City Advent Calendar - Day 10
Posted by MeganL,Yesterday's monster truck adds another vehicle to our collection of microscale builds for this calendar. So far we've only seen one building - the car wash from Day 2. It might be time to see another building behind today's door.
Another microscale it is. There's been a clear theme of minifigure sized accessories to identify vehicles and buildings - the arm cast for the ambulance, the handcuffs on the police vehicle. On today's building we have a syringe, which indicates that today's building is a hospital. The printed tile included can be considered to have a red cross on it, though the tile itself is not new and has been included in an interesting array of sets. As for the model itself, I believe it to be 60204 City Hospital from 2018.
Festive watch: at least the red is more striking in this build.

Introduce needles to children from a young age seems great
I don't mind microbuilds in AC, even really like them if they are done properly!
This... eh...
It looks OK and is identifiable as a hospital.
Did a search for the sets it could be based on, there are slim pickings for hospitals regardless of theme.
@DoonsterBuildsLego :
I agree it looks ok as a generic hospital, but I couldn't find one in a City set that even remotely looks like it, which is a pity; 60204 comes closest indeed, but even then you really have to stretch your imagination!
I don't get why city have a such a big focus on microbuilds
I would love for it to do something similar to what Friends is doing (also I consider them sister themes) - some festive builds to fill city builds with. Dunno how target demographic is liking it, bc this looks like no fun

I agree, I'm tempted to get a friend's one now if discounted because the builds are just good fun and pretty detailed. I think Star Wars popularized the idea of the micro builds, but it works with spaceships etc, especially when they are often £80+ sets. I still have my TIE Dagger and Millennium falcon built from last year's!

City calendars used be like this, with lots of little festive builds.
Last year was a disappointment with so many micro builds, and I didn't bother with this years' for the same reason.

I prefer seats/tables/kitchen oven style builds like the 2019 calendar.
With some creative parts use such microbuilds can be very interesting......this however just looks lazy and uninspired.
That's clearly a Covid vaccination centre.
Aww, I like this one.
I was disappointed this morning as the mini bag that I found under number 10 was the same as the adjacent one of day 4, so I find myself with two ambulances now and no hospital!! I contacted Lego today and they’ll send me all the needed parts to build the real thing, that seems to be a mini 60204 . Did anyone experience it too?
So, wait, if these mini models are based on existing sets, are they Friends sets or minifig sets?
@AustinPowers:
Can’t be. The girls are older in the present day, so this is a flashback calendar. Takes place pre-pandemic.
@baabswed:
Congrats on finding the uber-rare chase “mobile hospital”!
Has anyone gotten extra legos in the sets all together I can build another whole city with the amount we have gotten

Kids start getting shots as young as 6 months. By the time they're old enough for Lego, people are well familiar with them.
Could this be based on the hospital set 60330 coming out early 2022?

It seem to have have more resemblance towards the new model, yes. Also, creating a miniature of a set that is no longer available would not make much sense in my opinion... err... like the city bus in the first window...
Covid vaccination station?
I like this hospital build and in general love the microscale builds theme of the City Advent calendars. My little hospital area is taking shape with this building and the ambulance in the bottom right corner of the play mat. Need a helicopter now for the helipad.
