Well.
That's awkward.
I can't wait to see the comments.
...now then!
I was wondering what's "extra hard." My guess was that it has a strong spring. Bricklink list this part as "Technic, Shock Absorber 6.5L - Hard Spring, Tight Coils in Middle," so that would seem to be the case.
Makes me think of a newsie shouting:
Extra! Extra!
Read all about it!
Shock Absorber!
Extra Hard!
Number One!
Lego should've brought this out when they announced the price increases.
Because nobody likes a flaccid shock absorber.
Shocking!
Extra hard, huh? I would understand if it was a No. 2, but No. 1 shouldn’t ever be that hard.
Once you've been shocked and absorbed, be sure you haven't been left damper...
When regular hard isn’t enough, you need extra hard!
Down with this sort of thing!
With 7,280 (0.0265%) out of 274.050 members here are rockin' that Extra Hard, No. 1, just goes to show they really are not average!
Well the jokes really write themselves with this one don’t they?
Jonson approves!

Life has been rough lately. Or dare I say... hard! But it wouldn't have been if you had a Shock Absorber Extra Hard 1 (tm) to absorb all that roughness for a smoother ride!
The Shock Absorber Extra Hard 1 (tm) can absorb even the hardest of shocks* so you have to get one -or even better, several TODAY!
Financial trouble? Failing relationships? Getting fired? Stubbing your toes?
You wouldn't have felt anything anymore with enough Shock Absorber Extra Hard 1 (tm) to absorb all those shocks!
Get them TODAY!
Or else

Somehow manages to combine the 'Suits you, sir' and 'Swiss Toni' characters from the Fast Show.
For the previous 5 years these used to be colored red in part 6144791, with the picture showing twice as many spring coils as the above picture or the usual grey hard version 6378472 to indicates the extra hardness. So without buying the McClaren F1 unable to comment how they have manged to double the hardness with the same number of coils or the picture may not be correct?

I do have a collection of these, mainly from the need to have 'hard' springs but in colours they are not normally available in (usually grey) - they can be dismantled (with some difficulty using a blunt knife!) and the springs changed.
I need this part NOW. especially if we aren't getting any new LOTR sets for the new shows. :(
