Bro Thor is one of the most awful figures in my eyes because of that ugly 2 pieces gut print. It hgad a potetial to be really fun figure...
It also makes me sad there is so many Licenced figs...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I chose Shipwreck Survivor because he is the only minifigure has gotten his own habitant although it's no paradise. He is on a lonely island one short baseplate away from the ship wrecked Barracuda Bay and the waters between them are thick with sharks, crocs and mantas. His only companion is his soccer ball.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I chose Nearly Headless Nick since he's one of the best and brightest glow in the dark figures I've ever had. LEGO really nailed it here production-wise!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

The Survivor is my choice, it can easily be used (but this is true with nearly all minifigures) in a dramatic as well as in a grotesque context. And he is cooly surfing over licensing quicksands by being - but not being - a (Hollywood) castaway.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Gotta be the Centaur Warrior, for being something genuinely new and different and not just “ooh look slightly altered printing!”

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Bro Thor, but Tigger and Wile E Coyote were very close seconds.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Voted for the beekeeper, it's brilliantly designed with a great face print. It's charming and unique to date. It's going to be an unpopular opinion, I know, but almost all the MCU / Star Wars options are hugely over-designed, too busy almost too detailed. I'm anachronistic and prefer the older more abstracted designs for minifigures, because the minifigures themselves are abstracted from people.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'm sad that Party Llama didn't make the cut, but equally happy that the Squid Drummer (who was also one of Vidiyo's best contributions to the Lego-verse) almost got there.

Having said that, I still picked Sam Wilson's Captain America.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Centaur Warrior was my choice for the minifigure’s theme (fantasy CMF), printing and equine lower body part in a new colour for that piece. There have been previous centaurs, but the Centaur Warrior remains the only unlicensed one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

NRG Nya got my vote, out of those options; her patterning and detailing are quite exquisite, without being over-the-top, and definitely make her a worthy contender.

That said, I'm also happy that my nomination of Rocket Racer *almost* made it into the poll, even if he didn't quite get there!

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Going with the Centaur since I actually own it, but Nya is a close second. Woulda voted for Rocket Racer if he made the cut.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I chose Sam Wilson Captain America as the design and printing is absolutely insane!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I chose Gar Saxon because I love the face print and the helmet, they are fantastically designed and the colors really pop against the strict blue and grey of the Mandalorian Starfighter.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Marvin the Martian was just spot on target great. But the centaur was equally brilliant. Bought a bunch of em and made a whole tribe. Even used shipwreck dude parts.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Chief Mammatus of Ninjago's The Island theme is really snubbed here. Devastating. My vote is for NRG Nya now.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Picked Black Falcon Knight.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Captain Carter for me, with Sam Wilson a close second and the survivor being an equally close third.
There were so many great minifigures this year.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Really difficult choice, but had to go with Tigger as
Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of springs!
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

CAS555 Knight for me

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was really torn on this. Sam Wilson's Cap looks fab, I like the callbacks in Space Police Guy (NCS!) and Black Falcon Knight. I also liked the Mandalorian and Scarlet Witch.

But I had to choose Captain Carter. To see that uniform in minifig form made me beam from ear to ear. So well done.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The innocent charm of LEGO is non-licensed minifigures for me, so from the sadly few options available I chose Shipwreck Survivor, one of my two favourites from this CMF series along with the Beekeeper.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't believe that Pork Grind isn't in the poll. Best minifig of 2021.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This list feels a little limiting to be honest. My personal favorite would probably be Bugs Bunny.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't own a single one of these minifigs, so I'm going to scroll through all of the preview pictures and pick one based on 5 seconds of scrutiny.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

None of these would have made my top 20 list, not even by a wide margin. In the end I went with Nearly-headless Nick. I mean, it's a minifig based on a character played by John Cleese. Nuff said.

And now for something completely different...

I would have chosen almost any figure from the Vidiyo range, because as useless as the app was for my kids and myself, the creativity and execution of most of the figures was totally awesome.

Chief Mammatus is indeed a great minifigure. Not quite my favourite but in my top 5 or 6 which isn’t bad considering there were 849 minifigures/figures released this year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Of course, still voting for Sam Wilson as that was my nomination, but Throg with Loki still cracks me up. Throg facing off vs. Grogu is in one of my midi-mini MOCs.

