LEGO to open Brand store in Dublin

Posted by ,

LEGO is set to open the first brand store in Ireland later this year. The shop will be in Dublin's Grafton Street.

An article at rte.ie claims that the company has been on the lookout for a decent spot in the city for a while, so when the former Topman store at 41 Grafton Street became available, they leapt at the chance.

Will this be your local store? What does it mean to you to finally be getting brand store in the country?

Thanks to dpa1 for the news.

By in Ireland,

Looking forward to this. I've never been in an actual Lego store and always read and hear about the pick a brick wall and build a minifigure, and various polybags and things that just never appear in other shops in Ireland.

By in Ireland,

Fantastic news! Some of my best experiences on holiday have involved a visit to the LEGO store, the staff are always so helpful and the displays are impressive. To have one now finally opening on your doorstep almost feels surreal!

By in Ireland,

Good spot, right across the street from the Disney Store. Hopefully they got a good deal on the rent.

I know Grafton Street just because it's in one of my favourite Script songs.

About time. Been a while since I've had a good reason to go into town. Promised myself I'd cut down on Lego spending this year but that just ain't gonna happen

@huw can you let us know why the Amazon link in the Buy section of the website changed? It used to open a page that would allow the user to check Amazon.com for prices in the US but now its no longer the case. It shows a grid of countries and you can select US, however the prices are in Euros and don't show USD. Its very clunky too, the old version used to be great to quickly find 20% off deals. Is it coming back?

@kkoster79 , click on the flag top right corner and change your country to USA, see if that helps.

It should be much less clunky than the old version. What device are you using?

I think that this will be good for people in Ireland who don't have a LEGO store near them! Have fun guys!!

Amazing to me that cities of this size don't even have an official Lego store. There are five here in the Chicago area.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

@quiddete: Cities? Countries! Chicago Metropolitan Area has twice the population of Ireland.
Anyway, really happy. Looong overdue. Finally we no longer need a ferry or airplane to visit a Lego store!

I heard a rumour they will be releasing some new sets later in the year, proving the well really has run dry.

Thank you so much! My country is set to Puerto Rico. Sometimes part of the USA and a lot of times a forgotten island in the Caribbean... :-| That seemed to do the trick. However up until a week ago Puerto Rico worked the same as the USA flag... thank you for the fix! Oh I am using chrome on my computer and safari on my tablet/phone and across the board it changed on all devices.

Everytime I've been onto customer service I've always asked about when they're going to open an Irish store - thank God I can finally stop asking! Although I'll continue to ask when its opening as I'll have to book the night before off so I can drive up to Dublin!

AT LAST! Not exactly local as I'm in Belfast, and it might take a bit of comparison to see whether it's better value to buy from Lego.com in pounds, or the Dublin store in euros, but I'm sure that when I eventually get to the stage of visiting Dublin again, this will be a must visit - I've never been to an official Lego store before!
