If you have the older ones, you know why LEGO added that bracing on the side! Hahaha!

Not from personal experience, since I don’t recall owning many of the larger flat panels as a kid. Just from what structure they added, I can guess what they added it to prevent, though.

I'm curious but also lost, what bracing do you mean and what do the older ones look like?

I'd say something clever about this part, but I've hit a bit of a... oh, what's the word?

Eh, never mind.

The older wall pieces like this, especially the 1x2x2 and the 1x4x3, didn’t have the additional bracing that runs vertically on the sides. If you line up several of these parts today the bracing will form what looks like vertical ribbing on the inside of the parts.

However the older elements just had a smooth interior. The reason for the additional bracing was because these parts seemed to come out of the mold with the slightest bend to them - no matter the color or transparency. I never had any break or crack, but there was a lot of extra fiddling with them if you wanted to line them up and connect them across the tops.

The newer part behaves exactly like a brick. No fine tuning required.

By in Chad,

This would look better with some classic airplane windows in it, like the most beautiful passenger jet of all time 6392

@PeterPan:
Wait, are you referring to 7628 or 40450, and is it hiding behind the coffin with wings?
