No goats, no sale.

Combine with the new City Space sets and boom - Space Farm.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have to have those animals, especially the sheep and pigs!

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

These actually look nice, especially the animals, it's a bit pity though that the "flagship" set is a juniorized 4+ kit :/ and the prices seem quite steep too

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

THE (sort of) SHEAR-ABLE SHEEP. THE LAMB. THE NEW COW. THE CALF. THE PIGLETS.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I LOVE how you can actually shear the sheep.

I feel like the vegetable delivery truck is going to be much more expensive than it should be.

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO makes a new mould for a baby pig.
LEGO makes a new moulds for a baby sheep.
But LEGO can’t make a new mould for a damn goat…

Gravatar
By in United States,

They're also introducing a new food element, Corn on the Cob.

Gravatar
By in United States,

YOU CAN PEEL THE SHEEP!!!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Brown chickens, grey rabbit, piglets, lamb, calf, corn piece, extra fleece for sheep-shearing action (!) and white versions of the newish 3-wide doors. Ok Lego, you win so. Just more to add to my wants list.

Wonder if Lego will ever release a wolf that the sheep's clothing can fit on.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The barn build is lackluster, for sure. I get they're aimed at a younger audience, but still, looks like all the effort went into the new animal molds. And even at that steep price it's still enticing. Although I think I like the veggie truck more, with the new plant element and corn-on-the-cobb!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These are all fantastic, even the 4+ set looks decent. And here’s me trying to cut the wishlist down…

Gravatar
By in United States,

it's going to be a busy day on pick a brick when these come out.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There might not be any goats, but we do have bunnies again!

Also, why do we have a specialized piece for poop? You can’t convince me we needed a special part for that. Wouldn’t brown studs work instead?

Gravatar
By in United States,

In this case, 4+ just means the number of copies I’m going to buy.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

No goat yet. I'm starting to think Lego is doing this on purpose.

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

NO GOAT, why????

That's a cupcake swirl that has appeared in over 50 sets since 2019. Ironically, I think it has appeared more times as poop than food.

Gravatar
By in United States,

New baby pig, baby cow, baby sheep, but couldn't be bothered to bring back the goat?!? I'm honestly astounded and disappointed.

It's unfortunate that the above is my first impression :/ Once I get over that I'm sure I'll get them, it's just such a huge missed opportunity.

I do really like the new plant piece used to make the garden in the mid-sized set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is that watering can new?

Also I'm totally buying that chicken shrine.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Hooraaa... oh, it's 4+. But we get another van!

NEW WATERING CAN MATE

Gravatar

Grey squirrel and a butterfly

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

As most 4+ sets, the 60346 is epic. All these wonderful animals and they even employ the Shipwreck Survivor.
Poor 60344 little hens though, laying dinosaur eggs can't be easy.

PS Yes, I am impressed with the new farm animals. And next year I hope to be even more impressed by new wild animals like zebras, giraffes, rhinoceri, gorillas... and a large modular zoo.

Apparently it was broken or destroyed. Hence why no more goats

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Shame the main farm is a 4+ but super up for theses. And this will be controversial but glad there are no goats! Having dealt with them in real life, happy not to have a Lego version!

Gravatar
By in United States,

With a pig fan in the family, assuredly going to buy 60346.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

So glad to see more farm sets after a 13-14 year drought. Chicken Coop looks perfect, but I'm not too keen on the van. I'm beginning to feel the 'food truck' fatigue.

The barn itself isn't bad for 4+ and it's satisfactory enough. I just wish there was a larger set like the one from 2009.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

That's nice.

Also, poor chickens, those eggs are as large as they are.

By in Finland,

I find it depressing how people can't enjoy all these fantastic new animals, but instead complain massively about the lack of goats.

Personally, I'm more than delighted about the new molds we'll be getting and don't even think about the goats anymore.

