Uh oh. 13 motors. How’s that work again? First one to turn on is gonna die?

That...does not look like the same part. Is one of them a prototype?

I have to wonder how many of the 12 owners just go through and mark nearly everything owned. ...because the rest are insane people who have some crazy MOC where only a Motor, No. 13 that they have NEVER SEEN in any set will fit the bill.

@PDelahanty:
Or they noticed that it’s a unique motor and bought one to play around with, or to benchmark against other motors, or they took a chance that it might work better for a certain task than anything they previously owned. 10.5 years ago, I built my first Pizza Planet Truck, and I wanted it to be noticed at Brickworld Chicago. I designed a showroom-style turntable for it to sit on, and wanted it to be motorized so it’s rotate slowly, allowing you to view the truck from all sides. The only problem is I had zero experience with PF motors at the time. So, I bought 2x each of XLarge, Medium, and E-Motors so I could check them for speed, size, and ease of being incorporated into the turntable, plus have a spare of whatever I chose.

Available for 3 months and only 12 people have one. That PU line sure is selling well.

Isn't this the same motor that is used in 51515 Robot Inventor? It is not listed in the inventory of this set in Brickset hence such a low number for this part - 51515 is owned by 606 people and there are 4 motors in this set so 2424 motors are not counted by Brickset...

Edit: and it is apparently a recolor of 54696 used in Spike Prime sets. So in general it is far more used than it seems from this article ;)

Yes, the is the same medium angular motor used in 51515 which should be tagged powered up rather than power function? Never used in a technic set, as the larger angular motor 15 88017 is preferred in the Volvo Dumpster 42113 and Bulldozer 42131 .

If you're not aware: for database errors use the "contact us" form at the bottom of the page to report the problem & correction. @Huw is usually on the case pretty quickly to sort out discrepancies like this when reported.

'Power functions' is the name of the category of parts rather than anything to do with the sets it comes in.

That odd minfig part is clearly categorised incorrectly, though, so I will change it.

@Huw:
But the point is, Power Functions is a retired line of products, which has been replaced by Powered Up. The two sets of electronic parts aren’t even compatible with each other.

I've just re-imported the inventory for the set that contains it to check, and the category assigned by LEGO is indeed 'power functions'

Weird. Evidentially, the people who manage set inventories aren’t on the same page as the people in marketing. If you “Shop by Theme”, there are separate entries for Power Functions and Powered Up. PF only has a power converter listed at this point, while PU has hubs, motors, sensors, a remote, and several sets that either include, or are designed to be converted to use, PU gear. The set boxes have a new “PoweredUp” logo, and no mention of PF that I’ve ever noticed. But if that’s built in to their system, I guess the only way people will be able to easily separate out all the PU stuff and only get proper PF items is to add a made-up tag and assign it to the old PF stuff. And that sounds dangerously close to work.
