Usually used for rescue helicopters to rig to the stretcher to turn it into a rescue basket, but I've seen it used for other stuff as well.

I have a couple in yellow I bought off Bricklink when I was last working on building a serious rescue/MEDEVAC copter. I usually use the newer stretcher when rigging it. I wish LEGO would make a new folding stretcher more like a modern "roll-in" style cot. The old one works much the same way, but is infuriating as the legs attachment point is very fragile.

LEGO really needs a dedicated spine board and Stokes mold for their sets.

Often used to hoist wounded people on stretchers. Occasionally also used to lower food to carnivorous dinosaurs. Coincidence? Mmmmmmmaybe….

It's a strap!

7903 really needed one of these. The way that stretcher looks to be "attached" is the worst.

I too first encountered this in a medical set. At the time I was (re)new to LEGO and had no idea what it was until the part list and instructions called for it. So that taught me LEGO was more than the limited array of rigid pieces I knew as a kid.

@Norikins:
Did they ever make a series of Coast Guard Academy movies? This looks like it’s based on a scene from one of them.

I was sure I had a few of these and my inventory on rebrickable shows I do have some. I just need to remember where I put them....

Strange thing they allready had the part 30191at the time (only the number is different)
First used in 6462 as "Stretcher Holder"
Also great as a animal halter like in 7115

I've got just one of these, in 6575 in light grey. In my display of it, the occupant of the stretcher isn't any of the personnel — it's the polar bear. I love little subversions like that in my displays.

I ought to have another, in 60265 in black. But I don't know if I'll realistically be able to get my hands on that set.

Looks like I owned four of the older version of this part, back in the day; and despite it being the part's most common use, not one of them was as a stretcher holder. As pointed out a couple of posts up, I guess I first encountered it as the Kaadu reins in 7115; I also had one as the shaping of Tee Vee's rover in 4792 and one as the 'roof frame' of the buggy in 7295.

So 2000's Arctic was actually Wildlife Rescue? I like it!"
