By in United Kingdom,

Does anyone know if there's going to be any other double VIP point promotions between now and Christmas? I have a couple things to pick up, but they wouldn't qualify for any GWPs so I'm inclined to wait for a better time.

Magmafrost: I believe i read somewhere Bricks and Pieces counts towards double VIP points, but it does not count towards Gifts w/ Purchase. However, Pick a Brick does count towards both. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

That is correct. Both options you can collect AND redeem VIP points BUT only pick a brick qualifies towards the GWP. It is on the LEGO website under questions.

I agree, last few months the price point for GWP's is too high in Australia and going by the disparity with prices of some sets here vs. overseas is not boding well for us AU based AFOLs. (Example of this disparity, compare 2 sets that are $100 US, 42126 is $250 AU, 42127 is $170 AU)

Thankfully the set I was wanting qualified for all GWP's and I was able to recoup the majority of the 2000 points spent on the camera with the double points so I'm happy to get the extras with what I was planning to spend anyway.

Yeah I deleted my comment because if you managed to track down the terms and conditions for the GWP, it does say bricks and pieces doesnt count towards it, whereas its not mentioned in the double points T&C. Pick a Brick honestly sucks in comparison though so I never use it, none of the good stuff is ever available from it

How are the VIP Reward Centre discounts? Let me guess, half-price art prints?

Art prints and "activity packs", whatever they are. And also some cosmetic unlock for a mobile game or something. Also it might be just me, but there's no pictures for any of them, so that's fun.

But the important thing is, none of the discount coupons are discounted.

I am probably being cynical, but double points and gwps and several major sets are out of stock??
Better not be back in stock on Monday!

On a plus note for UK buyers, noticed they’ve decreased the UCS AT-AT to ‘only’ £699.

I thought we were also getting x2 VIP points next week end over Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

Can anyone confirm if the VIP promo's this weekend are in store as well as on online?....
& if any London Branches (LS, SB or Stratford) have 76392 in stock...I popped into Leicester square last week and they were sold out of wizards chess sets, but still had hundreds of 40452 HP Gryffindor Dorms promos left. So wondered if a trip tomorrow might result in multi GWP's?

You can check the Lego website (On the set page it is called 'Check Store Stock')...I just had a quick look for the chess and it appears to be in stock in all 3 London stores.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For me, I often order to get the GWP. When I get to checkout, TLG's system invariably locks up. By the time I actually get through, the GWPs are gone. When this happens (LEGO...take note!), I always just cancel my order in its entirety and my money goes back into my wallet. Lego products are way too expensive these days just to get them without any perks. If TLG underproduces those perks, then I refuse to part with my money. I can't count the number of times I've canceled Lego orders this year alone...and this is happening even more frequently.

By their own stupid way of managing their GWP process, limited production, and high costs in general, TLG is pushing me out of purchasing their products. My wife is definitely grateful for this too.

This isn't BF, it's the VIP Weekend though?

According to Lego
What is LEGO® Black Friday?
In LEGO® Stores and on LEGO.com, Black Friday starts 26/11, and lasts until Cyber Monday, 29/11, with new sets, special gifts with purchase, VIP rewards and offers you won’t find anywhere else.

Does the camera reward code need to be used right away, or is it the standard 2 months?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not too impressed with the GWPs, so the real question is do I buy the sets I want now to get the sets (and the freebies), or wait and get the sets later, but ultimately without a freebie.. I don't have to have any of these gifts, so it likely doesn't matter, but free LEGO is free LEGO, so there is that.

I'd say the price limit is high, but it has been high all year. And it looks to be working since the gifts have been around longer than normal also. So you can't have it both ways...either low threshold and sell out and people get upset, or high threshold, they don't sell out but people upset about the threshold...

Or, y'know, they could just make more to begin with. There are smart marketing people who are supposed to be able to estimate demand ahead of time. But yeah, Santa's Visit is sold out just as I figured it would be months ago when I decided to wait for double VIP to make the purchase. That's how ordering from Lego just seems to be these days--the best times to order are also when things seem to be sold out.

Last year there were discounts on two specific discount codes during Black Friday. 1, this thread is about VIP Weekend, Black Friday is not until the following weekend, and 2, the VIP promos are announced day of so we don't know what they are ahead of time.

So, I bought a "Modular Police" at a local store with a 20% discount ... GG TLS!

Anyway: why doesn't TLS allow to reserve sets that are temporarily out of stock? Or, better, if you wan't give double points, don't make "VIP WEEKEND WITH DOUBLE POINTS"!

