City Advent Calendar - Day 11

Posted by ,

Yesterday we had our second building of the calendar with a hospital. I expect we'll see another microscale model today, the only question will be if it will be building or a vehicle.....

I think not only is this a microscale themed calendar, it's a microscale vehicle calendar! Today's build is a helicopter. Based on the the colouring, it's a fire helicopter. Based on the placement of the clear blue pieces, I think this is a microscale version of the helicopter in 77944 Fire Station Headquarters.

Festive watch: at least with a fire helicopter, by its very nature it's red....

At least it's a bit different stuff than the vehicles with holes as wheels :D

Again: Eh...

Anyway, your guess is as good as mine but given the size of the thing and the sharp nose I'd say they were going for 60281

Rats! Beat me to it! But yes, I do enjoy this mini version way more than the actual set

Looks like the mini version uses just as many pieces! Looking at you “windscreen and half a fuselage” piece!

By in United States,

I definitely liked city advent calendars better before they became microbuild-based.

Microbuild done right! Simple but recognizable, and good use of parts. I like it!

That eye-gouging shade of yellow is almost enough to make one’s eyes bleed (also festively red). Show it to Spock and you might get your green.

The rotor's a bit small, they should have used a 1x4 tile on a hollow dot plate so they could center it. Shame there isn't a 1x5 tile, at least not now.

Today’s model was originally a drone before it got too close to Wanda Maximoff…

This is the reason I no longer buy the City Advent Calendar. Much preferred the festive holiday builds found in them a few years back.

Same here, I only ever got the 2018 and 2019 calendars as that's when I started collecting City.

2018 did have microbuilds but not as many compared to like 2020.

2019 was very minifig build focused which I loved.

By in United States,

I like to wait until the Advent Calendar series are at least a week in before deciding if I want any--wound up buying two last year (HP and SW, I think) and two this year (Friends and HP), most of them discounted at Amazon or Bricklink because the month was underway! In a year or two, the element of surprise will be back, too....
