Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 2
Posted by CapnRex101,LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendars generally commence with the title character. The printed Privet Drive sign which emerged yesterday was therefore surprising.
Harry might appear today instead...
75978 Diagon Alley introduced a unique Harry Potter minifigure, sporting his shabby attire from the beginning of The Philosopher's Stone. That minifigure returns here, albeit featuring a more generic double-sided head on this occasion. I think keeping something exclusive to the larger set, while making the torso more widely available, was probably sensible.
The chequered design across Harry's shirt corresponds with the source material and I like the prominent creases, creating an appropriate impression of these clothes being too big for Harry. As usual, the tousled hair piece also appears perfect, but no accessories are provided which is unusual. Presumably those will arrive in the coming days.
Overall - 4.5 - Given his prior exclusivity to the expensive 75978 Diagon Alley, this version of Harry Potter is a welcome addition to the Advent Calendar.

This would’ve made more sense as day 1 instead of the sign
That’s pretty cool including a torso from such a pricey set.

The sign being first makes sense as we have that first in the story, then we meet this Harry. However from an excitement point of view, yes day one was quite dull and having the minifig first would have been better
At this point he wouldn't have Hegwig or a wand... so I can see why they would come later.
It's great to see a very very early Harry from a play point of view
Hmm... Based on the fold-out base featuring numbered areas (to correspond with what is opened on those days in the advent calendar), along with the caption "Journey to Hogwarts" on the base itself, and also based on days 1 and 2 being what they are, I'm wondering if the progression through the 24 days will somewhat follow the events of the first movie.
For example, one of the first shots in the first movie is that of the sign "Privet Drive" (day 1); after the opening titles, we see the disheveled, neglected Harry Potter (day 2); etc., etc.
That'd be a clever way to parallel the movie/book itself, I would think.
@Wobette:
At this point, he didn’t have much besides what he’s wearing, and maybe a swift kick in the pants. And it was made clear that the clothes are technically still Dudley’s. Probably not the glasses, though.
Very glad to be able to get this fig
