By in Taiwan,

If you’re from the US here’s a warning to not buy anything from Zavvi. Here’s my horror story: So I ordered a couple of Lego Star Wars sets from them but received a couple of superhero action figures instead that I did not order, so I asked for a refund of my original order cost. Not only will they not refund me my original order cost until they receive the returned wrong items that they sent but they had me pay for the return shipping costs from the US back to Europe which is not cheap. They will supposedly reimburse the return shipping costs but my return package is stuck in Poland (tracking hasn’t updated in 1.5 weeks). Of course any attempt at contacting their customer service goes nowhere. I’m currently out about $190. So here’s your warning do not order from this garbage company.

Still very expensive. And then have to wait 6 weeks for delivery

Yeah I had a bad experience with Zavvi too.

Will never give Zavvi (or any of the other shops that operate under different names but are part of the same group) any money again after several disastrous orders from them.

Their customer service is terrible and focus on copy and paste replies and often clearly don’t read actual messages - plus no phone support so they’re massively frustrating to deal with if throngs go wrong.

Yikes! These comments are terrifying.

I have placed four orders with them. They have come promptly to the western U.S. and the packages are in better shape than I often get from Lego, and a lot better than Amazon usually does.

Of course, I've had no dealings with their CS. Sounds like a Vogon collective (still re-reading Hitchhiker's Guide). ;)

I guess I'm just lucky, yeah.

The lottery of a smooth order with Zavvi isn't worth the fuster cluck of their appalling systems, process or attitude if there is a problem - which clearly happens a lot more than with other retailers.

I'd rather give The LEGO Company my money directly, even if it means a few bucks more. More reliable, more responsive.

Why ad articles?

By in Puerto Rico,

Personally I've only ordered from them once and it was a success, however it took forever for the package to arrive. If you think the US is long, try Puerto Rico. The only sets from them that are worth it are the biggest ones like the creator expert or technic when they go on crazy sales. Otherwise I don't like their sales tactics. They take the actual price from Lego, mark it up and say that is MSRP, which its not, and then they show that its "on sale" for a price that is still above Lego MSRP. Then sometimes they offer a discount code that makes the price look attractive. So in the end I got the Technic Bugatti for $80 off the original price of $350 for $270 and figured that was worth the trial. Sets like the UCS MF for $680 or the Stadium for $270 are decent deals.

If you want 20% off the original MSRP price then Amazon, Kohls or others have better discounts and you get what you paid for.

Sorry to hear so many bad experiences on Zavvi - I've been lucky so far I guess. I've ordered from them about 7-8 times and except for once never had an issue, quick delivery and very well packed items as was mentioned above. The one time the Statue of Liberty took about a month but customer service was decently responsive to my 2 inquiries.... I have stuck to only ordering the email deals though in case that has anything to do with it...

Because they earn the site commission and keep it free for everyone to use, and free of display ads for members.

I’ve always avoided Zavvi due to the horror stories I’ve read here, but I decided to give them a try with the recent discount on the UCS R2. Figured I could always do a chargeback if things go south.

It ended up arriving sooner than an order I had placed from Lego Shop Online a few days prior, well packaged and in better condition than the box from Lego.

In the UK, John Lewis has 20%o off some great sets, including Boutique Hotel and Police Station modulars, Medieval Blacksmith, and 30% off the yellow Fiat 500!
Free delivery if you spend over £50, or click and collect from Waitrose.
And I’ve always found John Lewis to be reliable (and no, I don’t work for them)!

How do they ship so cheaply across the ocean? My last order came over the Atlantic by air and was free shipping. Do they have some kind of special contract or do they eat the cost?

By in Chad,

Made a few orders in the UK with Zavvi. Most went fine. A couple went a bit wrong with delivery (either never delivered or delivered v late).

I have never had an issue ordering from Zavvi, here in the UK. In fact I have been very pleased so far.
