I have nothing quippy to say. It’s a very useful part.
Used four times for boats, three times each for buildings and trains, and once for a lunar rover. Even the year it was first used was split evenly with one boat and one train.
@PurpleDave: Ah yes, but did you ever use it for a 'partridge in a pear tree'...:)
and @NatureBricks: You are also completely right: this is one of those parts that goes weeeeell beyond the descriptor...I'm thinking 'front plate of a mech' (where the cockpit is in the chest instead of the head...)
@NatureBricks:
Well, buildings are tied for second place with trains. But who makes a thing names a thing. There are parts with official names in Dutch. Not just Danish, but Dutch. The official language of the company is English, because it’s easier that way (imagine asking potential international hires that they need to be fluent in a language that’s spoken by less than 1% of the total population of the world), but apparently since nobody has to converse with the parts, rules aren’t absolute.
@brick_r:
I haven’t used it for anything. It’s not really Batman’s style. But I was thinking that it looks more “cable car” than “locomotive”.
The one in the picture is blue so it's clearly a neoclassic part
@allthenamesaretaken:
The one in the picture has no glass, so better keep your helmet on!
@PurpleDave
Well to be fair the classic space guys must have been able to breath vacuum since their helmets were open too
@purpledave that's interesting about the Dutch apart names, do you have any examples?
@Zackula:
It was noted in a comment on a previous RPOTD, probably within the last month or two.

Found it. @Koentinius said “Rotorblad” is a Dutch word.
It might also be Dutch but I'm pretty sure it's the same in Danish.
I still can’t bring myself to think of anything but Uncharted 2 when I see train parts that are post-locomotive. Despite the multifaceted uses of this piece, LEGO seems to have discontinued it as the last time it was used is half of a decade ago. Jeez, 2017 was half of a decade ago? The Nintendo Switch and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 came out half of a decade ago?

Seems like they just changed the part number: a version with an alternate design number, which seems to look otherwise the same, was last used more recently, in 2020: https://brickset.com/parts/design-42506
@cm5878:
It seems that’s the case. But English is still the official language of the company, so even native language Danish seems like it should be off limits for naming parts.
