One of the parts that changed Technic forever, back in 1999.
This has got to be a first... it's been thirty minutes and nobody's commented yet on RPotD!
EDIT: Well, there goes my comment.
It's strange we have never gotten more angle pieces like this with different side lengths.
Half a million hockey sticks here and I can’t even skate.
So many of these in my parts... and so little use for them! I mean, I'm sure if I actually knew any Technic, that'd not be the case, since I assume the proliferation of this part means that it's actually quite useful.
However, as I do not have that firsthand experience, I will need someone who is good at explaining maths and angles to explain it. Keep it dumb, though--I barely passed that subject!

So many technic parts look weird on their own

If you consider the 6x4 angular beam you are already very versatile. There is little use in other 'ratio': A 2-long side would not be very helpful.
5x5 will probably never be made because of the 4x4 angular beam.
I'm still missing two color variants of the 3x7 beam:
https://brickset.com/parts/colour-Earth-Blue = from rare Bionicle sets
https://brickset.com/parts/colour-Medium-Lilac = no colour that I would use in my builds
A couple years ago, I made an angled book stand that incorporated these and other technic frame pieces, so that I could prop a book open on a table. The first and only practical thing I've ever done with Lego!
