining up and waiting 3 hours to get it, hoping to resell later for 200% but I doubt many people want to buy it.

@NissanZ32:
I’d buy it if I was able to get it at a grand opening. I wouldn’t sell it if I got one. I’m not rebuying it from someone else, either, though I did get a set of the generic store minifigs (5000023, which doesn’t have store locations printed on the torsos).

3 hours? That's quite funny. I went to the grand opening. I arrived around 45 minutes before the opening time and I was the 10-15th in the queue. In the afternoon there were plenty of them, and yesterday morning the shelf behind the cashiers was full again. I think anybody who wanted one, could get it.

Similar with the tiles. They were given to everybody who visited the shop (even my 2yo daughter got one), when leaving it. There were 5000 and they last until Saturday afternoon.
