Posted by ,

Double VIP points are available on LEGO.com in the US and Canada, running until March 14th.

The promotional 40530 Jane Goodall Tribute is available too, so now might be a good time to purchase any March sets you are considering.

By in Poland,

I know life isn't always fair. But LEGO is declaring to be equal for everyone etc. but it doesn't seem that we (as customers) are getting the same threat.
In Europe we had double points when there was no GWP and most sets were out of stock!
That's not nice.

Darn. Put my order on on Thursday. Got too worried about the set in question going out of stock again

By in Netherlands,

Thank goodness!

I didn't read it properly and thought it also applied to Europe. This was tempting me to buy more Lego again, even though I promissed myself I wouldn't.

Thank you Lego for only doing this in North America!

@Briczk :
About a decade ago, if you attended an AFOL convention in NA, and it was near a LEGO Store, you could get a 20% or 30% discount for the duration. Europeans complained because they didn’t get this discount, and it got cancelled out of “fairness”. NA and Oceania have both had GWP promos cancelled or delayed due to shipping delays making stock unavailable at the intended start of the promo. In at least one instance, I think the GWP was cancelled after people had started purchasing the qualifying set.

For several summer themes, NA has to wait until August, while EU gets new releases in June or July. This is not done due to shipping delays (it predates the pandemic), but because NA retailers probably don’t want stuff parked on shelves for 1-2 full months while kids are spending a lot of time outdoors during the summer.

And in the other direction, all of the US and all of Canada have sets and promos launch across several time zones on Eastern’s schedule. In Europe, individual countries get their own launch times based on time zones, but often share warehouses with countries in earlier time zones. This resulted in the UK not getting access to one of the VIP collectible coins until half an hour before the codes ran out. And even though they are in the same time zone, I think it was Portugal who got delayed an extra hour and didn’t get in until half an hour after the codes were all gone.

SDCC 2020 sets and minifigs had already shipped to California by the time the event was cancelled, and rather than destroy the product, it was released through various outlets, usually being restricted to just the US, or sometimes including Canada. One set only was reportedly sold to a handful of European nations.

Polybags get especially messy. Many regular polybags are not sold in Europe, but I had to buy two Toy Story polybags from the UK because I never found them here. There are truckloads of foil packs with IP-based minifigs or SW minis that I’ve never seen sold in rhe US, so that’s a 2-way street (but people only complain about the oncoming traffic).

So, fair’s fair, but it’s fairly common that “fair” is left out of the equation.

Oh look, LEGO is yet again doing regional exclusive things. This time, North America gets double VIP points again AND a GWP whereas literally no other region gets it.
Thus proving they're a bunch of hypocrites.
WHAT a shock...

Thought I'd have to wait longer before the confluence of double points and an available 10294, but not only is it still available to backorder (and get 2x points) online, I just came home with one from my local store where they just got replenished this week!

I was really hoping the double points would apply to the special Mario Day bundles as well, but it seems not

So it doesnt? Was trying to figure that out. Is cheaper to buy the bundle, buy individually or wait for a sale at retail.

Pulled the trigger on a Mos Eisley Cantina. 4500 points and a "girl in swamp with monkeys" set, not bad.

May I ask where you are? The Nashville store seems to never have it...

Rochester, NY. Our store (Eastview) looked to be fully stocked on all the hard-to-find stuff this morning. Fortunate timing, for sure!

Woohoo, and actual promotion here in the US where they've actually had stuff in stock to buy! Placed an order for Boutique Hotel!

For those salty that the US is getting double points + Jane Goodall at the same time, bear in the mind the past few promotions we've had to skip on for the most part, because the US has had no stock due to shipping issues. So all is fair as far as I'm concerned. :)

By in Canada,

Managed to get the tribute set and double vip points but as 'by magic' the sets I was interested in: 75192 and 75978 disappeared from stock. That said, 75313, 75290 and 71741 are all available with 10294 on backorder. It's been a while since most sets are available; with double VIP points and a reasonably good gwp on top, this is as good as it gets for buying time.

@djcbs:
You never, ever get double points? Like ever? They never said all offers would be simultaneous worldwide. They also never said that policy applied to sales. Last time I checked, Double Points is not a set you can take home and build.

@BrickC137:
Points don’t always post the way they show up in the cart. They only give you points for actual money spent, but you don’t see deductions for using VIP rebate codes until later. They give you a number based on the currency left of the decimal, so you probably pick up extra points for anything right of the decimal. And double points may not display correctly in your cart. If you’re ever in doubt, call and ask them directly.

@Davian:
@LegoFan123456:
If you’re having that much trouble finding sets, find out when your store receives shipments (days change throughout the year, especially leading into Christmas). The day before a shipment arrives, they should have a list of what’s arriving, and can tell you if a set you’re looking for will be available, and in what quantity. The day it arrives, if it’s not launching that day, you can call and reserve as soon as they open (unless they have customers in waiting at the door who want the same thing). You’ll have until close the following day to show up and buy it.