Then why not just make a new one? They make tonnes of new animal moulds (these sets included).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I understand the goat's iconic GOAT status as the Imperius Rex of all molded LEGO animals ... but honestly I'd rather have these new and "rare" (looking at you, cow) molds instead. Of course, giving us all of the above would be ideal. Maybe next year we'll get a "Back To Basics" theme focused on sustainability, with new bicycle molds and colors, a smaller (army-builder) version of 10268, and a whole fleet of lawn-mowing goats! Wait ... is that a possible submission for Ideas or World Builder? :)

Lets hope there is another set in this line just like asome previous special city themes.

yes, the kids >.<

I'm very much sold on 60346. I'll have to buy 4-5 of them.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and EVEN rabbits are more numerous on farms around the world than goats.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The piglets are cute. These are a great starting point and I hope to see a wave 2 to fill in the gaps.

Gravatar

Ee-i-ee-i-o. Very welcome if a bit restrained, get a chunky farmhouse in there replete with mud and dung

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

Chicken coop? Judging by the size of those eggs, those aren't chickens, they're ostrich chicks!
These all look great. I might get two barn sets and put the two barns back-to-back, and have lots of animals!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Shave the Sheep! The new animals are great!

But the tractor is a bit lame, even for Juniors.
And although the van has a nice garden plot with it, the vehicle itself is a boring re-run design.
Really needs a bigger regular set in the range too though. Tractor and bailer, spreader or seed drill, with a barn full of goats!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love all the animals and the coop, but the other builds are disappointing. Quad nr 4646379574, same old truck and the 4+ farm are just not for me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Going to be buying so many animals when they come to pick a brick :) as for the sets - I’ll get the produce van and chicken coop.

Maybe… just maybe the 90th anniversary castle set’s going to have surprise new mold goat herd and dragon :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yum, yum... An ice cream van for carrot flavoured cones and choc ices!

Gravatar

I was just answering the point about them already having a mold but I completely agree with you. Considering some of the other animals they have released recently it seems odd they haven't redone the goat yet.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Oh these will be great to serve as food for the dinos....

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are great. I like Farm with Animals and the Chicken Coop.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely a huge disappointment to be mainly all 4+/Juniors sets. I was expecting something on par with the old City Farm sets. I see the resemblance to the old farm/barn set, which is a nice nod, but not what I want. Hopefully this is not all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am in for rows upon rows of chicken coops. All of these look like multiple buy items to me.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

These are great, I especially love the Farm. Anyone building a castle market MOC will be loading up on piglets

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those poor chickens! They don’t lay eggs. They just explode and leave an egg behind.

So, baby cow, baby pig, baby sheep, wool coat for the adult sheep, watering can, ear of corn, cornstalk, butterfly, and I think a new double-door system…but no goat.

Squirrel looks white in the attic, but light-bley in the element lineup.

@ahughwilliams:
With the new combined PaB/B&P format, new elements don’t show up for order right away. I got one brown squirrel before they combined the systems for the US, but when I tried to pick up a grey one on my next order, all three had been removed from the list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For some reason, I rather like the barn set. It accomplishes exactly what it sets out to – play value for young builders – and it has bunch of animals, including (about time) a new cow. (I'd expect that once these sets become plentiful, the cows will be far less expensive on Bricklink.)

You make it out to many Farmer’s Markets? It’s a vendor truck, and farmers sell their food. It’s a bit modern but appropriate.

The "City" brand now includes everything.

Well, except places for people to life. That's still called "Friends."

The watering can and butterfly aren’t new moulds for this range - I already have the butterfly. But your point is valid. I suspect though that given budget constraints, LEGO would rather do baby animals than other adult ones. Kids (human ones!) are particularly fond of toy baby animals. Playmobil has been producing baby animals for years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are a must buy for me just for the exclusive Horace and Peach minifigs. They're super popular characters "from the hit TV series" that everyone has seen, so they're bound to be very expensive on the secondary market. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if scalpers buy up all the copies of these sets just to resell the minifigs.

