See you in Skærbæk?

Posted by ,

The biggest and one of the best LEGO fan events in Europe takes place in Skærbæk on the west coast of Denmark this weekend.

Around 1000 AFOLs from all over the world descend on the small town, some 80Km from Billund, for a long weekend of displaying, seminars, presentations, workshops, games, shopping, trading and of course socialising.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday at The LEGO House in Billund at which there'll be a special event for AFOLs. During the day there will be presentations from designers and several on hand to sign boxes.

It will be the 6th year that I have attended, having missed 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, and I'm very much looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones. In particular, it's always good to see our US correspondent MeganL there: it's the only time we get to meet up.

Wil you be there too? If so, let us know in the comments and come and introduce yourself to us. I'll probably be hanging around the GBC display most of Saturday and Sunday during the public display.

I hope to see you there!

No, but I might have to try to get there one year. Maybe next year, but more likely the year after when the kids are a bit older...

By in Netherlands,

This is, perhaps surprisingly, the first time I’ve heard of it and I wish I hadn’t… the jealousy is killing me! :’)

Same man, luckily I'm going to Brickworld Detroit this week so the jealousy isn't too bad.

By in Netherlands,

Arrived in Billund today (first time ever). There was a nice rooftop party going on, on top of the lego campus building.
Really looking forward to the rest of the weekend events. I think that as a lego fan, you need to do this at least one time in your life.

By in Peru,

Socializing is the only thing that ruins the event.

By in United States,

Yes! My travelling group met up with Huw at the airport as we were all on the same flight.

By in Denmark,

I've never been there even though I live just 150 km from Skærbæk. I think it's the concept of socialising that keeps me from going :|

By in United States,

If you feel rusty and anxious about socializing, remember, so does everyone else!

By in Serbia,

Haven't been there in years, ever since I lost my hype for LEGO (and reduced my purchases to a couple of sets per year). It was nice the last time but it had become way, way too huge - in the early days, you could meet and socialize with everyone but it then became a challenge to just see the exhibition properly, let alone meet new AFOLs.

Perhaps I'll come and hang out next year, now that there's a direct flight from Belgrade to Billund. No MOCs, no shopping, just an extended weekend of fun.

By in South Africa,

Wish I could be there Huw - but South Africa is SO far away from this event. I am properly jealous!

Do me a favour and try to find out if Lego is planning a UCS Venator in the next decade please!
