Trying, but can’t get in. In a queue apparently. Was on the product page at 23.55 but then got kicked out!

Edit:- A minute later was in and bought.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Same, waiting in queue. They just never learn with these releases...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

In the queue for 5 mins then managed to get one.
At least they are limiting it to one each.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Only a limit of 1, I thought we'd be allowed 20 at least!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

3 minute queue, then in and ordered.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wonder how many orders will get cancelled?

Huh? Site is working fine; it's available and has a queue and everything!

Also, got one after 4 mins in queue.

By in Australia,

Stayed up till midnight in Australia to find it definitely not available here, hopefully I can get 1 shipped to my mate in America when US goes live.
If not let's hope that the Slipcase Edition is the only Limited Edition (since the book cover doesn't say limited but the slipcover says "Limited Slipcase Edition")

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Note the photos show it states "Limited Slipcase Edition" printed on the slipcase, yet nothing similar on the book itself. So is it only the slipcase edition is limited to 5000 copies, and a standard edition will be widely available later?

Site was working OK with the queue, ordered one, got confirmation mail. Now we wait...

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Still available online, however, I’ve just received the notification from the Lego that it’s not currently available and will be send in 60 days…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still "Coming Soon" in the USA.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The US page shows Coming soon, but in Canada, it returns a 404 Not Found page ??

Plenty available on eBay at inflated prices...

@kissko384:
No, they absolutely do learn. The queueing system isn’t automatic. They have to anticipate getting bum rushed to turn the system on in time. If you end up in the queue, that means the site is functioning properly. Otherwise you just get shunted to an error page.

Way to screw over US buyers Lego. Total BS

Gravatar
By in United States,

So is it being made available at midnight in each respective time zone? I'm in the U.S., Central time, so at 11pm (12 am ET) most of the new items became available, but the book is still showing as "Coming Soon on June 1, 2022"

Which means they sold out before US buyers even had a chance to get one. Tired of Lego advertising something for a certain date and then not releasing it, or selling out before US buyers have a chance at one

Gravatar
By in United States,

Got the model. It took another 25 minutes to get the book.
I'm in the US - Eastern time zone.

What a cluster... Amazing that this is a multi-billion dollar corporation.

AFTER you get in the queue just keep refreshing the product page.
It will come up eventually.

Agreed. Another example of Lego saying F U to the American buyer. I am sure though all the resellers are having no problem getting the books

By in Denmark,

Set my alarm to 23:55, Went in at 23.56 and on 00:00 it was still waiting to be released. Waited until 00:15, but still not available.
So it set my alarm to 00:55 insted and go back to sleep. Went in again at 00:57 now in a queue. And about 01:04 I got it and was able to order it, and received a confirmation email at 01:27. Hopefully it go okay and I will receive one :)

Gravatar

I'm in the US, and was finally just able to buy one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just now I was able to add it to my bag. Showing Limit of 5. I only ordered 1; waiting on my confirmation email now.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Was this ever even listed on the Canadian site. Really gets annoying not to be able to find it on tbe store yet there are 10’s of copies available on eBay.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Live in US, 404 in Canada. And you guys have a limit of 5. Yeesh.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everyone who prematurely said that Lego sold out of the Ferrari Book and/or screwed the USA was wrong. (I'm not shocked, since they were just claiming things with negligible evidence.)

It went live after 20-25 minutes, and I secured my copy without any problems after refreshing the page every few minutes.

Unfortunately, the Cosmic Cardboard Adventure promo seems to have sold out in that time, so I removed the other things from my cart to surpass the $160 threshold, and just bought the book by itself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@BJNemeth
Same here – was put into the queue about 5 before the hour, got into the store after ~17 minutes but the book wasn't available yet. It just went live and I was able to get my copy.

And I just checked and it's still available!

