Snap, and cross!
And snap, and cross!
Just twelve more reps, you can do it everyone!

I feel like there’s a dart board involved with the committee that establishes official names for shapes and colors.

Looks like Mr. 2x4 is feeling a little saucy...

Snap and Cross sound like they’d be great henchmen names

The first version of this part (4730) released in 1985 Basic sets lacked the cross hole. It was available in 6 colors only spread around 64 sets.

In 1995 the revised version with cross hole (6232) was introduced, most likely to enable more stability for things like the side rockets on 6339.

The current version (42929) was introduced in 2010 and has thinner pin walls.

The cross hole is used for the Technic-axle goal supports in 3432 – and the pin doesn't really do much in that instance.

Don't really see the need for these as the circular brick with a cross is far more popular, and isn't a brick with a pin just original Technic, although I can see how the combination of both could be far more stronger?

A brick which can't decide whether its a male or female

@ambr:
Round bricks are round, and don’t blend in with a wall or boxy structure. They don’t have pins on the side, so you can’t build out sideways from them. This has a built-in pin, which works better for indexing than removable pins that don’t consistently stay in the same size (think Blacktron, with all the interchangeable vehicle sections).
