Undoubtedly in consideration as the most useful 'modern' element, in my opinion. Perhaps not the outright winner, but a definite contender!

@CapnRex101:
It’s a great technique element, but the cheese wedge as an aesthetic element wins in my book.

A simple looking part but used in so many different ways from control sticks/drink bottle tops.

Also used to reverse directions with the hollow stud https://brickset.com/parts/design-28626 , or other SNOT/window parts etc.

To compact clipped designs to attach things in even more ways (part of the submarine is built upside down in 31130 : Sunken Treasure Mission) via clips, and the alternate builds have it as multiple different decoration/attachment for the coral builds.

Not to mention, also the micro-peg hole adds even more connections to older quills/flames/mini(fig/doll) hair accesoires and also newer parts like the 2018 candle flame. https://brickset.com/parts/design-37775 and even just the bar itself also works as attachment point for the Candle Stick part.

Overall certainly part of a list of very useful parts that appeared in the past decade or so which rapidly gets more uses and colors.

This is the third time this piece has been RPotD:

The others were the transparent version, so would have been a different mold, which presumably had a running change requiring a new part number. Makes me wonder if the opaque version had a similar change, which means we might see it selected a fourth time...

By in Australia,

One of my personal favourite pieces actually, especially of the last five or so years. Has such a great selection of uses.

Agreeing with many members above, the infamous "nipple" piece certain serves a wide range of purposes, and is quite the versatile element indeed.

Certainly a very useful part, absolutely. Just yesterday I was looking through the building instructions for 76178 Daily Bugle. The news stand there is ingeniously built on its “side” and then attached with clips to these “nipple” pieces.

Laser emitter for a certain Bond a villain:
B: "Do you expect me to talk?"
G.F.: "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to LAUGH" (points at piece:))

Given this is the third time the ‘nipple’ piece has been RPotD, perhaps the most fitting Bond villain is Scaramanga AKA ‘the man with the golden gun’.

yes, but is it a sentient nipple?

I'm a beginner builder and I already used this part several times. Once as rear-view mirrors in a car. And another time to create a blender (with an upside-down glass case).
So useful. Love it.

That gold render looks very iffy

why is the texture they use for renders of gold pieces so crunchy