Gravatar
By in United States,

And now it's not.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A sense of imperfection...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Curious that they allowed a limit of 5. It's now been changed to limit of 1, but I wonder if anyone who ordered more than 1 copy was honored for it. I had no interest in more than a copy, and didn't want to risk having my order cancelled because of greed.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I got 1 going to my US mate, now the long wait to get it into my hands in Australia!.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another botched release from LEGO. It wasn't available at midnight in the US, then it was for a very short time, and now the page isn't working at all. Really disappointed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yikes. At 12:43 am EDT, the entire product page for the Ferrari Book seems to have disappeared. I can't find it using Lego's search, and the direct link in the article above now gives a 404 error.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I bet the limiter that TLG changed really messed up all their inventory. Be interesting how they handle this. I hope everyone who ordered just 1 copy at least gets their confirmation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Went live in the US at 12:25AM ET. Ordered it ASAP but it got canceled.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's back on Lego's USA website at 12:57 am EDT, and it shows that it's still in stock.

One key difference -- the limit of five per customer has dropped to one per customer.

Hopefully they retroactively restrict earlier orders to one per customer, so more people can get a copy directly from Lego for retail price.

EDIT -- Lego's USA website has also removed the apparently sold-out Cosmic Cardboard Adventures promo from their offers page.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Yeah I had it ordered, cancelled on my home (US) account (never got an email, just purely checked account a bit later on). Happen to check in about 20 min later and was able to reorder and this time it went thru so I expect a bunch of cancellations.

I just hope those who ordered it to read are able to - I can’t wait to do so on this end.

@RonnyN:
Oof. I miss the old queueing system where you had a process bar showing how close you were to getting in. Now it just refreshes every 15 seconds with no indication how many times it needs to repeat?

I had three tabs open (cart, product page, rewards), and kept accidentally burning every one by scrolling too far and initiating a refresh that shot me into the queue. When the first tab finally did come back, the _LAST_ thing I wanted to do was refresh the page. I kept searching for “Ferrari”, open the product page, search for “Ferrari”, open the product page, etc. I was still doing that, waiting for the Add To Cart button when I saw you’d already bought a copy, so thanks for the tip. Two refreshes and I was on my way. No GWPs, though. I don’t know if there was a window when it might have been possible to get the Cardboard with a Ferrari book, but I missed it if there was.

And Limit 5? Seriously? On a book with 5000 copies worldwide, only a portion of which were reserved for the US, and they didn’t lock it to one like Europe? When the 2nd UCS MF launched, we were waiting in line at the store and watching it go from Limit 5 to Limit 2 to finally Limit 1 before the website started taking orders, all because they learned from Europe’s mistake before flipping the switch. And this time Europe got it right and nobody on the US staff was probably awake to notice they guffed it.

@MeisterDad:
I did the honorable thing and stuck to one copy. That’s what it was in Europe, and what it should have been in the US. I don’t know why Canada got shut out on this one, but with such low quantities, they may have restricted the number of warehouses that carried it.

@mgoblue1997:
I got an order with one copy through, and it shows In Progress, but on the order confirmation page a lot of the lines are blank except quantities and prices (I rolled a PaB order in with it). There’s a note right above where things went squirrely that says to contact customer service. I added another book to my cart just as a test, and it says Limit Exceeded, plus there’s a line with $79.99 towards the bottom, so I’m just hoping I get my _one_ copy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Strangeness – I received an email saying that my order is now backordered. But upon checking shop.lego.com, it's available again! It says limit 1 so I'm not going to tempt fate by trying to buy another to hedge my bets.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

For Canada, haven’t see any sign of it being available for purchase.
However under “offers” on the home page there’s a tab where it looks like you can enter to win one of 5 number copies of the book. But if you click on it nothing shows up on the VIP rewards page.
Also, under VIP now is the Ferrari Owners Club stuff. Enter the “serial number under the hood” to access a Ferrari owners club rewards. Looks like blueprints and downloads. And an owner’s certificate.
Disappointing as I was hoping to order a copy, but doesn’t look like it’s being offered on the Canadian website at almost 2 hours after Ferrari went live. Ordered that right at midnight EST

I don't understand it. Why they keep doing these limited editions. It just drives the resell prices and for what, I don't see any reason why this "random" book or some set they decide should be limited. Especially if they make it available to buy for everyone on their official online store. I understand there will be always limited sets, e.g. those sold in the LEGO House, but a least you have a great experience visiting an actual real place together with it.

If they want to keep doing these limited editions, I just wish they would do a pre-order window in which anyone interested could buy it and then stop selling it. It would be still limited, but at least anyone would have a chance to get it and be more transparent about it.