I work for farms, I sometimes fill in at markets, thank you very much. None of the farms have a truck that look like a food truck. They have pick ups or box trucks. This is neither. The trucks from Jurassic World would fit in on farms more than this carrot food truck."

How wonderful for you that you work on a farm. My comment wasn’t a challenge to your livelihood, I simply asked a question that originates from my experiences because in my town, at the two local Farmer’s Markets that I go to, there are 3 vendor style trucks. So they do actually exist, even though you haven’t seen any, despite your years of toiling the soil.

I would also, since I don’t expect you to take my word for it, encourage you to do a search on the Internet for “farm vendor trucks”. The variety is astounding.

I stated the vehicle was appropriate and stand by that. What that means is that there is precedent in real life for the inclusion of said item in the set. I did not say I prefer it, or even that you should.

I did so because I took exception to your statement “it doesn’t fit the farm setting at all” when that is clearly a false statement. It simply doesn’t fit into YOUR perception of a farm setting.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are going to fly off the shelves. New animals appeal to tons of people. People always clamoring for new castle stuff, these will help with some of their farms too.

I hate the prices, but I will definitely get some of these for the animals alone. Who knows about Pick a brick having them in the future to buy extras. But I'm guessing the sets will sell well enough.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No goats :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

There really isn't much here compared to the farm range about a decade ago. The main farm is a Juniors set, the "delivery truck" just another basic, boring van in the vane of the rest of them (a mechanic's van would've been a more unique choice--since we've already had tons of food vendor sets using the same basic van mold), and the ATV and chicken coop looks like it should've been a part of a bigger set.

I'll be buying the van, as it's got enough bits to convert it into a van-based ambulance. That new rear door should work considerably better than what I've been using.

I really don't understand why the City farm had to be a Juniors/4+ set when we had a Mickey Mouse farm set released not that long ago that was also 4+. Seems like a bit too much overlap to me.

Lots of new animals, however. I'll be sure to stock up on those on Bricks and Pieces.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I think this is one of the reasons why City has a higher price than most other themes: all the investment in new parts.

60346 does kind of echo the spectacular 7637 and even the pig farmer 7566, but without the dark red granary and paddock bit.

And who knows, maybe a goat will feature in an upcoming castle set.

Oh, I don't know that I realize something happened to the mould. What a shame! But I'm kind of surprised the goat mould wasn't remade for Jurassic park theme to re-create the iconic scene when the T-Rex first gets out.

Gravatar

I really like these, though I'm a bit disappointed that the sheep is in the most expensive set. I've been wanting a sheep for ages.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

MUST GET ALL BABY FARM ANIMALS!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The farm itself is the same as the Mickey mouse one, and a bit pricey.

The vegetable truck is nice, will go well with the pizza and ice cream vans.

Overall - a huge let down compared to the previous farm line, which will probably get a price hike now (assuming no other sets for the 2022 farm line will be revealed).

"This world integrates innovations and advancements from the late 21st Century with time-tested and sustainable technologies such as: (1) people-powered vehicles; (2) solar and wind-powered energy generation; (3) local, organic agriculture and food systems; and, of course, (4) lawn-mowing goats. Society has abandoned the use of any non-renewable resources, and its aesthetic seamlessly integrates futuristic architecture and design with both direct and inspired cues from the natural environment."

I look forward to playing around with it!

@Zander:
Okay, both were introduced last year in Encanto sets. I boycotted the movie because of how Disney jacked over Pixar with three movies in a row being dumped straight to D-, and didn’t really pay any attention to the sets as a result.

@Sethro3:
Dunno. The new system hasn’t been up long enough to see what the delay on new elements and/or new molds will be. I’m really curious about that.

