Technically a fruit. Might be number 3 but it's number 1 in my heart.
I remember when before this part was introduced, the Stranger Things set 75810 had to use the jack-o-lantern piece instead. It was in the back of the van in the set, and cleverly positioned so you couldn't see the face from most angles. It also needed a lot of space around it, because unlike this new version, its footprint was a bit bigger than 2x2 studs since it was designed as a minifig headgear.

This piece was in the Stranger Things set though.
Ah, Vegetable No. 3. One of your 5 a day!
Oddly, this doesn’t really look like a pumpkin without the green stem. Odd, because none of the minifig head pumpkins ever had that problem. Maybe it’s because they were usually jack-o-lanterns, while this has been a red paper lantern.

Happy Halloween!!!
Wait a minute...
Didn't know we had a foodstuff category...
Vegetable No. 3 pie is my favorite thanksgiving desert. :)

Aw man, I just checked and you're right. My memory must have come from when I recreated that set in LDD, which didn't have the pumpkin element. Guess that teaches me to double check instead of relying on memory. :P
I’m very hungreh
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
Oh, no, wait, it’s just “A” pumpkin, never mind!

It’s the Great Vegetable Number Three, Charlie Brown!
NO
I DON’T WANT THAT
Anyone else have a sudden urge to play Agricola?
Curiosity had me wondering what vegetable no. 2 was, so I checked.
It's appropriate.
Good gourd
Description mentions axle hole so could four pumpkins be used in a space buggy as balloon wheels?

You've reminded me of this element:

I like to carve Vegetable, No. 3 at Halloween.
The last of the really great vegetables.
Before either of the 'real' pumpkin parts was released, the Lego LotR/Hobbit games from TT showed part number 2907 in an unreleased orange version together with the carrot stalk as a pumpkin replacement in various scenes.
Also, way before this Studios (and I think HP) used a printed minifig head as pumpkin.
‘Mango number five’
Apple three
I got a lot more of those in red as lanterns.
80032 : Chang'e Moon Cake Factory uses an orange one as a lantern as well.
Would be nice to see them in some Xtra 40465 : Food and 40309 : Food Accessories have apples carrots grapes cherries but no pumpkins.
Maybe a "Farm Accesoires, with hay bale, egg, pumpkin and a corn piece (rumoured in a 2022 set)
For some reason I just love LEGO pumpkins!! Whether it's the Jack-o-lantern headgear pumpkin, this one, or simply an orange minifig head (printed or unprinted), I'll take them all!

I've used the orange Mars Mission wheels to represent "punks" before.

I'm playing an online game of it now, and I thought of it too. That and the Cinderella polybag 30554.

@BillingsBrix:
We do. Usually we just call it “Things that are more expensive than in real life”, though.
@Atuin:
Besides this regular pumpkin, there’s a Duplo pumpkin, a molded Jack-o-Lantern, two candy buckets with Jack-o-Lantern print, a Minecraft Jack-Lantern (I think they got that from Japan), six minifig heads with Jack-o-Lantern print, and one flaming minifig head with Jack-o-Lantern print. Of them all, this one is the best:

For some reason I was thinking there was also a minifig head with uncarved pumpkin print, but maybe I’m just thinking of the pineapple head. I don’t know why they made so many different prints, or why they never actually used the “gyro-ball” in orange (unless it was either color-locked or the mold had been retired).
...but what are Vegetables No 1 and No 2?

I thought they made that part up for the LEGO games’ pumpkin at one point, honestly, I just couldn’t find it anywhere.

Looks like 1 is part of Chip's acorn, and 2 is Neville Longbottom's mandrake, in the Disney and HP CMF series.
@tne328:
Ironically, the mold was created for Neville’s baby mandrake, but you have to first mold an unprinted version before you can print it. It got used as an acorn because it sorta worked. And then it came full circle and got used as a mandrake again in the Hufflepuff book.
