We're back!
Posted by Huw,
Apologies for the unprecedented server outage which was due to a problem with the RAID disk array.
It looks as if it's been fixed now. The server is quite old, so we'll be looking to upgrade it to prevent a repeat.

Glad everything is back up and running again! It was really weird to not have my daily Brickset check :)
Phew, you’re back!
Whilst I no longer partake in social media I found myself being super antsy at not being able to update and catalogue my treasure! Phewww, we survived the outage.
Hooray!

Haven't reset the clock yet I see...
Why doesn't Themes work any longer on my iPad, it hasn't for some time now! It just says server error try later but it never works !
Please don't raid disk rays. It looks like it doesn't work.
And here I thought Putin was angry after seeing the new mario set he couldn't buy.
Welcome back
I didn't realise how often I checked Brickset until it was gone!
Could you outsource the servering to a company that guarantees uptime and has backup servers and that sort of thing?
Great to have you back!!

I agree! It's become a daily habit for me to hop on to see if there are any new reviews/updates!
Very happy to be back again! :)
Great job :) thx for your work !
Nice, keep up the good work!
Good to here! I hate having to go to alternate sites for set info unless I need to 8-)
So.. are we getting back missed random set and parts articles? :-)

Ditto that! You really are doing a fantastic job. This is a great site, not just for database, latest reviews and news, but also for some very interesting articles. Keep up the good work.
Missed you!! Glad you're back guys.
Great you are back, thanks for all you do to support our addiction!
I didn't even panic. Honest.
Time to move to the cloud Huw!

Being back proves how precious this site is, especially for my inventory!!!
I'm glad Brickset is okay again. It was getting worrying how long it was down. I was getting restless.
The nightmare is finally over
Glad to see Brickset back. I've missed Random Set of the Day. In the insomnia times of 2 o'clock in the morning I click on it with the excitement of will it be My Dad or Jack Stone or Bionicle or just some bad clunky nonsense that we can all laugh at. And of course every so often it's Fabuland which makes me very happy.
So happy you fixed it. i found out that i am hooked on you.
Phew... thought you'd outsourced IT Support to Lego.com!
Good to see you back... it doesn't feel like an orders really arrived until it's been entered on Brickset.com!

Just in time — I just got home after a successful if quiet (in a good way!) launch of our local brick convention for this year, wherein I not only displayed my MOC but also acquired lightly used copies of 41689 and 60291 for 50% off MSRP, a decent deal! Will be rebuilding the former and parting out the latter.
It's so good to see the site this morning. I really appreciate the service that you and your team provide, Huw! It's a big part of my enjoyment with the Lego hobby.
I want my money back.
@Huw: Are you a hardware enthousiast? I would have guessed Brickset was hosted in the cloud, due to it being difficult to provide continuity cost-effectively for such a 'small' site. Or is it more a case of "if it ain't broke..."?
Welcome back! :D
First world problems, but still glad to have it back.
If the expensive will be significant, I'd have no problems contributing some cash to help. I'd wager lots of us would.
I’m glad it was just a server outage.
Amazed at how people in the comments don't realize the cloud is just someone else's computer ...
@sid3windr:
That’s true, but it’s usually a giant corporation running it, with redundant backups, so outages should be rare, in theory, and server upgrades don’t shut things down for the duration.
Pheeeewwww!!! Needed by brickset fix... Or I would actually get some work done.
Happy its back up.
Glad everything’s back up and running. Thank you for all you do for us. (Do I really check in that many times in a day!?!)
Well, at least if showed my addiction to this site.

Same here! I need my daily Brickset fix... this is my most frequented site along with Eurobricks!
Longest two days of my life. I was lost and empty, as if my life no longer had any meaning. Great to have you back.

Hear, hear. We are all lucky to have Brickset in our lives. Let’s keep the comments positive!!!
Glad to have you back.
I feel your pain: I had a RAID drive failure in January, but at least it forced me to finally move over to ZFS. There are still plenty of tweaks to be done but it is so nice to hear the periodic chunter as zrep kicks in to replicate every little change over to the backup servers.
So awesome to have the site back. It’s my daily number one destination. Had no idea how much I needed it, or love it.
I do now though. It’s good to be reminded how much you appreciate things. This is such a great website. Totally free, too, this incredible database. This tool for our collections.
Thanks for everything, Brickset.
They were dark times.
Glad you are back!!!
Like many others, I didn't realize how much I reference this site. Multiple times a day! So glad it's back.
This is wonderful news! Is there any update on when the mobile version - the Brick by Brick App will be working again? I use that every time I go shopping for Lego to check my collection and to make sure I'm not buying a duplicate that I don't need. I haven't been able to get the App to work for more than a month and it was the App I used the most of anything on my phone. Just wondering. Thank you so much for all the great work you do for the Lego community.

I'm new to this site and spent the last few weeks adding 229 sets ... was worried it was all for nothing :-) Thanks for the info and i'm glad you're back !
Welcome back - my World wasn't quite as real without you.
Glad you all are back. Thanks for all you do. I never realized how much I visited the site until I couldn’t. This site was a huge boost to me restart collecting. I couldn’t imagine keeping track of my collection without. I wish there was a site like this for Star Wars books that I also collect.
Sounds like you were attacked by some Rebel scum. They can never defeat the Empi... I mean Brickset.
@mattb3033: I know that feeling of wanting a Brickset-style database for another collection; I'd love to have one for my Transformers collection.
@Huw,
If you ever needed any survey as to the appreciation level of your site; you got it now; and no need to compile the data. One of the very few posts on this site where pretty much everyone agrees on!
As echoed by many, I too surprised myself as 'checking on' the site several times a day (probably more this time around because it was not working as usual - or at all) but I believe I must be checking at least 3-4 times a day.
@gatorbug6
"I felt a great disturbance in the Interwebz, as if millions of AFOL voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened."
I really liked that quote adaptation - it accurately described the feeling. Fortunately for all involved, Brickset was not silenced permanently (it was just a RAID!).
Once again, thanks for the outstanding services.

Thank you for the laugh. LOL :D
@huw, please reassure my now nervous state that you have good backups. If we ever lost Brickset I'd probably huddle up under the duvet for a week at least.

I had a darker concern, that perhaps you were reliant upon hardware hosted in either Russia - and thus were locked out - or Ukraine. Glad to hear you're back up!
Turns out Brickset is like air: your only notice how dependent you are, once it is no longer available :)
