Arrr.
I have to get this out of my chest... this piece looks a bit lonely .
Wow, a part from before 2020. At first I thought it was the new version but it looked too familiar.
Shoutout to the new flat version they made for Minecraft his year. Super cool!
Where are all the kids asking to see a big bare chest?
Sunken treasure!
Avast...me 'lids' been flipped...(couldn't resist:))

The Minecraft wave from the start of the year didn’t use any, the first Harry Potter wave used it first.
I wonder how many specific Lego parts out there are relatively useless without their counterpart?
@ResIpsaLoquitur: Useless...oh come now; attached properly from the 'top', lid becomes a 'scoop'...
Another one I'd like to see used in a non-intended way

Nintendo City Gardens used a heap as roof tiles!
I know it's an older mould number of the part than this, but I can't ever see a Lego treasure chest without associating it with the body of the jackal statue in 5938 Oasis Ambush - my first encounter with the parts, and still one of my nostalgic favourite sets ^^

A worthy set--though that's one of its most disguised uses. My own memories of this piece tend to evoke either 6081 King's Mountain Fortress (my first set with it) or 6252 Sea Mates (not quite so early in my collection, but far more prominent in its story uses for me).
This is actually the third version of this piece. The First one came out in 1985 ( 6011 ) and never appeared again in old Gray. A Brown Version was following in 1987 (NA)/1988 (EU).
This Version easily wore out as I can tell you from the few I have. So ist was soon replaced by the second Version in ca. 1990. Did the First batches of 1989 Pirates Sets really come with the First Version? I'm Not Sure about this, but given how messy those Sets were in regard of variants I would Not be surprised.
The third version came out around 2015 I guess... It's again a bit sturdier. It also had one of the Most creative used of this Part as a frog's mouth^^