Honestly a little surprised that none of the VIDIYO Minifigs made it into the final vote; even with all the criticism that line elicited, there were several great selections.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Which minifigure got the most nominations? Is this list in order?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I must admit that none of these stand out as above the norm for me.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Sam Wilson has every single technology for a minifigure: front and back printing, dual molded arms, arms printing, dual molded legs, leg printing (front and sideways), feet printing. Even his wing pieces have front and back printings!!

I love Shipwreck Survivor - I turned him into beach party Santa in a Christmas advent build for my kids. Such a great minifigure to develop a fun background for.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I went to the list of all 800+ before going to the article and picked out three good ones. Only the Dark Trooper appeared on the above list from my list, so I'll go with that one.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Scarlet Witch, all the way. I can't even remember the last time I was this chuffed over a minifig!

The list seems to be in order by theme.

Gravatar
By in France,

I have to vote castle for this IDEA085 black falcon soldier. But the 65435 armor piece is just horrible

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

The Beekeeper. No nonsense - actual proper job and not some scifi/fantasy/IP/meh.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

Space Police guy!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Tigger, so many good childhood memories with the character so seeing him represented perfectly in minifigure form makes me so happy and nostalgic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I struggled between Bo-Katan and Gar Saxon but ultimately chose Bo-Katan. All three minifigures from that set are incredible, but Bo-Katan was my favorite. Her armor is flawless.

Besides Saxon, my other favorite would be Scarlet Witch. One head wasn’t great, but the other looked perfect to me and I liked her uniform and hairpiece.

While she wasn’t a favorite to me, I definitely understand the affinity for Captain Carter. It’s a great minifigure and looks almost exactly like Hayley Atwell. It is much better than the version from 76201.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I chose Shipwreck Survivor because he is NOT a blasted licensed minifig. He's proudly sleeping underneath a palm tree in my Barracuda Bay set right now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ve been yearning to make a custom Marvin for several years (mainly the lack of a green Spartan helmet is what held me back), and there’s not some random Batman in the list, so that’s where my vote went.

@ecleme11:
I’m pretty sure this Tigger is hard ABS, with a tail made out of dense, unspringy rubber.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Although my collection is mainly focused on Star Wars, I wanted to go with a non-licensed theme for my vote. I've been getting back into Castle since Blacksmith was released and, judging by the 14 Black Falcon knights on my table, was tempted to vote for that minifig, but ultimately had to go with the Space Police figure. It's another fresh take on an original theme, but what really tipped the scales was the attention to great printing (even under the bulky armour!) AND the generous assortment of accessories included with him (not to mention all the spares that came in the bag!). When I first assembled it, I couldn't stop posing the figure in numerous variations based on the accessories, so I guess that needs to count for something...! :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Captain Carter would be a great figure if they didn't screw up the printing of the shield In 50% of the bags.

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Beekeeper!

Gravatar
By in United Arab Emirates,

Daredevil
Great to finally see the visually impaired legal professional alterego finally get the minifig treatment... even if without printed legs.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Castaway is a minifig I actively searched for, so my vote is obvious.

I think Robinsonade is a great setting for Lego sets.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Disappointing that Phantom Ruby didn't make it to the final round....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Since the series 21 alien didn't make it, I'll have to go space police

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wanted to vote for bugs, road runner and daffy but I do love my captain carter

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have Several tbh...
Sam Wilson Captain America, Peggy Carter, Wanda, Dr strange with Rubber cape, Daredevil, Punisher, Zombie hunter Spiderman, Ahsoka Tano, Mandalorian, Greef karga, Iron Man Mk 85.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s a shame the theme got so much hate because Vidiyo had some truly awesome minifigs that deserved to own this whole list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why is it we can see poll results of the theme poll but not the minifigure poll?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Based on many of these comments, I wonder if the "Best Minifigure" award nominations should be split into licensed and non-licensed categories in future years.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Best fig for me is Daredevil. Second, Wile E Coyote and third Sam Wilson Cap.

Best microfig: Throg!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Really, really like the centaur but Carter's details and likeness is what does it for me. Also isn't it funny how the Centaur's hairpiece isn't even connected in the official bricklink photo?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Daredevil has been a long time coming, and didn't disappoint. Great year for Marvel figs in general.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Our family has been pining for a Bo-Katan minifig for years, but I was ultimately a bit underwhelmed by what we received (first world problems, etc.). I also need to down-size her starfighter so that my daughter has an easier time playing with it.... I voted for the Ancient Warrior - as I noted in my review of the CMF, it is probably my favorite non-licensed minifig of all time!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Space Police Guy!!!

