For when you're ashamed of your studs!

Was this only introduced in 2013? That can't be right, we've had tiles for forever, and a round 1x1 is a pretty basic spin on that concept.

This is only the glow in the dark one.

Interestingly, the 1x1 round tile was first used in 2012, following its surprise appearance in a 2011 holiday vignette.

I still remember how excited I was when Lego introduced this piece; I'd been wanting them to do a 1x1 Round for years.

When I slowly started to get back into LEGO over the past 4 or 5 years, the round 1/1 (first introduced to me by Mixels) were some of the more interesting parts they've introduced.

I need to pick up a few bags of the DOTS accessory tiles. In addition to these awesome glow-in-the-dark parts, there are also some really interesting prints.

These are already ten years old? Dang I thought they were much younger than that.

How can this be right? That's only the tiles in 7 World Map sets.

Different part/mould.

@Wavelength:
I think they had an issue with these splitting in half, which was solved by changing to a different plastic, which needed a new mold due to differences in shrink factor and clutch. The same thing happened with cheese wedges.

By in Poland,

I guess it's a useful part, but I don't like how Lego replaces normal studded round plates with this.

Take a look at cars. In the past they were studded so you could attach anything to a car. Even if it didn't make any sense, it was an outlet for imagination. Now, cars are smoothed out with tiles so you can't attach anything. These tiles are now being used as headlights instead of round plates, so the front fascia in cars is entirely smoothed out.

Captain Picard named this one I guess:
“Tile, 1x1, round.”

I would have thought the total would be much higher?

I wanted this piece for years! I once tried to modify a 1x1 stud to get close…

@Arnoldos:
I’ve combined this with a black Apollo stud to give cameras a lens that not only has no external stud, but doesn’t visibly have any stud, just because doing the same directly on the camera doesn’t work. It’s a personal choice, but realize there are many of us who want to smooth out as many surfaces as possible so it looks more like art and less like toy.

Scene 1, Int. Lego HQ:

PERSON 1: "Hey, I know lots of people want us to revive the Space and Castle lines...but hear me out... Let's do a whole theme based around the Flat Tile 1x1, round bricks!"

PERSON 2: "I like your moxie, kid. Do it!"

END CREDITS

I still associate these with 2012... CHI orbs and Ninjago snake staff decorations, my childhood

This is specifically the glow-in-the-dark version, which must use a slightly different mould due to the plastics involved, and has only been in three sets to date. The alternate versions of the part likely have much higher totals.
