The back photo shows what appears to be white ghosts in the dining room (part of the Pepper's Ghost illusion in the ride), but the inset photo shows no ghosts. I'm not sure what they're trying to convey with that inset photo. I don't see how there could be any function to make the ghosts "disappear" and don't think they're re-creating any miniature Pepper's Ghost illusion.

By in United States,

But Wanda can't have a skirt piece in a $250.00 D2C Set?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm I think we can see where this is trending. Big Thunder Mountain will be rad!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Clearly LEGO can still make new cloth pieces, so why is it impossible for them to put one on Scarlet Witch?

The build here looks great but I'd love to see a review because I can't imagine where those 680 pieces went. Maybe this is hinting at our next Disney D2C? Then again, our last haunted house set was barely two years ago, so it seems a little soon to me. Hope they continue with these miniatures though!

"Welcome, foolish mortals...
to the (mini) HAUNTED MANSION!"

When hinges creak in doorless chambers
And strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls
Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still
That is the time when ghosts are present
Practicing their terror with ghoulish delight

(Sung)
When the crypt doors creak, and the tombstones quake
Spooks come out for a swinging wake
Happy haunts materialize
And begin to vocalize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize

Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide
Or a silly spook may sit by your side
Shrouded in a daft disguise
They pretend to terrorize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize

As the moon climbs high o'er the dead oak tree
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes
Start to shriek and harmonize
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize

When you hear the knell of a requiem bell
Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell
Restless bones etherialize
Rise as spooks of every size
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize
Mwahahahahahahahaha!
(repeat three times)

If you would like to join our jamboree
There's a simple rule that's compulsory
Mortals pay a token fee
Rest in peace, the haunting's free
So hurry back, we would like your company

Hurry back...hurry back...
Be sure to bring your death certificate
If you decide to join us
Make final arrangements now
We've been...dying...to have you

They are probably just trying to give a better view on the stickers, conveying what appears to be (?) paintings (sorry, I'm not familiar with the source material).

That piece count is ridic how did they even manage to get that many in that small a building

Gravatar
By in United States,

Agree, that piece count can't possibly be right...

I think it might have more interior. The depth is 14 studs. What we see as interior from the back only takes up 4-5 studs. On the other hand, you'd expect them to demonstrate that feature on the back of the box.

By in United States,

So… big one announced soon? Just speculating.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No Eddie Murphy minifig. I'm out.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who is the minifigure? Hatbox Ghost would have been amazing. I have no clue who this is. Then again I've also never been to Disneyland

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice building but, like the mini Disney Castle, the out of scale minifigure seems a bit weird. A throwback to 1970s Legoland sets, where the minifigures didn't fit the vehicles.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Not convinced by its looks.
And the Paris one is more atmospheric anyway.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't say I'm interested, I'm afraid. With all the money I'm saving on new Lego releases that just don't feel worthwhile, soon enough I'll be able to buy my own mansion!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m still trying to get the excellent mini Disney Castle…it hasn’t been in stock for months. I have the notifications…when I get it? I go to site…gone again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Any chance this will have a pre-order option?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I reckon I could build one of those with 200 pieces :)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

35 Euro for mini micropieces!?!? Is it a mosaic or a dots set, I ask myself just looking at the piece count. It looks like a GWP. I think 15 to 20 Euro would be a reasonable price for this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fun. So these are a thing? Mini-Space Mountain would be pretty cool. Or mini Rocket Ride--but preferably the old retro-future Apollo-inspired one, not the funky steam punk update.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Poor model of a bland Haunted house. Not a patch on the mini castle.

I hope so. I personally want the movie version instead of the ride version.

Sand green window battle pack?

It's an approximation of the sailing ship weather vane on the actual Mansion

That butler's face looks like mine most of the time.

The Minifigure represents one of the costumed 'butlers' who work in the attraction. Unlike the rest of Disneyland staff, Haunted Mansion cast are encouraged to conduct themselves in an aloof, solemn manner- ironically making them some of the most entertaining people in the park!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

neat but €10 too high

Gravatar
By in United States,

Obligatory far too expensive post. $20 or maybe $25 would feel better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would buy the hell out of a mini-figure sized Haunted Mansion. This is a soft maybe.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That’s a lot of pieces for that price! Looks pretty good if you ask me.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Cute set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If it doesn't open up or have little moving carts or a stretchy room, then it's just a bland microbuild of 1x1 pieces to me. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wish it was the Disneyland Paris version instead.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it looks excellent and I'm happy with the price. Was kinda hoping for the three hitchhiking ghosts as figs but the butler is good too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Would be several exponentials more exciting were it to have the Hitchhiking Ghosts — or even the Hatbox Ghost.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not impressed but I want the minifig. I was hoping it would be better than this.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I want one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I feel like I'm the only one who can tell that there are 680 pieces just by looking at the build lol, yes they're small pieces but it's a very intricate build nonetheless. Who is the Minifigure, though? Nobody has a flesh tone in the ride aside from the paintings at the start of the queue and maybe a few later on.