By in Australia,

I just purchased Titanic for $999 here in Australia (on back order til 12th Jan - I can wait, don’t need it for Xmas), with double VIP points (worth $105 off my next order!)!, plus qualified for both GWP’s which I’m hopeful to sell for around $50 - $60 each! Plus, I got $15 off with existing VIP points.
So I basically got the Titanic for around $770, or nearly 25% off!
Plus earned lots of Rewards Points on my VISA, which will go towards my next holiday (whenever that is).
:)

I had issues with my Visa card getting declined in this fashion for months earlier this year, I had to edit and resave my Billing address details to make sure the postcode was in the postcode box.
Once that was updated never had a problem since, I'm assuming for card purchases it's verifying details to prevent unauthorised use and that PayPal uses its own internal process for verifying unauthorised use and doesn't rely on the Lego website details.

All year I was expecting to make a purschase during the VIP weekend. But the GWP didn't really excite me all that much and now the purchase of the EUR 169,99 Blacksmith (the only thing in stock I might consider to buy) doesn't qualify for the EUR 170 GWP limit... So, no purchase for me this year. I'll just wait for a proper discount at a retail store.

There are so many longterm sold out items at Lego.com at the moment that I can't help but wonder if Lego is struggling with the international shipping issues too. Might be interesting for the coming BF and Xmas.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Same problem as last year, that so much of the desirable stuff is out of stock (Titanic!). At the same time, there are plenty of ‘shelf warmers’ which just don’t seem to sell well and are discounted heavily at Amazon and other retailers. In my view, Lego needs to thin down its product range and make sure the desirable stuff is in stock. Titanic sells for >500 £/€/$ and sells out on the same day in Lego brand stores. The lack of stock of Titanic must be costing Lego serious money at the moment in the run up to Christmas.

As a longtime Lego collector and enthusiast, I've enjoyed these 'VIP Weekend' events just prior to BF. I usually submit multiple orders; yet this year the GWPs (while perhaps interesting to some people) are of no interest to me whatsoever. It would appear despite the errors and nothing showing up in my cart at the time, looking at the order today with the kind help from someone at Lego Customer Service we found the camera on the order marked simply with a SKU. I ordered a few parts from Bricks & Pieces which also appeared as a SKU, so it wasn't painfully apparent that the camera was eventually added when I reviewed the order on my own.

As a bonus, I figured out how to make the reply feature work… Don't use Firefox. Though either Privacy Badger or uBlock may be the real culprit.

By in Denmark,

The GWP is of no interest to me this time. But for det double ViP points I bougt 3x 40499.
just to flip them. The price in Denmark is DKK 350. I sold one last week for DKK 550. Because LEGO refuse to sell them online. Some people may think I sound greedy. But I tell you.the customer loved me, he was dying for one and had no way to get one. So I have decided to help a few other…

How is that?

I bought my 2 copies online. I won't be selling them, I want a super-sized sleigh with 8 reindeer.

It is now (and has been for quite a while) in stock online

I don’t know if it’s still available, but the camera code could still be redeemed by 8am Eastern. I saw some Disney Princess art prints were added, too (Elsa, Rapunzel, and one other).

@Yergs:
PayPal provides them with the shipping address, so I typically use that option just to save filling out the form. I’ve never had to respond to a text to use MC/Visa, so is that a UK thing?

@dontfeedthebrickster:
From talking to a customer service rep, the queueing system (which works great) has to be manually turned on, so they have to anticipate a meltdown _before_ it happens. It also doesn’t work at all on the Rewards Center, which is why they pushed back Coin 5 and Ulysses from their original scheduled release dates (BTW, has anyone heard anything new regarding their promise to rerelease all five coins before the end of this year?). And about half a year ago, they did say they were going to beef up the website infrastructure over the summer, so maybe they fixed some stuff.

"It's a Christmas miracle! I was able to redeem for the camera! A little lag, but LEGO has seemingly avoided past debacles. "

By offering no sales and $20 VIP set that very few want.

I was going to by the retiring soon Upside Down. $10 in LEGO points and $26 in cashback.

It's somehow 'temp OOS' within 15 minutes. I'm sure the retiring set will magically be in stock... on Monday."

Are you talking about Rakuten for your cash back? I couldn't get it to work last night. "

Rakuten seemed to have worked for me with my order last night. I have definitely had issues on big release days before, but last night was smooth for me all around.

By in United States,

Rakuten never works for me. I get a confirmation from them that I placed my order but Lego never supplies the rebate. I always end up having to file a claim with Rakuten & submit a copy of my Lego Confirmation to get my rebate.

Will the Vintage Camera be added to the Brickset database? Is it missing because it is not automatically picked up?