My though is, that this edition will be the only physical. Maybe the pdf get part of the "special supercar code area" where for the old ones you get wallpaper and sounds.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Status is ‘sold out’ again now in The Netherlands. It was temporarily out of stock 30mins ago.

Maybe some inventory was freed up due to failed payments or cancellation of multiple orders from the same households?

I don’t really understand the backorder status though. I expect that it will be shipped a lot sooner since the book will have to come from existing stock anyway?

Forced myself to walk away from the book last night. Not doing it, not joining the rush if it’s not even a GWP. However, the site does seem to be a mess with order statuses. My Studgate Station and Mountain top Observatory are showing as back ordered and due for despatch today. Yesterday they said they were due for despatch yesterday. My great fishing boat is moving from day to day too.
I also can’t remove the technic tow truck from my Wishlist.

The site is a mess

EDIT: planning to not release it other countries than US and Europe was not a good idea, I agree.

In terms of planning things went pretty well I think, apart from the initial limit of 5 in the US.

Main question is whether they could/should have made more books. It's a delicate game where making more books can lead to varying outcomes:
- more books -> more profits
- more books -> more happy customers
But also:
- more books -> less hype
- more books -> less exclusivity (and smaller demand for potential future similar products)
- more books -> higher risk of not selling all books.

There is an ideal number of books to make for Lego. We don't know it, they also don't know the exact number. We now know it is likely way more than 5.000, but they will always try to stay on the low side for products like this.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Not available in Canada.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@JPKuiper:
That seems standard for all products, and doesn’t really account for one-and-done releases like this. I had a copy of the Nebulon B on backorder for at least a week before they just cancelled the order.

I’ve heard the ideal number of hotel vacancies is considered to be one. It means you’re almost full, but having a vacancy proves you’re not missing out on customers due to lack of vacancy, and you’ve got one room spare n case of emergencies. I could see the same logic applying to books.

I ordered two. One for me and one for a LUG friend who gave up on refreshing and assumed it would move to a 9am release like the Ulysses. It showed Limit 5. I picked another item and had a Cosmic Cardboard Adventures added to the cart. Checked out, there was no Cosmic Cardboard Adventures on order confirmation, so I sent Customer Service an email and went to bed (as I didn't want the other item if there was no longer a gift with purchase).

I just received a response that said they canceled my entire order because I had more than one book in my cart (which was only possible because the limit at the time of my order was more than one):

"The limit is 1 for this one, so we've had to cancel your order. I completely understand the frustration and disappointment. I've added 1500 VIP points exceptionally to your VIP account as we ran out of this product and wont be able to sell you one. Please receive my sincere apologies."

As some of you noted above, they changed the limit and are not honoring it. It would be fine by me if they said "we made an error and can only provide you with one of the books you ordered," but I am a bit livid to be penalized for their error. 1500 VIP points doesn't come close to making up for the difference in price to get a copy now via eBay. The good news, I guess, is sellers who ordered five won't be getting their items. They're probably among those early "pre-order" listings.

The bad news is this probably doesn't bode well for all of you who bought BrickLink Designer Program Mountain View Observatory at the mistakenly listed lower price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just got an email from Lego after ordering 1 book in the US at around 12:30am: "We've cancelled your order" despite a 2am email of "Your LEGO.com order is confirmed." I'm done with Lego and their artificial scarcity. If I buy any more Technics, it'll be when they inevitably overprice them and have to dump the excess inventory on Zavvi for 20% off.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I dont understand why this was limited to 5000 pieces. Way to screw over everyone on the east coast of the usa lego. 2am is ridiculous. But i can pay 300 dollars for one on ebay no problem. another absolute joke of a release. Par for the course.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I put in an order for one around 12:25am EST, got a confirmation email, got charged, and just a few minutes ago lego cancelled it. I was looking forward to giving it a read, but I guess I’ll save my money for something better. Here’s to hoping the refund process is smoother than the buying process.

I had the same experience. Talked to a Customer Service rep who offered that their system wasn't able to keep up with the traffic (surprise!) and when it did catch up, canceled those orders that came in after the limit was reached. SOL.
I wonder how many they could have sold if they had just taken orders on it. The good news is I'm saving money, I guess.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So by their response, did they honor those who placed 5 limit orders first because the system sold them that way? Wouldn't surprise me if that were the case, and I hope not, because it would be another win for the scalpers again. I am disappointed, like many others, especially since I placed an order as soon as it posted on site for 1 copy, but it is what it is.

