Random part of the day: Design Plate, No. 1

I wonder how useful this piece will actually be. Can anything besides the charms it's intended to be used with connect to it? The handle is much too small to be a bar, so you can't attach any typical clips to it.

So beyond DOTS... maybe it could be used for greebling.

I just don't see much connecting to it for it to be a useful piece that will last for many years (though, I do hope I'm proven wrong!)

I'm definitely getting a few of these in 41946 Extra DOTS - Series 6, which unfortunately seems to have been delayed in my country along with the Boutique Hotel (F in the chat for local AFOLs), the Singapore skyline, and the Majestic Tiger. May pick some up in 41943 Gamer Bracelet with Charms as well.

It’s not going to handle much stress, so it might work for a minifig-scale crane, but not a functional Technic one.

It doesn't need to...the base of the piece will bear the brunt of the weight, not the loop. In any case, I was intending it being used along the length of the boom, not the end. The end of a Technic crane should use a pulley anyway.