I actually like that minifig! It was a fun minifig on its own, but I also bought it to represent Vidiyo. A terrible theme, but it will be an important part in Legos history, and I want to be a part of that and own the "mascot" of the theme. Nothing came to mind when I thought of my favorite minifig, but this one could be it!

Gravatar
By in France,

This selection is incredible but my vote goes to NRG Nya : with or without her stand and "waves" the design is very good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nearly headless Nick, first he glows, that's so cool & then also, he does look like the actor as well.
Bro Thor is close though, due to the art work makes him look like an overweight Thor, no extra part, just artwork.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hoping to vote for 71031-8 as it is the best Spider-Man minifigure so far imo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Black falcon! It’s awesome when Lego brings back classics without overdoing it. I had to buy extra figs off Lego website as well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Has everyone just forgot that beautiful Shennec Fand Minifigure exists? I am really shocked to see it not make an appearance here - and I’m not even that much of a Star Wars fan!

Gravatar
By in France,

The Mandalorian, no contest!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the Castaway guy, but I chose the Aztec warrior because that's a sub-theme of CMF that I was happy to see return. Also the printing on that figure is gorgeous, and the little obsidian blades on the club is such a nice touch. Excellent for army builders

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everyone is awesome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Violin boy was my fave of CMF21. Vidiyo Hip-hop bunny wins the prize for creepiest.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nya NRG is simply stunning.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't yet have a lot of the star wars nominations, but the sam wilson cap is probably the most impressive official minifigure I've ever owned. really feels like a premium or even custom figure

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I was going to vote for Nearly Headless Nick but decided that he looked too much like a dead William Shakespeare. So, Captain Carter gets my vote - spunky British female (what more could you want?).

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Bo-Katan. Awaited, nicely done.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@The_Creator said:

I suspect Bricksetters care more about best minifigure than best theme, so theme is less prone to distortions from being able to see how well or badly each is doing. Artefacts can include non-voting due to despondency (‘my choice of minifigure has no chance of winning so why bother voting?’) and tactical voting (‘I can see from the running results that my top choice has no chance of winning so I’ll vote for the minifigure currently in second place in the hopes that the current leader doesn’t win’).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I chose Wile E. Coyote (Super Genius).
Why, you ask? Because even though he never gets Road Runner, Bugs Bunny, or even a break from being blow-up / maimed / flattened by his own inventions, he still tries to - time after time. Quite honestly, I'm not sure if that's the definition of insanity, or the very definition of our consumerism-driven lives + our chase for success in today's world.

(Ok, maybe it's both insanity and a metaphor at the same time. Plus it's always entertaining to see him get so close to, yet so far away from his goals.)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I love glowing in the dark, so my vote is for Nick.
But Nya is a great minifigure too! (especially with the water swirl for the legs)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nearly Headless Nick! I love the glow in the dark.

Gravatar
By in United States,

On principle, I'm voting for a non-licensed figure. They are all quite good. But for sheer simplicity I'm voting for beekeeper. Swapped heads for a female head and gave it to my wife who keeps bees as a hobby.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had to go with Scarlet Witch on this one. One of my favorite MCU characters and now she finally has the full costume and tiara. Bo-Katan would probably be my runner-up. Lots of other good choices though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Black Falcon because of... Castle theme! I miss castles, there are none to speak of in the US. When I was growing up in Europe, there seemed to be a castle/chateau/ruin around each village.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Echoing what others have said, Vidiyo had great components but the theme overall was poorly thought out (and the app was terrible) and that overshadowed some really nice minifigs. Although you did have to chance it with the blind boxes or pay over the odds for the beatboxes to get the figures.

I voted for beekeeper because it's clever and charming.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man, CFMS really sweeping the competition. The Ancient Warrior, Sam Wilson, Tigger, and Nya are all tempting, but my vote will remain consistent with Scarlet Witch.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Definitely, beekeeper because it is a unique character. Bees are important and Lego should release "The Bee Farm" set once to highlight this importance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@kwickbrick:
He _is_ an overweight Thor.

@Murdoch17:
One theory that has been floated is that each clip features a new clone of the original Wile E Coyote, given the task of testing various new Acme products. This is supported by the existence of a single episode where he’s wearing an Acme lab coat and speaking out loud to the TV viewers. So that would mean each incident really is fatal, and all the gadgets are actually faulty.

I was about to post a similar comment, as I agree with you.

