Does “bowed” refer to how the anti-studs look a little like a bow tie?

@PurpleDave Most instances of this part are opaque. Maybe if you bow down to 19 degrees you can see better?

The awkward short lived version of this part between the original 1999 mold and the current version with a clip attachment that debuted in 2011. I like the clip version much better.

The "Bow" is a different way to refer to something that has an arc or curve that is vertical from what I've gathered. Think Rainbow. So this is a bow that also includes a 19 degree angle that makes this bow more conical in one section. It's got to be a European, or at least a British English thing because over here in the US, we just say it's a cockpit windshield that's rounded. We don't really talk all fancy like.

"The front is really bad. Glad this got a redesign."

This WAS the redesign. Original was best.

Now they have a handle.

I have a bunch of the original. Still my favorite. I really disliked this version.

I like the first version. Its shape was immaculate with nothing to disturb the eye at the front.

I remember the white version of this being the cover for the "trunk" of the star wars Freco speeder bike.

Yup. Windscreens and other see-through elements become really interesting when they become available in opaque colours.

@jkb:
And opaque parts can be just as interesting (sometimes more) when they start appearing in transparent colors. Especially clear.

Ah yes, the objectively worst variant of this part. You get neither the streamlined tip of the original, nor the hinge functionality of the current version. Sure, it has better clutch power, but as a MOCist I couldn't care less about that.