@cody6268:
Ooh, the doors are 6-wide, aren’t they? So 6-wide cab with an 8-wide box on the back, and these doors leave enough room for the taillights on the sides. Hmm…

@domboy:
For years all I’d heard was that the mold was unusable (damaged, destroyed, whatever). More recently someone said they did retain it after retiring the one set it was used for, but that when they went to pull it back into service, they found that it was damaged at some point. Why they don’t remake it, I don’t know. The planet is unlikely to crack in half if they do. There have been plenty of instances where a goat would have made sense, or even seemed almost necessary (except the new JP Explorer set where it has already been eaten by the moment depicted). They should still have the data to allow them to just cut a new mold without having to design it from scratch. The one thing I’m wondering about is if there was something specific about the shape (maybe the horns) that resulted in the mold being damaged. If that was the case, then it actually does make sense that they wouldn’t revisit it, on the chance that it’d just happen to the next mold.

Finally, rabbits in a natural wild color instead of white. And piglets and calves! And cows in a new color! And the fleece! And corn cobs! It's been too long since there were City sets worth buying, but these definitely qualify. I hope these parts eventually hit Bricks and Pieces.

The chicken coop and farm might just win me over, regardless of the grotesque price that the former will probably have in America and the latter has regardless. $10 for the former would be the best deal out of any City set in the US this year, but I won’t get my hopes up. LEGO animals are cute and the removable wool for the sheep is genius, I wonder why they didn’t include it in the Mickey Mouse farm, though.

I don't have an answer for TLG's policy on how they choose with molds to make or which animals to include. But you make a good point. Clearly they can invest and make new molds for various animals or pieces routinely. I'm sure they have heard that goats would be desirable among fans. Especially if they put them in an expensive set again, they know that set will sell! But only they know why they haven't created a new mold for the goat since the other one was damaged supposedly.

Gravatar

If the day ever comes that they re-release the goat, you could possibly hear resellers / LEGO investors screaming all over the planet.

It will be as if millions of Lego re-sellers cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

There’s been a System sheep for a while: https://brickset.com/parts/6342625/sheep-no-5
New ones go for about £3 on the secondary market. They were available in the UK through B&P/PAB at one point. Don’t know if they still are.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Remember 7637 with the complementary 7684? Now that was a proper farm! Even Duplo had better farm sets than this. But guess this is the best TLG can offer nowadays for City and still charge a premium for some small animals.
Those brown chicken must be spliced with dinosaur genes by Dr. Wu to be able to lay giant eggs like that. :))

P.S. Don't believe the fake excuses that they allegedly lost the goat mold or other fairy tales like that. Even if that was the case they would still have the tool drawings archived and even if that was "lost" too they could 3D scan the goat and remake a new tool for it or simply make a different, better goat with today's molding technology.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's finally clear to me that moulded animals are basically crack and LEGO is my dealer. First, they give us sheep and more bendy horses but throw them into a $30 Mickey Mouse set. Then, they give us lambs and calves and sheerable sheep and butterflies and the return of the almight cow but throw them into a $50 4+ set. I want to say no. I need to say no. But I can't. I won't. I must have this.

Gravatar

@shodan:
The Barraki eye? It’s not round at the bottom, and has a bar sticking out of it. Great for display, but runs a little awkward for play.

@Vindic8ed:
Ideas has always been a special exception. For years they weren’t allowed to commission new part designs. This may have even extended to not being able to request new molds once the old ones wore out (e.g. the “space arm” from 21109 Exo Suit, which barely had any clutch because it was the _original_ mold from the 80’s). The rule came into question with 21317 Steamboat Willie, which was notable for including two new hats for Mickey & Minnie. We later found out those were created for Steamboat Willie Mickey & Minnie in the Disney 2 CMF wave, which was unveiled not long after. But it wasn’t until 21324 that we actually saw new molds that were very clearly created for the Sesame Street Muppet minifig heads. After that they announced that, at their discretion, they could now make new molds for Ideas sets. This has been done very sparingly, though. Aside from Sesame Street, I know Jerry Seinfeld’s hairstyle was new to Ideas, and they made three heads and an Eeyore for Winnie the Pooh, but I think that’s all we’ve seen in terms of new molds. Note that every single one of these is a minifig or equivalent character. It’s possible the “no cheating” rule is still in effect for all other aspects of set design. That I’m aware of, Creator is the only other theme with a similar, but even more strict, rule in effect (animals are brick-built rather than molded).

