'Round Brick 1X1 "No 1000"'
Was the numbering purely coincidental, or did someone rig things because of what it’s for?
Hmm actually it seems alot of parts are named
"No 1000", especially silver/metallic parts.
That’s a lotta Ecto-1s. “Every brick counts,” so I can say I contributed.
We've sure come a long way since "Egg no. 2".

That's 30,089 copies of the set, and that's just the people that reported it on Brickset, there's plenty more still unaccounted for.
@MCLegoboy: not to mention the people (like myself) who don't record when they have multiple copies of a set.
The superior model of the Round Brick 1X1 "No 800". Truly a revolutionary piece for the time.
Round... brick. Why not cylinder '1000'?

What are the differences from this part to the „regular“ variant which is in nearly every set?
When TLG started to use "No. X" on parts, it was usely meant for printed patterns. Somewhat around 2010 or so they began to use this for other 'surface treatings' as well and certain numbers were reserved for rather common types of coating, this one being reserved for the drum-lacquered silver version of a part.
There are others for chrome silver, chrome gold, drum lacquered gold etc. as well I think ('No. 1100' for example).
EDIT:
Also don't forget, that the regular version of this part (design no. 3062) came in at least 3 variants in the older days:
1) Solid Stud without Underside Notch/Lip (ca. 1956-1965)
2) Solid Stud with Underside Notch/Lip (ca. 1965-1980)
3) Hollow Stud with Underside Notch/Lip (1980-Today)
A realise this is a specific version of the design, but the overall piece is one of Lego’s stalwarts and it’s nice to see it pop up
