In 20 years, finding one of these is a batch of used LEGO is going to be either total junk or near-gold based on one, simple fact.

If you would be so kind as to direct me to such a batch, I would buy it now and not need to wait the 20 years.

"No interns needed to name this. Simple and to the point."

But it's not the first battery box they've ever made...

@MeisterDad:
In 20 years, it could still be junk, if I understand what @Formendacil is getting at, whether you buy it or someone else does. And by that I mean that I have a purple flashlight with 100 UV LEDs that recently came close to suffering the same fate, but fortunately I was able to clean up the mess before any damage was done.

Anyways, this one is bizarre. The first set to include it is 42113…which got cancelled (and doesn’t even appear to have a catalog listing on Bricklink, possibly by directive from their parent company). The set number for just the battery box is 88015, which has been available in Europe for 16 months, and in North America for _one_week_, starting May 7, 2022. Obviously they delayed selling it here because there was nothing to sell it for, but why did they suddenly start selling it now? Is there a new set coming that uses it, or includes instructions on how to mod one into it?

There’s also this stupid issue that TLG scrapped the Power Functions system, replaced it with one that’s marketed as Powered Up, and still continues to identify PU components as PF. What drunken sailor was responsible for making that call?

So that's why he's missing from 21324 ...

Battery box? Sounds like an assault punishable by a prison sentence :~P

"No. 1"? Did Lego start numbering their battery boxes with -100 in the '60s?

Ludicrous price from LEGO. Bluetooth enabled units are available cheaper on Bricklink because NOBODY WANTS POWERED UP JUNK!

Because infrared has a short range and is horrible outdoors, I called for LEGO to use 2.4 GhZ tech like basically every RC car these days--from the $20 toy all the way up to several hundred dollar hobby models. I have an Axial SCX-24 Chevy pickup that has a 2.4GhZ transmitter and receiver on board, and I can control it from the other side of a three-acre yard, but have to be right behind anything with IR control. There are companies copying the Power Functions bits, but making them 2.4GHz, but I'm not really a big fan of knockoff parts.

I hate phone controlled anything--including the cable box and Roku. Only reason I keep them like that is I lose my remote all the time.
