City Advent Calendar - Day 2

Posted by ,

Yesterday we wasted no time in starting with microscale builds with a bus. As with last year, while I like the small builds, there wasn't a lot of holiday cheer to be found. Perhaps it will be different this year? In th meantime, let's look behind door number 2.

It's a car wash. I'm not sure if the brush is part of the scale model or just something of minifigure size to indicate what the build is for. As it is, I believe that the car wash is part of 60292 Town Centre.

With a generous assist from the box art, the car wash is scaled to fit the bus.

Nice build, but still not festive. There is still green with red, though!

I like the way the rotating brushes are done. Looks great for a mini build.

I think the orange brush is supposed to be a sign.

When I first saw it, it instantly reminded me of City Garage 4207

I had no idea that set even existed!

The green and red are the colors of Octan megacorporation.
This microbuild reminds me of my old 7993 Service Station. It was the biggest set I had and it was among my most favorite.

This is better than Star Wars' random parts weapons racks.

@jkb: No, the giants are useful for washing the top of the bus.

They're also useful for demolition works. That includes the unwanted ones. Like that time they stepped on my garage and garden =(.

This is definitely uplifted by the fact the bus can fit through

How cute. Definitely successful, and complementary to day 1 without requiring day 1 to work in the wider context of microbuilds.

The brush is there for the bus to rub against if it has an itch that it needs scratched.

I wouldn’t have guessed buses get washed by running them through car washes, but clearly I was wrong. LEGO wouldn’t lie to me!

I thought it was a bus stop, and the orange brush are the hours / maps stuff...

That’s how my toddler responded to todays build! The bus had to keep going past the brush to “get the tangles out.” Shrug, kid logic!

Love this car wash build and the fact that you can interact the bus with it. This is why I really like the City calendar, after a number of days you really start having a fun little micro city to display on your playmat.

@Blondie_Wan:
I don’t think real busses can go through real car washes, firstly because they’re too tall and wide. But another reason is that many car washes are arranged in such a way that a vehicle with such a long wheelbase couldn’t navigate the turns required to even enter in the first olace.