@Murdoch17:
Yeah, it’s cute that you think they’ll be silent if that happens.

I’ve never seen any insider claim it was lost. They said that it was pulled out of storage and some unspecified damage had occurred. They didn’t say how much, or what type of damage. But you can read set designer Mark Stafford’s explanation here:

Maybe… just maybe the 90th anniversary castle set’s going to have surprise new mold goat herd and dragon :) "

No you won't - because they will be available for only the best of 5 sec and then someone somewhere will buy them all and Lego in their great wisdom will decide not to produce any more of them so you'll have to pay exorbitant prices on Bricklink (another Lego venture).

But, I do hope you can buy as many as you want - I want a few for myself as well - and let's just hope that what I wrote in the previous paragraph won't happen.

That said, I regularly check pick-a-brick to monitor the transition to an apparently 'enhanced' version of it. Before the merge of PaB and BnP: on BrickHunter, there was 431 items belonging to the category animal and plants. As of today, in Canada, you could now buy a whopping 21 parts in that category. Those are the sorts of 'improvements' that Lego always do - remember the 'improvements' of Lego VIP?

I like the farm - annoying that it is a 4+. The farm is actually not that bad. To me, what is the most cringe- worthy is the tractor. For crying out loud, 4 years old surely can build more complex thing than that - I received 358 when I was 4 and I managed - surely today's kids can do it as well.

I was/am for a return of the goat; but to me this is even better - I won't complain when Lego produce 3 new moulds. Now they have to make sure these are widely (emphasis on widely) available on PaB.

By in United States,

Making the farm a 4+ set is disappointing to AFOLs but it makes sense from LEGO's perspective. Farms and farm animals are much more popular with young children than with older kids, hence the numerous DUPLO sets.

But hopefully they'll decide to get some more use out of some of these designs and throw them into a Castle set or something. I think by now they must know we want it. ??

@HOBBES:
Sheep (adult) _were_ available for quite a while, post-merger, but right now the animals and plants have been almost completely picked over. Some of this might be resellers, but for sheep they might have just depleted stock while producing these sets. The three new baby animals and the new cow variant likely won’t show up for purchase for several months, to maybe a year.

This could be to keep people from skipping the sets they come in and just buying the loose parts, it could be to prevent resellers from hoovering up the supply and selling them for a huge markup, or it could be to give them time to weed out IP elements so they never even land on the “for sale” list. Whatever the case, sheep were up for grabs post-merger, but squirrels weren’t. That kinda sets a window for when new elements should be listed.

And there are six new molds. Three baby animals, wool coat for the adult sheep, corn, and cornstalk. The latter first appeared in the reveal of the new cargo train, but it seems logical that it was created for this theme.

Yeah, I would assume they limit the availability of 'desirable' parts for some time until people actually buy the sets. I will buy these sets (all 3 of them and more if they come up with other farm themed sets) but farms hardly ever have only one of each animals. A farm will have many of a given animals (cow farms will have many cows , sheep farms will have many sheep). I will want to complement my sets with additional PaB items (hopefully!).

Alrighty then sir, how about we cross that one more time with a Buzz Lightyear set. Surely the chin would be big enough (Sigh, a Swintrek set would be soooo much fun. But, I suppose it might be like asking for a Star Trek set. At least Lego has the IP license.).

I understand your perspective. Yet, my thought was the opposite. I look at this as an animal battle pack. I'm grateful for the lack of building extras.