I'm starting to wonder that there aren't really that few of us that were impressed with the vibrancy of the Vidiyo minifigures. Like others that have commented, I think there were several from the Vidiyo theme that were deserving of consideration in this "favourite minigure of 2021" poll. However, none were selected. (Not enough nominations, I'd gather.)

Just the same, I know that Vidiyo BeatBox sets were overpriced and the cardboard boxes of the Bandmates put off many AFOLs, as it became impossible to feel for distinctive parts within each box. And the marketing for Vidiyo was a miss.

But the Vidiyo Wave 2 sets were creative, almost a kindred follow-up to the mishmash of The LEGO Movie sets from a few years ago. And the Vidiyo minifigures were a colorful, change-up from what we typically have seen, so I wish I would have seen at least one (Metal Dragon, Shark Singer, Folk Fairy, Squid Drummer, Mermaid Violinist, Candy Ballerina, Party Llama, Dragon Guitarist, et al) to be nominated.

Perhaps the Vidiyo minifigures might have won "most underappreciated" or "most misunderstood" minifigures. :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted for the Aztec Warrior, but the fact that we have official minifigs for Gar Saxon and Bo-Katan Kryze just amazes me.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

ROCKET RACER NOOOO!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unhappy that not a single Vidiyo minifigure is on the shortlist to vote for - the Squid Drummer is one of the best but there are so many more fantastic figs - I assume people just passed over it because they didn’t like the theme - a bit like film awards critics passing over an outstanding performance in a film that’s otherwise mediocre.

But hey - no one can vote Classic Spaceman this year which is a win in itself!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Beskar Mando for the win, LEGO made his printing and details amazing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only one I have is Scarlet Witch, the figure is well-designed but I wouldn’t put her on this high of a pedestal IMO if it weren’t for the lack of accuracy I’d say Vision deserves the spot more. My favorite figure of the year is either one of the Queer Eye figures for accuracy and reusable parts or The Punisher for the sheer bravery needed for LEGO to make a figure of a character unanimously associated with horrific violence and whose symbol is primarily used for politics nowadays.
(Edit: Oh yeah, I also have two Beskar Mando figs. They're cool and we needed one from the start of the line but the lack of a face brings the figure down a lot for me).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I picked Scarlet Witch. Great minifigure and character!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why the disregard for minifigs based on licensed IP? The people designing those minifigs have to work just as hard, if not harder, to create a minifig that captures and conveys the look and personality of a character with which many people are already familiar and for which there are expectations to meet.

Is hating IP-based minifigs and sets the latest popular thing that’s cool to hate?

Glad I don’t do trends.

Kinda beats the point of "best minifigure" when you have multiple categories just so everyone can be a winner. These minifigs were all nominated by the same people that are now voting.

I certainly see your point and would definitely welcome a head-to-head of the top of each category to determine the single 'best' minifigure; having everyone be a winner isn't the goal. Many of the metrics that determine an outstanding licensed figure (accuracy, detail, character popularity/anticipation) are not the same as or applicable for an outstanding in-house IP figure. I understand the appeal of both and would enjoy getting to see a broader swath of the top-tier output of both types, especially from themes I don't follow closely. A split nomination would achieve that, the only real limiting factors being how many awards people would want to vote for and how concerned the Brickset staff are about clogging up the homepage with fan votes.

The Looney Tunes series had some nice ones, but a Tigger is a wonderful thing!

Yeah, did think about that as I was voting. I've only seen perhaps a third of the minifgs this year, but imo the best minifig for me comes down to the one I want to own the most. Made it very easy for me, but also means that I voted for probably the least appealing minifig - Daredevil. AFOLS tend to have a subset of themes that they gear towards, and perhaps having multiple themes as choices would open people up to other themes, but I think this would end up complicating things far too much, and fear it also then risks it turning into battle a of the themes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Without The Punisher as a choice, I went with Sam Wilson Captain America. The level of detailed printing on the figure and the wings plus the dual-molded arms and legs is outstanding.

Scarlet Witch is outstanding too; but if I had to choose between her and NRG Nya… it could go either way.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I was torn between the centaur warrior and the beekeeper, but voted for the latter, as it promotes a much more beneficial message.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There were lots of great choices here, but I went with the centaur warrior. The printing is great, and they really knocked it out of the park with the new mold for the horse body. I love that TLG has continued to make such amazing original designs for the CMF line!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@jjr_2009:
The centaur body mood was actually created for 75967. CMF was just a recolor. And unfortunately, the centaur body doesn’t have enough of a height difference where the minifig torso attaches to allow a quiver to be worn around the neck. Brickforge centaur bodies have the same problem.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@PurpleDave , True but you can attach a LEGO quiver to a stud on the equine back.