Someone already answered, but he represents a cast members. Cast members for Haunted Mansion have unique outfits and act in specific ways that are fitting of the ride itself, unlike some other rides. They’re rather iconic as far as the park goes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Based on the inset photo and high piece-count, I suspect this will have some sort of trick wall mechanism where the interior scene on the back is duplicated, somehow spinning around to reveal the “ghosts” on the other side.

Just a hunch, but it feels like a good one.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I was wondering about the price, then I saw the piece count. 40 bucks for a miniature, I cannot justify that. Excellent minifigure though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The details are cute but it's not my thing. However, I'm really hoping this is a sign that The Haunted Mansion will get a proper minifig-scale set with figures of the characters inside the attraction. I've loved the ride for many years now and it would be fantastic to see it get its due in LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this one also going to be impossible to get 9 months after release?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I have no idea what this is, but the sand green windows are great for parts.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

it doesn't really give off a haunted atmosphere for me. From the front it looks a grand country house. Aside from the colour I don't see the resemblance to the other haunted houses. Is this a sign a new one is coming?

But it's not $40 for a figure.. it's a whole build with a minifigure ?????

This set is not a LEGO original IP- it's based on the famous Disney Parks ride first built in Disneyland, and its innocent appearance was entirely the point-- Walt didn't want his innocent, happy park to have a scary-looking house turning the mood, so the original Mansion is a pretty normal-looking old Southern estate house on the outside. This even plays into the story of the ride where the interior gradually decays as the ghosts trapped inside the house are set feee to celebrate, so the house starts off looking clean. The Walt Disney World and Tokyo versions of the Mansion got a pristine but more menacing Gothic facade after the Disneyland facade was criticized for not reflecting the tone of the ride well enough, and the Paris ride features a different narrrative and an aged, decayed exterior that broadcasts the story clearly.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Should be 999 pieces ??
I shan’t be getting this set as my mansion is the Florida version, this is the California original.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

The price is 39,99€.
Not 34,99€.

It's a great set but the 40€ aren't warranted.

The price is €34.99 on LEGO.com in Germany, where the Euro prices are drawn from. Maybe that will be updated though, given the intended consistent pricing across the Eurozone.

By in United States,

Did they include anything to represent the cremains that visitors smuggle in to deposit? When they catch this happening, they have to shut the ride down while they clean up the mess.

To the many people commenting on the piece count, I built a 6-wide Mater that uses 378, and is maybe half the size of this.

@PDelahanty:
Look closer. The photo of the back shows all three ghosts on the first floor, so maybe the idea is you’re supposed to move them around periodically.

@Elcascador:
If you remove the front pillars, and the sand-green curtain, what remains looks to be eight studs deep. Two of those are taken up by the front and center walls, with another three occupied by the room in the back. That leaves a 3-stud chamber at most, assuming it’s not being used to enable SNOT construction on the white inner wall around the front and sides.

@SpaceCadet:
Not enough space.

@TomKazutara:
In some shots, the three trophy figs almost look GitD, and in others they look plain white.

@VaultDweller_197:
Miniature, not minifig. As in “miniature building”.

By in United States,

Several have commented how they wish they could get the "Phantom Manor" version instead (which is the "haunted mansion" at Disneyland Paris).

I've been there, and would concur that it is definitely more atmospheric. Additionally, I always felt like 10228 ("Haunted House"), from the Monster Fighters line, somewhat resembled the "Phantom Manor." Or, at least, a cross between "Phantom Manor" and Hitchcock's "Psycho" house, behind the Bates Motel.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll be picking this up. Well I'll try to. The Mini Castle seems to never have been in stock.

I get that, and I understand that each region of the world will identify more with their nearest Haunted Mansion ride, but as a company, Disney's pushed the Anaheim Mansion the most because it's the first one built, the longest-running, and the one that provides the structure for the other copies and derivatives. The Haunted Mansion brand at large is carried by the first attraction in the sphere, so for LEGO to make anything but the Anaheim Mansion first would be surprising.
