Full steam ahead for Bricktastic

Posted by ,

Bricktastic, the event organised by and run for the benefit of our favourite charity Fairy Bricks, is going ahead as planned at the end of February. It will be the first major LEGO event in the UK since March 2020, so is not to be missed.

The two-day event will be held at Manchester Central over the weekend of 26-27 February. Over one hundred AFOLs will be displaying their models and there will also be plenty of hands-on activities and shopping opportunities, making it the ideal day out for families and AFOLs alike.

I'm told that ticket sales have exceeded expectations so far and in fact some entry time slots on the Saturday are limited availability already, so if you're planning to attend buy your tickets as soon as you can.

Brickset is proud to be the main event sponsor, so we'll be bringing you more news in the run-up the event, and I will be there displaying GBCs.

Find out more about the event at Bricktastic.com. Tickets cost £13 each and are available from SeeTickets. I look forward to seeing you there!

I wish I felt anywhere near confident enough to go but it just feels like a guaranteed way to become infected. My risk would be compounded by the requirement of public transport to reach it.

I hope it's a success as Fairy Bricks deserve every penny they can raise.

Definitely glad the ticket interest is looking strong so far - sounds really exciting and I bet there will be some fantastic displays. Perhaps a little far for me in travel terms but I think I would consider attending this type of event generally as the year progresses, particularly as there hasn’t been any, anyway for around 2 years!

One can continue to live in fear, or just get on with life and enjoy it now while we can...

Meanwhile in Canada events are being cancelled into July....

I don't want to get too far into a discussion, because I come here to get away from the hysteria. I will just say that I am grateful that the content and comments on Brickset have been almost entirely pandemic free.

Hope everyone who is able to attend has a good time and lots of success for the charity.

Thanks. Might still be a little confused as to what it is though I now know what it stands for!

If you think of the type of ramshackle contraption where one thing keeps a chain of movement going onto another in old episodes of Tom & Jerry, it’s a bit like that, but continuous and cyclical instead. It’s effectively a mesmerising circuit of balls travelling around a track with different and increasingly unusual methods of movement used throughout - I really love them even though building one is a little too much for me and the bricks I have at my disposal!

I'll have a think. Three and a half hours each way by train and £100 though...

By in Denmark,

I really hope I can come. I'm absolutely sure the event will be 100% safe, no doubt about it. The trip to get there from here is a different matter, though.

We'll see!