LEGO should have put 5000 tokens or a special brick into random Ferrari Daytona sets that then allow the finder of one to buy the book if they insisted on going down the limited edition route, or simply just have printed more books! This may have deterred the scummy scalpers.

That's not true. the CS Rep I spoke to, and someone else on here confirmed this as well, that ALL orders that exceeded the 5000 orders placed were cancelled once the system was able to catch up with the demand on orders. This has nothing to do with the "limit of 5" that TLG accidentally posted. My Rep told me that they would honor the error, however, they also stated that they believed that the orders went so quickly that not many people received them in the US. I don't understand why an item that TLG knows is done in such a limited quantity, worldwide in this case, didn't go on sale at the same time around the world. I know this would still cause server issues and different time zones, but at least the entire world has an equal opportunity to try to get it, or just send a specific number to each LEGO store and manage it that way on limited releases, which I'd hate too because I live a couple hours away from any LEGO store. All I know is that I'd like to see some kind of change for these types of products. Even release a paperback version because there are many people, myself included, that finds the whole production of sets and parts fascinating.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

@MVives:
If true, that’s very irritating. I got through about 12:30, so an hour before you. My one copy got cancelled this afternoon. I had briefly talked to someone on the phone, and they indicated it had sold out so there was little chance my order would be filled. If they purged all the early orders and let others through later, that’s bad enough, but due to the Limit 1 being imposed, on top of lifetime limit tracking, my first order prevented me from even being able to add another copy to my cart later on (I checked, because I couldn’t tell from my order overview if I’d actually managed to get an order through or not).

I got my order in before the limit changed, but I couldn't see it in my recent orders and no confirmation email, so dropped a second order after the limit changed.
First order - Confirmed & In Warehouse
Second order - Cancelled for exceeding limit
Glad I seem to have got 1, mine is going to a friend in NJ who will then forward to Australia since we were not deemed worthy of getting any here.

Also I suspect (and hope) that this will get a non exclusive release at some point so that all Lego fans can enjoy it regardless of the copy they get.

EDIT: I also don't know exactly what time I ordered since the time zones are different but pretty much as soon as it changed from Coming Soon to available I dropped my order in.

I just made a call in and received $25 worth of points for complaining. I know they can go as high as $30. Go AFOLs go! Hit 'em hard. Let them know how you feel! Get as many points as possible!

"For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind."

Has anyone received more than $25?"

Nope, I was pretty much told FU which is why I am done with Lego

Don't take that! Call 'em back. Flood the lines!

I mentioned the following: Lego made the brilliant move to simultaneously: (1) release a limited edition book (late at night) which glorifies wealth and brags about the Lego owners' personal wealth; (2) frustrate most the people who bought said book by canceling their orders with the usual Lego incompetence; and (3) issue a condescending press release about raising prices.

All the while, Lego is trumpeting their historic financial success.

I reminded the rep of how much time staying up for the limited release cost, and how much time it cost to call in.

After a brief email to CS I was offered 4000 vip points, £20/$25. It won't go far to purchasing on the 2nd user market. Of course I can wait to use them for the next midnight scramble for something Lego won't honour.

By in United Kingdom,

LEGO is apparently investigating the problems with distribution of the book and looking into solutions. Perhaps the VIP point compensation is that solution, or maybe there will be better news to come.

By in United States,

UPDATE: I just wanted to add that I spoke to LEGO's customer service after seeing that my order has COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED from my list of past orders. It's as if I never even ordered the book...

Apparently, IT STILL WENT THROUGH and is now showing as "In Warehouse" to the support representative, but not to me. So even if your order was accepted, they have removed it from your list of purchases!

I looked at my credit card, and both the book and the model itself (I ordered both in two separate transactions) are showing as "pending". This is normal for credit cards in the U.S. and happens all the time with transactions. It takes 2-3 days to actually be posted to the account.

I wish everyone who tried good luck!

LMAO, Lego investigating themselves. That is a joke. Want to make it fair in the future, limit one per person and it goes live EVERYWHERE at the same time around the world. Or, better yet, don't do a limited edition to start with