Perhaps, @HOBBES is correct, and the pieces won't be readily available on PaB (however, @PurpleDave is correct that the sheep were available for quite awhile. I ordered quite a few). Thus, this is a reasonable alternative.

The most I've ever spent on a 4+ was thirty bucks for 10761 (and that was because I'm a huge Incredibles fan), but that farm is tempting. Interesting that 60345 has a hair piece of a color that doesn't occur in nature, those aren't usually seen in more 'grounded in reality' sets like this.

Lego has the IP license? A Star Trek... nice Bet that'll be pricey, nice scale version.

I meant Muppets. Sadly, not Star Trek. I know many, many people would love to see that.

I agree but with 60315: Police Mobile Command Truck using big eggs and egg splats, I assume LEGO chose the big eggs for more play value.

That said, those small "eggs" have been used for turtle eggs in 60328: Beach Lifeguard Station this year.

Those complaining about lack of vehicles: There are tons of great sold-separately farm vehicles (example: 60287 is pretty good). You might not have noticed that, despite many of us gushing over elements, these were designed to be introductory sets. Notice the 4+? That's a very low age suggestion. These are meant to be easy-to-build, and high-play-value.

I'll buy it, when on sale!

@HOBBES:
Same Barakki eyes that @shodan mentioned. Still has a bar sticking out of a flat bottom, still better for display than play.

And it’s not just the desirable parts. It appears to affect every first-time part, at least for a while. In terms of single-instance animals, roosters, bulls, dogs, and other “pleasure” pets (plus anything a kid is raising as a
4H project) are all I can think of. Even cats often are found in multiples, since there’s a lot of ground to keep rodent-free (plus a herd of cats will ensure you don’t need to keep buying replacements when they die).

@StyleCounselor:
Only the Toy Story 3 sets had a sculpted chin for Buzz. From the Disney 1
CMF through the Lightyear sets, he’s always used a standard minifig head.

And the sheep still show up if you select “Show Out of Stock”. It just says “Out of Stock” on a greyed-out button. Squirrels are nowhere to be found, unless you go through the Lost/Missing/Broken parts portals. But I did see all three colors on B&P before the merger, and even ordered one brown squirrel. I was regularly checking B&P before the merger, because I wanted to buy the white 4L version of the part that looks like a plug for a mouse hole, and it never showed up before the merger happened.

Exactly, also they released a harvester not too long ago, 60223 Harvester Transport, 40280 Tractor, even 76054 could be made into decent farm vehicles, as well as dozens of others that could be farm MOCs.

60344 Chicken Coop: Who laid those eggs? The set includes two roosters; where are the hens?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@560heliport:
All chickens have combs and wattles. They use them for temperature regulation, and to indicate breeding maturity/health. Roosters have significantly bigger combs and wattles than hens (and sometimes more flamboyant coloration of feathers), so it’s actually the roosters who are missing from the LEGO animal lineup. Unless you count the brickbuilt Creator type.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave: Thanks, I guess my memory is faulty: we had a pair of bantams when I was a kid. I don't remember Gertrude having a comb! This was about 40 years ago. At any rate, I'm delighted to have more LEGO animals. I'd like to see the chickens in marbled plastic, like the parrots. Cats, too!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@560heliport:
On a hen, the comb and wattle can be very small, especially on breeds from northern climates (the bare flesh is vulnerable to frostbite). If you had bantams with big poofy feathers, they were probably kind of hidden from view.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The barn is as good as you can expect for a 4+

The carrot truck is pretty much what I expected, though the corn is nice

The chicken coop is the most disappointing, for as others have said it's more like a mini-shrine to the chicken god and a coop. It could have been made to look more like a real coop.

Saying this I'll get all of them.

My only odd complaint is apparently some sort of Octan/Soylent Green corporation controls farming in Lego City, so I'm sort of sad to see the end of independent family farms...sniff...