You mention the BrickForge centaur body part. If you don’t mind going non-purist, BrickWarriors does a quiver that, I believe (I don’t have one to hand), can be attached to a LEGO neck bracket (42446). I think you can angle the BW quiver in such a way that it sits across a human minifigure’s back with either LEGO’s or BF’s centaur lower body (but as I said, I don’t have them handy to check).

All, Apologies for the OT post :~S

Gravatar
By in United States,

i picked captain america falcon, such an amazing figure! i like the beekeeper and shipwreck surviver!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

There were two immediate ones that stood out for me when I saw the list: Captain America Sam Wilson and Gar Saxon. I chose Gar Saxon only because I'm more a Star Wars fan over Marvel.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have a deep Star Wars question if anyone has an answer...

If you look closely at every Mandalorian minifigure LEGO has released that would be a member of House Vizsla, except the Children of the Watch, has two horizontal lines on the left side of his/her chest plate. The Death Watch troopers have them, Bo-Katan and the Loyalist have them, and even Jango Fett (and Boba Fett who wears the same armor) has them. Fett likely served on the side of House Vizsla during the Mandalorian Civil Wars.

However, Saxon and the Super Commandos are all missing them. As members of the Shadow Collective, they wouldn’t necessarily be House Vizsla anymore. In fact, during Rebels, Saxon has his own House Saxon (alongside his brother). Coincidence?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

849 minifigs released in 2021, and THIS is the best of the best!?!
Really, most of them aren’t that exciting, or good! And I like nearly all LEGO themes, in-house and licensed!
I think last year’s finalists were far better, from memory.
I chose the Centaur Warrior in the end

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My favourite of the year is actually from Spring Lantern Festival 80107 - HOL233: Statue - Chinese New Year Lantern Festival - the red/trans red mini figure like a lantern.

I voted for Marvin the martian though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sam Wilson Captain America, easy choice, so much detail was put into that figure

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Zombie captain America didn't make the list, but that was my favourite :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@DeesjeNL:
I didn’t really care much about the Marvel CMFs, but I did buy one of him to add to my Hunger of Zombies. Still gotta get the Minecraft zombie babies and the Vidiyo zombie.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The Marvel figures are all What if stuff so they elicit no emotions from me.
The Ninjago stuff too
The CMFs are pretty nice but they are rarely worth the current asking price, so I can't seriously consider them unless they have at least one double molded headgear alongside either doublemolded legs or arms.
Star Wars figures look great but all of them have at least one huge mistake and I would only vote for a figure that is perfect as is. For example Gar Saxon has the wrong jetpack and no kama, Boba should have finally gotten olive green helmet and jetpack, Dark Trooper should have been brickbuilt or somehow received a design that makes him noticeably taller than regular figures. Bo-Katan is probably the least offender but still uses the regular Mandalorian helmet when there should have been a female variant for a long time.

My final choice had to be the Falcon Knight for the great realistic update to the old Falcon Knights, the leg print of the suits is just too great a detail.

This was a hard one. I'm a Marvel fan having collected the comics since I was 10. Falcon Captain America is AMAZING as is the Scarlet Witch minifig. Both have such comic accurate costumes. But I went with Daredevil. His printing IS great, but I voted for him because he was my favorite character and I've been dying to get a Lego mining of him for a while. I even contemplated the custom minifig market. But now I don't have to:)

I also voted for him because I hope LUG realizes there is a market for less popular superhero characters. Am I trying to game the system? Prolly. But I just love those obscure, lesser known minifigs. (I'm looking at you 2014 Task Master)

Excelsior!

Shipwreck survivor took my vote. Licensed minifigs are cool and all but I love that the survivors’s story leaves room for that old timey thing called imagination!

Missing: the mermaid from VIDIYO (e.g. 43114 ). The real choice. I'm tempted to get that set just for its minifigs, but I don't want to encourage VIDIYO. Just it had some great minifigs. Some of the other VIDIYO minifigs are great, and it'd be nice to see them outside of... that overpriced-for-the-app-stuff series.

(I also liked the previous year's Hidden Side stuff, but because they were fun sets. Again not for the "app stuff" I never used. Some fun minifigs were in those too.)
