This afternoon I put together this year’s Lamborghini Countach that has this piece, but apparently it has a different ID for this part. Is this one an old mold? On BrickLink, it shows sets up to this year with this part.

@LuvsLEGO_Cool_J:
The Exo-Force robot claw has been switched to a new material, so it’s possible this design is the mold for ABS, and the new mold is for whatever material they use for the robot claw.

When this first came out in yellow I used it as a severed arm in a medieval MOC.

Just rewatched that last weekend. IMO the best comedy film ever made!

A good part. A strong part.

LEGO should systematise its bars, clips and related small parts. Why, for example, is there no plain 1L, 2L and long bars? Why is there no back-to-back clip? I often find myself either cutting LEGO or resorting to other brands. I’d rather do neither.

@legoguy:
The easy response is that minifig arms have been available as long as the minifig has been around, but you can plug a red feather-flame into this to represent blood pouring out.

@Zander:
Regarding the 1L bar, it would be too easy to get permanently stuck in far too many other parts, so I just don’t see them ever making one for the very limited use it might see. 2L bars might be nice, but they already had the lipstick, and now there’s a more durable flanged bar that even has pin holes in both ends. For longer, it’s far easier to just cut flex tube to length, and far less likely to shatter at extreme lengths. Brickarms makes a double-ended clip (literally just a figure-8 with the open ends), but the clip tines are about as thin as the earliest LEGO clips and I’ve already had one break. A more robust version might be nice. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though.
