Brickbuilt: a LEGO fan event in Sydney

Posted by ,

Here's news of an event taking place on 7-8 May at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia, that's being organised by SydLUG to raise money for Sydney's children's hospitals:

LEGO stars will replace footy players at Accor Stadium as the venue hosts the city’s biggest LEGO bricks display at a unique event that will inspire kids and adults alike this May.

The Sydney LEGO Users Group (SydLUG) will stage Brickbuilt Sydney 2022 to raise money for The Children’s Hospitals Foundation which includes Westmead and Randwick Children’s Hospitals, a major charity partner with Accor Stadium – home of Sydney’s major events.

“An epic brick-built adventure awaits families across Australia who are invited to be part of this enormous and amazing event that will feature hundreds of exhibits on display, many never seen before,” said Gregg Odlum, Ambassador of SydLUG.

“We’ll have some of Australia’s finest LEGO builders at Accor Stadium and fans will be able to speak to the builders for insider tips and stories about their hobby.”

While some of Australia’s best known LEGO masters in Henry Pinto and Fleur Watkins will be part of the event, kids of all ages will get their chance to shine with a special Children’s LEGO Build Zone, hands on LEGO experiences, a giant raffle with over $500 worth of LEGO to win and some special give away available for visitors to the event.

Youngsters and adults alike will be able to unleash their creativity on the giant graffiti wall. There will also be remote control race cars, Storm Troopers Ewok and Mandalorian characters to entertain.

A bustling café will operate throughout the day, providing sustenance for busy builders.

Brickbuilt Sydney 2022 will be one of the great community events of the year – bringing the joy back to Greater Sydney – and it will run in full compliance of NSW Public Health Orders and with an approved COVID Safe protocol.

SydLUG has had a long association with The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, having witnessed time and again the joy they can inspire in kids less fortunate with their amazing LEGO displays. All profits from Brickbuilt Sydney 2022 will be donated to The Children’s Hospitals Foundation.

Doctors say LEGO is excellent for the brain as it builds concentration span. The more a child or adult is immersed and “lost” in an activity, the more their ability to focus develops.