I'm not the one who keeps talking about "equality" and BS like that. LEGO is.
And what we see here is, AGAIN, North America being given preferencial treatment. It got Double VIP points at the end of February and AGAIN now, with a GWP included. In the meantime, the rest of the World only got the end of February period when there was ZERO promotions running at all.
Which means, again, North Americans got a better deal.
So yeah, we have all right in the World to call out LEGO for, again, being hypocritical scumbags towards customers outside of North America.
This is made even worse when you consider many countries don't even have access to physical LEGO stores AT ALL so our experience with LEGO is even less priviledged.

If you're getting this upset over plastic building blocks, then maybe Lego isn't the right hobby for you. Maybe you should start collecting swords or something instead

By in United States,

I've noticed since late February the North American Midwestern orders no longer ship via FedEx, which was often taking 14 to 18 days to ship. Now they're shipping via a new service I've never heard of "LaserShip" which has the worst tracking interface I have ever seen. Not sure if it's better yet. My order from March 5th still hasn't moved, but another order from March 2 arrived on March 7th.

Wondering what the heck is going on with FedEx lately. They've slipped quite a bit.

I don't know where you get your misinformation but North America DID NOT get double points at the end of February like the rest of the world did so where's the preferential treatment? Our double points offer was postponed until this weekend so that there might actually be some sets available in stock for us to purchase. And many of us even here do not actually have a local store we can visit. It just so happens that the Jane Goodall GWP is still available at the same time which is rare these days.
A wise man once told me there is no such thing as fair in this world.

They said no more regional exclusive _sets_. Every time event exclusives come up, people throw a fit about it, even though it’s not covered under that policy. Events like this aren’t covered either. Neither are LEGO Stores.

Nothing says entitled like complaining bitterly about free stuff. You literally sound like a couple of 4-year-olds fighting over who got the bigger scoop of ice cream.

By in United States,

Pro tip: Lego offers double points in the USA every year in mid March, early July, mid October, late November, maybe Black Friday, and early December. They have followed this schedule like clockwork since I started keeping track in 2016 (cancelling it only for COVIDin 7/20 and 12/20, and shortages in 12/21).

To easily get these deals: Set a calendar reminder at the first of these months, repeating yearly, to watch for double points. When they happen, buy what you need. Don't buy from Lego without double points and/or a GWP. This schedule makes it easy.

agreed. I have been saving up for the 2021 Harry Potter chamber of secrets, and the store that I wanted to get it from was sold out. Also, It has been sold out online for ages. "

May I ask if the chamber of secrets is availabe at normal resellers in your country? In Germany we have a RRP of 140 but in stores (not LEGO) we get it sometimes below 100. So even with double VIP and GWP I (personally) would never buy such a set in a LEGO store.

Well if it makes you feel any better, in the US we get double VIP points when Bricks and Pieces is shut down while transitioning to the new PaB format. Like you said life isn't always fair, and as someone who tries to time large part orders for double VIP events this one stung

Be Careful with Lasership. Amazon uses them here a lot as a "last mile" delivery service. 99% of my shipping issues come from Lasership (or LS). Most often it is just scanning items as delivered when they are not, which is only slightly disappointing, but I have had them lose packages occasionally as well, luckily only low value stuff so far that was replaced by Amazon with no question. I'd recommend paying extra attention to shipments coming via LS

By in United States,

@THEMIDDLEBRICK:
I get Last Mile from USPS, which has its own set of problems (I’ve had about half a dozen LEGO shipments get soaked by rain), so hopefully I’ll never see anything arrive by Lasership.

Pretty sure that someone noted this before, but North America did not enjoy a double points promotion in February. It was originally scheduled then but moved to March on account of supply issues. So maybe you can feel better about that.

Couldn’t have said it better myself lol xx I was wide eyed thinking ‘harsh’! Can a true lover of Lego really think of the company that feeds our obsession, I mean hobby as Scumbags??? X Chill pills all round people xx

It's not fair that the rest of the world got double points while Bricks and Pieces worked. How dare LEGO change the system in the USA and have it down when there are double points! That's hypocritical, LEGO scumbags towards customers in the USA.

Before whining like you are a 2 year old who wants a candy bar, maybe know your facts. We didn't get double points in February, We got it now, while the Bricks and Pieces system is down.

Europe gets LEGO magazines that come with.... exclusive sets / figures. That's not fair! How dare LEGO does that. Those scumbags!]]

So glad I found this post, ill so can’t sleep 4am in UK and I honestly haven’t laughed this much for ages at the great come backs lmao x I love my Lego too much to complain about anything so trivial & it’s anyway it’s afol day on Saturday so have my list all ready & my points worked out plus a stand by friend if I’m still not well enough to get out xx Happy days xx
